THE DEVOTED FAN (21ST Century Courtesan Book 5) by Pamela DuMond writing as P. S. DuMond – Review by Katie Matthews

THE DEVOTED FANTHE DEVOTED FAN by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After book. 4 in this series I was so excited to read the final book The Devoted Fan and it didn’t disappoint! I thought I had got everything worked out about what was going to happen but no the author definitely had some twists in store. I have loved this series and didn’t want it to end and I think it’s safe to say Ms DuMond has certainly saved the best book for last! After Evie’s injury at the end of the last book I was intrigued to see just who was out to get her and the author definitely kept me on my toes and me guessing throughout! I really like Evie and have loved reading about her!

Although this series is over, I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This book and series has been addictive to say the least. I really enjoy the author’s writing style and the way the story is woven together. Just the right balance of paranormal greatness, suspense, and romantic chemistry. A hard book to walk away from, I had to finish it in one sitting. Loved it.

Braelynn Shaw is a defense lawyer defending the rich and the worst of society. She finds herself in deep when she commits murder. Will she get help from her secret lover? The book had me captured from the very start. I found at times I was holding my breath hoping beyond hope all will turn out for Braelynn Shaw. Although she committed murder I was cheering her on. The author has a way of making you feel compassion for the characters. I looked forward to Book 2 and getting to know the other characters in the mafia family.

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart Book 1) by Melody Calder – Review by Lisa Helmick

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1)Sexy Drug by Melody Calder
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked the idea of this book. I was eagerly ready to read it and get down to the nitty gritty. What I struggled with is the description of every little thing. There would be paragraphs of description then one line of dialogue. I am a person who need more dialogue. The descriptive is fine to set the scene but then let the characters be free to talk and move. Due to this the book seems to be way to slow. It picked up and got more interesting during the last half.

This is a cliffhanger and I wonder if that is why the story is slow. Basically filler to drag out the story for more books. Sorry I am not a fan of cliffhangers either.

As for the characters..Ramone has real promise. Strong and smart but not too smart. Katie is in a tight spot. Hopefully her character can get stronger and figure out how to break away. Carl is just exactly what someone would think when thinking of a crime lord.

Overall this is an okay book. I love the idea of the story. The characters are pretty spot on and solid. I would enjoy more dialogue and less minute by minute.

Going in to this book I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, I’m not a huge paranormal fan but I really like this author but the story was amazing. Full of so much emotion I was completely captivated by what I was reading. I felt what the characters did and I thought the author just did a wonderful job with them. There were some unexpected twists and turns and it was actually a really though provoking read too that made me think about what I was reading.
Overall an amazing read and one that I would highly recommend!

I loved this book! I knew when I read the synopsis, I was excited to read it and I wasn’t wrong. It was such a captivating read and I loved every minute of it. This author is new to me and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future and Dirty Kisses and Conflicting Wishes is certainly an excellent start to ‘Kiss Me’ series! I really liked Damien, I liked him from the very beginning and the chemistry between him and Zoe was undeniable – even if they did try and deny it at times! I loved the plot surrounding these two, friends, enemies, slight forbidden romance it had it all! I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!

THE DEVOTED FAN (21ST Century Courtesan Book 5) by Pamela DuMond writing as P. S. DuMond – Review by Karyn Taylor

THE DEVOTED FANTHE DEVOTED FAN by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Devoted Fan is the 5th and final book in the 21st Century Courtesan series by Pamela DuMond. I wouldn’t advise reading this series as standalones. It will read and flow better if read as a series in order. I have loved this series so far and couldn’t wait for Evie to finally get her HEA. I had hoped for a while that it would be with Wyatt but that was not to be. When Wyatt passed away I then hoped she’d find her true one in Wyatt’s brother Easton. Will Evie finally get a HEA?
I really loved this book. Evie is troubled with coming to terms with Wyatt’s death and her growing feeling for his brother Easton. Although Wyatt did make it clear that this is what he wanted for Evie once he passed.
There’s a lot of drama and intrigue in this book with ‘the devoted fan’ becoming more and more deranged and no longer ‘devoted’ placing Evie in a great deal of danger.
This is a great book which ties up all the loose ends from the whole series, including long time boyfriend Dylan. It’s all brought to a dangerous and exciting conclusion that I was totally engrossed in.
Loved this book and loved the whole series. Definitely recommend The Devoted Fan.

