Recall: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 6) by Meghan O’Flynn was an excellent crime /thriller novel. It can be read as a standalone book but does mention things from the previous books. I loved the parts where Petrosky would reminisce about things that happened in the past. Some were good and some were bad. Having read the other books I felt the emotions he was feeling as he recalled them. Following him as he solved this case with his partner Jackson was incredible. There were ups, downs, and several crazy individuals. It never ceases to amaze me how the author creates these characters with such creative traits. I absolutely loved this novel and I highly recommend it.

It continues to feature Ian Troy as he travels into the past to correct wrongs and find a way to bring down his father. I love that Malaq and Jarryd continue to be present for this story. They have fun personalities and really seem to balance Ian’s character at times. Like the other books in this series there is a lot of action and build up to a well thought put climax. The story is easy to follow even though it is lengthy. Don’t let the length be daunting though because there is a lot packed into this novel. I really enjoyed this final book and loved the series. Vampire State by Alexander Charalambides was a unique and exciting vampire novel. Rowena’s father returns from war having rescued an important person from the Pale population. This provides them with the opportunity to go from living life as poor to having access to things the rich people do. The only downside is they are on borrowed time and must decide to join the Pale population by receiving “The Gift” or becoming something like slaves or worse. She is pulled into the world of politics by charming Pale Vincenzo in his ploy to find progress and equality. Luka, who is different and unique in his own way, sheds a different light on the issue. She has to make a choice though, to die or not to die.

This book was exciting, creative, and invigorating. I loved this new world the author created and how detailed the scenery was. The characters were also developed well. I loved Rowena and Vincenzo the most. I found Luka fascinating but Vincenzo stole my heart at the start. I definitely recommend this book. An ominous vision distracts Syd from the conversation with her boss regarding adding Blake and she is shocked upon seeing him. Things happen and the two must work together to figure out how her vision is tied into someone’s death. Can they figure it out before death stakes it’s claim?
The characters in this novel were amazing. Sydney was a strong heroine with a spunky attitude. She stood her ground in tough situations and went for what she desired. Blake was also an excellent main male character. He was hunky, down to earth, and fun. These two also had amazing gifts. I loved seeing them come together and work with the team.
The storyline also had great flow and was easy to follow. I was hooked immediately from the beginning. This book is the second in this series but could easily be read as a standalone.
