Suen’s short stories of beginnings and endings is an interesting little collection. I really liked the characters, especially in the first two, and felt that she gave them a lot of depth and intrigue in the few pages they had. Emotionally, they were powerful as well: the characters each being on the precipice of a major event in their lives. I could feel the shape of their hearts, if that makes sense. There was a quality of the unfinished for me in these however; they seemed like a well-written first chapter to a novel I’d love to read. The effect left me hanging, wondering if that was really the end. The third story used the setting and plot to a much greater degree than the first two. There are more description of vistas and more happenings in general in this last one. I found this one most powerful as a result. It was well-crafted and poignant. All in all, these are worth a read, and I think Suen turned them out well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining and engaging second chance at love romance and thought it was a great first book in a new series, ‘Southern Promises’. Georgia Clay an award winning songwriter is well known in Nashville and meets up with his high school crush, workaholic Southern beauty Katie Parker at their ten year high school reunion. Old feelings resurface and the couple spend until the early hours talking in Clay’s pickup truck. The pair then start a long distance relationship but Clay has never admitted to Katie that he fell in love with her years ago. Clay has never stepped into the spotlight himself despite his incredible talent as he’s worried that his debilitating childhood secret will be revealed. Meanwhile, Katie is a cut throat workaholic who is skilled in the insurance business.
When the musician and the career woman meet again their chemistry sizzles off the page leading to some steamy moments. Hopefully Katie’s love will ensure that Clay takes a chance both on love and on his career. The main characters were very likeable and relatable and the secondary characters were intriguing so I’m hoping they will get stories of their own. The setting was bought to life by the descriptive narrative and the storyline flowed well making it an easy read. The plot kept me happily turning the pages and I was hooked from page one. I look forward to reading further books in this series.

Wow, I continue to be blown away with this series. This book in particular is just pure dark, raw and emotional. Please be aware of adult content and triggers. My heart hurt after reading this for Saffie. She is on the run, trying to get away from her ex, whom we find out belongs to a mc. Niran, is ex military and protective. I loved his character as tries to help Saffie but once Saffie finds out that Niran belongs to a mc, she flees. She wants to feel safe………..The ending…………..holy cow………like…..I need part 2…

Ah yes, Grumbler, so set in his ways. I loved his character in this book, even if he is a little rough around the edges. We meet Grumbler when he meets a photographer whom wants to take pictures of his bike, and a monetary deal is made. Needless to say, that photographer is not what he seems to be, conning Grumbler of what is due. Mary and Alicia come into the picture and my heart! Mary lost her husband and trying to raise a 17 year old daughter on her own. Alicia is in a situation and Mary tries to be there for her daughter, something is not right and Mary senses it. Grumbler is there for both Mary and Alicia. Some twists and turns in this book (don’t want to give away to much), but at the end there is love between Grumbler and Mary. I love them together.

This is a very quick read as the stories are short. You could probably sit down and finish this book within 30 minutes. Maybe less depending on how fast of a reader you are. I enjoyed reading each one of them however there were a couple that kind of left me thinking that there needed to be more. A couple of them were fantastic and I would have loved for the author to have continued them. Out of all the short stories, “The End of Summer” was my favorite of them all and I wasn’t quite expecting it to turn out as it did. It really choked me up and brought tears to my eyes. I was concerned when I realized how few pages there were in the book but was thoroughly pleased with the stories.

Another extremely enjoyable historical romance by Wareeze Woodson. As I read more of their work, I am continually impressed by how real the characters feel. Their faults and flaws make them even more lovable and make it easy for readers to connect with the story. A fast marriage under tense circumstances leaves Lady Isabel Carlyle and Viscount Rutherford reeling to get to know one another. The mysterious deaths of the Viscount’s two prior finances and attempts to end Isabel’s life make trusting one another difficult in this fast-paced page-turner.