This is the first I’ve read by Melody Calder, and it didn’t disappoint! What a twisted world Katie lived in with a father like Carl. With her life in danger, Ramone is tasked with keeping her safe. He’s told not to touch, and expects it to be no issue because after all, Katie is just the spoiled princess daughter of the boss… right? It ends up being so so much more, and left me hanging! I’ll be back for the second book!

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen

Five Stars

Life’s a Witch: A Frightfully Fun Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes Series by Carrie Pulkinen. This series is so delightfully funny, with witty dialogue and amazing characters. I think this book is my new favorite. Crimson and Mike have such chemistry and the stuff they get into is hilarious. Ms. Pulkinen’s writing is so descriptive it really makes the characters pop. If you like fast paced fun paranormal romance I would highly recommend this series.

Hollie Jackson has narrated the first three books in this series, and does a wonderful job. Her voice is smooth and easy on the ears. She really brings the characters to life.

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart Book 1) by Melody Calder – Review by Stephanie Chapman

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1)Sexy Drug by Melody Calder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found Sexy Drug to be a very character centered book. Melody Calder was able to draw my interest in with the constant turmoil within Ramone fighting his feelings and keeping the facade of a killer. Katie’s hatred towards her father runs deep, and she tries to thwart his control at every interaction. She Also has a deep-seated hatred as she suspects Carl’s right-hand Danny to be the one that caused her mother’s disappearance. What I found unique about the plot was that the assassin had a voice. Going by the name of K, he is determined to finish his mission or face a gruesome death at the hands of the unknown person that has hired him. The details of this book are gruesome, and I would caution anyone adverse to extreme violence and bloody death scenes to proceed with extreme caution. The ending was climatic and left off leaving me questioning the true motives of Ramone and Carl Rosemand. I also wonder if K is given another chance to kill Katie or if his botched sniper attempt has cost him his freedom. I can solidly give this a 5-star rating as the plot compliments the character development and kept my interest that I read the entire book in one sitting.

I had to go back and double check that this book was only 108 pages.
I truly think that it takes a huge amount of talent to put so much “story” into just 108 pages.
From the very first uncomfortable moment in Wexler’s office through all the tuff times and ooooo so sexy parts this book had me hooked.
Cam Johns and Sonya Jesus make one dynamic duo of talent. The flow of the book is AMAZING.
I’m extremely excited to see how these two continue their co-writing.

THE DEVOTED FANTHE DEVOTED FAN by Pamela DuMond

ALL the Stars

The Devoted Fan is the fifth and final book in the 21st Century Courtesan Series by Pamela DuMond. OMG!!!! I have been hanging out since we started this journey back in book one to find out how everything played out in the end!!! I read this book 3 times before I felt like I could put it aside and write my review. This has definitely been a bittersweet read for me- finally finding out how Evie’s story ends, but also knowing that this was the final instalment ☹ and sooooo not being ready to say goodbye quite yet.
But having said that, I FLOVED the story!!!! Pamela DuMond has upped the anti, yet again, and wove a complex, multi-layered, suspenseful, and addictive delight!! I know I keep saying it, but this is just so ADDICTIVE!!!! I am in a such a book funk now because I’m not sure when or how I will get my next fix!!! I hope Pamela DuMond has something in the works for me to get my hands on sooooooon- but in the mean time, I will be re-reading this riveting series from start to finish- again.
As the story continues from the previous books, I really do recommend reading the other instalments before starting on this one- as they contain lots of backstory, character introductions, twists and turns, and other important information which will enhance your reading experience of this book, and the series as a whole.
I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s worth repeating again- this series is wonderfully original, with plenty of complexity, layers, intriguing developments, and clever interconnected details. Ms. DuMond weaves a rich and textured story with wonderful attention to detail and with a vividly descriptive quality to her scene setting, character creation, and story development. This book is dark, sexy, and very emotive- with plenty of danger, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and dramatic developments. It ties everything together beautifully making for a compelling read… I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, put it down until I had read every last word- devouring it in one sitting, before turning around and reading it again, and again.
I am expectantly awaiting to see what Ms. DuMond does next! I can’t wait!!!! I need it like yesterday!