Remember His Name (Remember My Name Series Book 2) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Barbara Stegall July 2021
Well-being a second book it took most of the book to get a glimpse of the main character from the first book. It seemed a little strange how it started. I can’t believe this one also ended in a cliffhanger!!!!! The book is well written and I enjoyed learning about Wren’s life. I just wanted to wrap him in a hug! Now to wait on the next book to find out if the bad guys gets what he has coming.

Such a charming story about a young woman finding her way in love and her career. The main character, Chelsea, is endearing but self deprecating and needs to be reminded of her value. We all need that in life once in a while. Her lack of self esteem leads her to pick men that are not ideal. Her roommate and brother’s best mate offers to show her what a relationship with a nice guy looks like. A great read that will keep you enchanted for the duration. Loved it!

Unlikely In Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) by Olivia Sherwood is a sweet romance that is about two people meeting and maybe finding love where it was never expected. This is not my first book by this author but I know what I am getting when I pick up one of her books. I know that I am getting an adventure that I won’t be able to put down. I love her writing style and her creation of characters. Her characters are true to life and connectable. They will pull you into their world and make you feel like you are right there with them. You will get pulled in from the first word until the last. Find out what happens to these characters as they form a bond and friendship that may last a lifetime.
Annabelle Cleaver finds herself sitting in a lawyers office listening to the last will and testament of the only relative she ever really loved. She has been stuck in a small town in Oklahoma and is confused as to what comes next. What will happen when her high school crush moves back to town? On top of coming back, he asks for a job on her farm. How complicated will her simple life get?
Wyatt Holloway is returning from three tours overseas a broken man. He has demons that haunt him night and day. What will happen when he realizes that the girl from high school needs help on her farm? He does the only thing he can think of, asks for a job. He seems to be drawn to her but she has always held his interest.
Annabelle and Wyatt’s relationship is one that starts out as employee-employer but turns into something more. They know each other from high school but the funny thing is that neither one know each others feelings for each other back then. Now, will they figure it out? Will they find love despite the odds going against them? You will fall in love with these characters. They really do complement each other, they are just so good together. You will find yourself hoping that they will figure out how to get their HEA. He is just so broken, will she heal him? He is sweet, charming, smart and independent despite how broken inside he is. She is sweet, smart and compassionate and saddened by the death of her beloved grandmother. Their banter back and forth is funny, funny and keeps the story flowing. There were parts in this story that I just wanted to say, wake up and see what is right in front of you. Will they realize just how deep their feelings really go? You will need to read this story to get the whole feeling of just how sweet this story is. Find out what happens with Annabelle and Wyatt, will they find their HEA?
I loved Olivia Sherwood’s last series and I love the start of this one. I can’t wait to read more from this series. Ashlie is a small town mom who lives in Oklahoma and loves to write. She love to buy books knowing that it will leave her smiling at the end. When she is not writing you can find her watching the Food Network, Netflix or HGTV. She also loves to spend time with her daughter and son. Once again, she has brought her characters to life on this page and make them pop right off the page. I read this book in one sitting and totally lost track of time while reading this book. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see the start of this author’s new series and also what happens to Annabelle and Wyatt.

Book 4 in the Antipodes series just might be my favorite so far. Finally settling into a peaceful life, Cam and Freyja vow to never leave the sanctuary of the dome again. But when people from their past bring devastating news, Frey just can’t resist venturing out one more time in search of answers. This series dives deep into the fact that no matter what, even in what is supposed to be an almost perfect world, people still struggle. Loss, tragedy, heartbreak, all affect those on Lewis. Caim is a fantastic novel. This book takes the reader down a darker turn than the previous books and I loved it. The characters are amazing, and their joy, heartache, and love are felt by the reader through and through. The final twist at the end of the book left me wanting more. I can hardly wait to read book 5.

I was excited when I saw this audible and couldn’t wait to start listening to it. I loved this audible. The narrator pulled me into the story by tones of voice. The characters are engaging and connectable. I enjoyed how the narrator would use different tones for each one of them. This was a fun story to listen to on my way to work, I hated to have to stop it. This is a second chance romance story that will keep you coming back for more. It is the first one in this series and I can’t wait to listen to the next one as well. This is a story about Cadence and Fitz. Cadence is quiet and Fitz is a bad boy she shouldn’t have fallen for. What will fate have in store for these two? I highly recommend listening to this audible to find out. You don’t want to miss this first story in this series.