Thank you, Pamela DuMond, for such an addictive ride and giving us Evie and the 21st Century Courtesan series- one of my all time favourite reads!!!

Cam Johns began her career as a published author in 2016 with the release of her first book – Arousing Consequences – to the trilogy, The Arousing Series. However, actually publishing wasn’t part of her plan. After her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she found writing became a great way to relieve the tension and mounted pressures that come with watching someone she loves suffer from such a harsh diagnosis. It was her husband that pushed her to share her voice, regardless of how erotic that voice would become.

Live. Love. Laugh. A well-known mantra that has become her way of living. Live, by accepting the things you cannot change. Love, the ones closest to you as if there’s no tomorrow. Laugh, each day because sadness will get you nowhere!

Sonya’s a nerd—a cool nerd—who loves science, books, make-up and unicorns. She even has unicorn slippers and unicorn plushes adorn her office. It’s not obsession (or so she says), it’s simply an ode to her imaginative side.

She believes in fairytales and in the beautiful things a mind can conjure. She’s a firm believer of empowering the crazy fictional ideas, putting them down on paper (figurative paper because she’s not a fan of writing in notebooks), and letting them flourish into a story. Sometimes that story is about psychos and murders.

Don’t believe me? Ask her in any of her social media. She’s all about those connections.

Sons of Sindicato (Sons of Sindicato ) by Cam Johns & Sonya Jesus – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Sons of Sindicato (Sons of Sindicato #0)Sons of Sindicato by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read from either of the authors…but it definitely won’t be the last!

This book focuses on Braelynn and Seth. Braelynn, also known as Shaw, has just been named partner in the law firm she works at. She is a criminal attorney and the mafia men call when they need help. However, her life is about to change when an encounter with another partner sets her on a path she never saw coming. The man she calls to help her is also the man she is having a secret relationship with.

Seth is the son of the head of the Sindicato. After meeting Shaw as she was getting him off of murder charges, he now finds himself sneaking away to spend weekends with her because his family will not approve of their relationship. However, when the unthinkable happens, Seth and his family are there to help Shaw. This leads to their relationship coming out in the open and having to confront his father about it. Can he make his dad see that his heart doesn’t abide by traditions? And what happens when evidence comes to light that can change the dynamics of the Sindicato?

I really enjoyed reading Shaw and Seth’s story. There was love and murder….drama and justice…and some humor thrown in. I am looking forward to reading Dane’s story in the future.

Sexy Drug (Losing My Heart #1)Sexy Drug by Melody Calder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sexy Drug is the first book I have read by Melody Calder, but I LOVED it. I cannot wait to read the rest of the Losing My Heart series. I was instantly hooked and didn’t want to put it down. Lucky for me, I was passenger on a road trip, so I got to read it all in 1 night. However, it had such a cliff hanger ending that I am left wanting more. The book focuses around Katie, the daughter of a drug lord/cartel leader. When there is an attempt on her life, her dad assigns her a body guard, Ramone. The reader and Katie first believes he is just hired muscle, and one of the “bad guys” but we soon see there may be something deeper. There are hints and clues into his past, and who he really is, but it is never fully revealed. I love that the mystery remained throughout. I love reading mafia books, but this one takes the cake. Highly recommend this book, and cannot wait to read the next book.

The Earl’s Scandalous Wager by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Kimberly Shirah

The Earl's Scandalous WagerThe Earl’s Scandalous Wager by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Historical Fiction has always been a favorite of mine. Wareeze Woodson wrote an amazingly sweet novel with great historical detail and that lets you sink into the story. I could hardly put it down.

Emily Riventon is used as collateral for her stepbrother’s wager. Unfortunately for Emily, her step brother loses, the game of chance and we start our story with Phillip Beckely Benton, the Earl of Lenbridge. From here the story starts to get real good. This book kept me entertained and I couldn’t stay away.

I enjoyed the characters that Woodson brought to life. Sometimes when we are in the Earl’s point of view, to me the flow was a little unsettled at times. Although, not enough that I would rate it any less stars.