Captured by the Viscount by Wareeze Woodson captured my attention from the moment I was introduced to the main characters, Isabel and Matt. Isabel is a sweet woman who was trying to set things right and escape a terrible situation in her life, but was interrupted in doing so due to Matt pointing a gun at her heart. Isabel is given a choice to either marry Matt for stealing or goal. From that moment on, the author makes us question what will happen next. I kept thinking I knew what would happen next, but was thrown for a loop! I felt the characters’ fears, love, sadness and anger. I was unable to stop reading because I wanted to find out what would happen next. The only thing I disliked about this book was the fact that some scenes in the book didn’t give enough detail for me to clearly feel like I was in the book witnessing it. All in all, I would read this book again.

Sex on Fire by Ashley Bostock is book one of the Naughty Neighbor series. This book was a quick read but totally worth it!
Poppy’s neighbor is the hottest man she’s ever seen. She knows that all the women in the neighborhood fawn over him so she’s sure she has no chance. Turner knows all the stares he gets but there is only one woman he wants. Poppy is in disbelief that out of everyone, she’s the one Turner wants. Will Poppy be able to believe she’s the one?
This book is cute! I love the banter between Poppy and Turner. You can tell they have chemistry. Such a great quick read!!

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the series A Parker Lake Novel by Olivia Sherwood. This is the fifth book I have read by Olivia and she never disappoints. I absolutely love Olivia’s writing style, it is a beautiful and easy read that you will love from the first word to the last. The chemistry between the characters was wonderful and honest and I found myself laughing out loud at their easy and sweet banter and when times were tough I found myself tearing up. Olivia has the knack to keep you engaged from the start and you will find yourself at the end before you are willing to let go.
Annabelle Cleaver is dealing with the loss of the one person who loved her, when her high school crush walks into her life. With her besties by her side Annabelle is sure to never go under. Wyatt Holloway has come home a broken man who is trying to find himself again after serving three tours with the army. When he sees the beautiful girl from his past she may just be the one thing he needs.
The friendship between Annabelle and her besties had me laughing out loud and found it totally relatable. I truly can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Olivia is one author you need to add to your reading list.

Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils San Diego MC is the first part of Nirans story. I love each and every MC story Manda Mellett has written and this one didn’t take long to suck me in like all the others. This story is a cliffhanger, because it’s a two part book, and I can’t wait to get my hands on remaining story to see what happens with Niran and Saffie. Make sure you have a few free hours when you pick up this book, because you won’t want to put it down

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. Ms. Mellett is one of my go to authors. I have read most of her books. I’m not really a big MC reader, but this author puts such interesting twists in her Satan’s Devils Universe that her books are impossible to put down. This one is different as it has two parts and the first one ends on a cliffhanger, which I can’t wait for the second part to see how it ends. This book features Saffie and Niran and is a bit darker than the rest of Ms. Mellett’s books. There may be triggers for some, but the author does a good job of diving into deeper subjects of things that happen in some MC clubs. This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I was grabbing for the tissue box more than once. If you love MC Romance this is the series for you.

Jane Suen is not a new author to me. When I see her books, I will definitely pick them up because I know I will like them. This book is full of 3 short stories and 1 bonus story. My favorite one is Grits Girl. It is a love story that starts over grits. It is a touching story that made me smile. I shared this story with my husband because we met over a similar experience. The other stories are just one or two pages and are quick reads. The Accident brought tears to my eyes, while The End of Summer made me realize that we should have adventures. I highly recommend this book.

Cadence Untouched (Cadence Duet: A Second Chance Romance Book 1) by Dakota Willink
This is the first part of a two book series about Cadence Riley and how he world gets turned upside-down one summer while working at her family’s camp and worth every minute I spent listening to it. I got so caught up in the story listening to Zachary Webber (one of my favorite male narrators) Lacy Laurel who is new to me. They both were able to bring the characters to life in my mind and to be honest I haven’t stopped thinking about them and what’s going to happen next.
I’m so looking forward to listening to the second book and finding out what happens to both Cadence and Fitz over the years.

Beginnings and Endings is a collection of four short stories. Each one is unique, and really hits home as far as lessons that can be learned from them. The stories touch on how a single moment can change our entire lives. I enjoyed the stories and the length of each was appropriate. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. The last story is so so sweet!

Lost Bastard Audio Book by India Kells is a Dark Sparrow Novel. This is one of those books that has a bit of everything – action, romance, bad boys and so much more. The story kick straight off with a bang and barely gives you time to catch your breath.
I was drawn to each of the characters for such different reasons and they really make the book interesting.
For me however what really tops this audio book into fantastic is the narrator. He absolutely nails all the different accents and personalities. I could clearly tell each of them apart and really got a feel for them all. I couldn’t stop listening to him narrate the book.
This is fantastic book by a brilliant author and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The way the author writes about Wren’s life, from him being bullied, to the abuse at the hands of his father, to struggling with his gifts as an empath and all that entails makes you feel every emotion and like you are battling everything with him. This is a M/M romance Thriller. When Wren’s husband is murdered he sets out to find his killer. After Wren struggles with making his husband believe him that bad things are going to happen to him when it actually happens Wren is the main suspect in his murder. You are then taking on a journey full of twists and turns are Wren tries to uncover who murdered his husband before the murderer claims his next victim and to clear his name for the murder of the man he loved.

Beginnings and Endings: A Selection of Short Stories by Jane Suen is a collection of short stories that are heart warming and emotional. I was surprised by the level of detail the author had managed to fit in to such short books. Nothing felt rush or forced, they all just flowed so easily. I love how versatile this author is. All of her books are so different from each other but each are just as well written and interesting. I really enjoy the fact that I never know quite what I am going to get when I start then next one. This is a great book and one I would certainly recommend.

This is an author I have enjoyed from the first book of hers I picked up. I was excited to pick up this audible. I enjoyed the narrator’s voice and how they gave life to the characters. With the changing of voice tones, it made the story fun to listen to. This is a story of drama, suspense, mob and gangs, what more could you ask for in a story. The twists and turns had me wanting to know what would happen next. This was an entertaining story that I found to be engaging and the characters were easy to fall in love with. I loved this audible and highly recommend it.

This is the first book in the Southern Promises Series. It is a beautiful romance about two people who went to school together meeting up again at their high school reunion and falling in love. The characters are well written that you feel invested in them. What I liked about this story was there wasn’t any danger of someone splitting them up. This romance grew and blossomed.
Clay is a songwriter and Katie is a successful insurance executive. Both of them have successful lifes and have done well since school. Clay has always liked Katie but always felt she was out of his league but now that’s changed.
When they meet again at the school reunion the sparks and attraction was still there and after spending the night together they decide to give a long term relationship a try. Can they make it work? Both are focused on their careers but will they be able to make room for each other in their lives?

This is a full length novel. Set around MC’s, gangs, romance and family drama. The suspense will be your biggest reward. Not for those under 18 due to violence and adult themes.
Deva Landry has escaped her princess life, and her MC family as well. She has escaped an unwanted marriage, and now there is a price on her head. She must keep her head about her and keep low. Trouble comes when she is asked to take care of Aleksei, an underground fighter. That is where she could be in danger. Can she protect Aleksei as well as herself in this story? Will she survive the fight of her life?
India Kells you have done it again! Well wrote and loaded with twists and turns. Just when I felt it was safe to set the book down, you drop in chaos. So therefore I stayed up all night, with this page turner. I love the characters and admire the strength Deva holds. I can’t wait to start the next book in this series. Well Done India Kells! Well Done!!