Blue Summer Part One by Everly Taylor – Review by Elizabeth Rosenberg

Blue Summer Part OneBlue Summer Part One by Everly Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blue Summer Part One is a quick read with wit and humor, steamy romance, and magic. Lillie is a strong and independent woman who is used to only being able to depend on herself. One day, her purse is stolen and she runs into two Zayed while trying to recover it. The Zayed are blue humanoid creatures that rather remind me of an old childhood favorite. The Zayed have been in conflict with an evil sorcerer for many years, and this brief contact with the Zayed now has Lillie in the sorcerers sights! When the Zayed take her back to their village, she must figure out her place and discover if she’s strong enough to help the Zayed prevail. My only critique is that I do wish the story did not seem so rushed. The entire first part spans less than two days. The story ends on a cliffhanger that will definitely have you looking to buy the next part! I look forward to getting to read it!

Antipodes is a unique young adult dystopian story set in and around Australia. Cam is a man in his 20s who lives in Australia with his mom, dad, and older sister. He attends college and is pretty content with his life until he hears about a deadly outbreak in Europe that will soon affect the entire world. Cam is chosen to go to an island with a few hundred other individuals and start a new community, safe from the outbreak. Cam is a very relatable character who struggles with survivors guilt. He finds friendship and companionship and does his best to contribute to the new society. One day, his girlfriend Freja disappears and Cam is left wondering where she could’ve gone. He eventually stumbles upon an antipode, which is a portal between two locations, and he finds himself in Scotland. He makes new friends and learns more about himself. But the memory of Freja still haunts him so he continues his search. This book is well written and I had a hard time putting it down. I’d definitely recommend it!

THE DEVOTED FANTHE DEVOTED FAN by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Devoted Fan is the fifth book in the 21st Century Courtesan book and what a book it was. With every book, I believe that this is the best one of the series and that includes this book. Pamela DuMond has the ability to write you (the reader) in the story with all the other characters. The plotline is just hustling along. I was so enthralled by this book that I forgot what I was supposed to be doing for the day. Her characters bring this story to life. They are fully developed and complex in nature. This is a story about what Karma can do to you. I learned a big lesson from this book about Karma and how it can really mess with you. Do you know what Karma can do? I highly recommend this book to find out. I would say that you will need an afternoon to read the whole book and trust me you are going to want to finish this book.

Everly Taylor is a newer author to me and with that being said, I cannot wait to read some of her other books. Blue Summer has a nice easy, but fast pace at the same time, story. It has a meaty plotline that will hold your attention. The characters are full of zeal and life. They are well written with many details to make them real in your imagination. Lillie takes us on an adventure. The community of Zayed changed Lillie’s life. Will Lillie figure out what is going on around her before it is too late? Why is she so drawn to the Zayed community? I cannot wait to see what is in store in book 2. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Original. Engrossing. Page-turner. These are just a few words that I’d use to describe T.S Simons’ Antipodes. The storyline for this novel was organic, unique, creative and unpredictable. With reading any novel the reader has an inkling of the outcome. T.S captivates the reader’s attention with artistic curveballs and a storyline that makes you sit up and take notice. There were multiple elements encompassed in this story that made the storyline more thought-provoking.

Third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. OMG One paragraph in and I was hooked! I loved everything about this audiobook. Crimson Oliver the “bad” witch just can’t seem to get it together.  Things just seem to go from bad to worse for her until she meets her demon Mike, the Devil’s Advocate.

Faced with the threat of having her powers forever bound, Crimson hastily challenges the Head Witch to a battle of magic that she can’t possibly win with her current abilities. Enter Mike, the recovering Devil’s Advocate. Crimson and Mike have undeniable chemistry and are just starting to delve into their relationship when Mike accidentally makes a deal with Crimson to sell her soul to the devil.

This book has me seeking out other books by Carrie Pulkinen!  You won’t be disappointed.

Cursed whispers is a really good book about witches and werewolves. This is the 1st book i’ve read in the series but I didn’t feel lost because it filled in the background pretty well. I will definitely have to go back and read the 1st two books in the series. The witches in this story all have unique powers like Max being able to speak to animals. The love Max shows for Claudia and her daughter right after meeting them is really sweet. The book was entertaining and had a lot of details that made the characters more realistic.

An Unexpected BondingAn Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked this story. I was a little apprehensive as I don’t normally read romance, and there were echoes of ‘Twilight’ in the theme (which I did not enjoy), but it was recommended to me, so I decided to give it a go. Very glad I did! The characters are fantastic, all of them brought to life with their own unique personalities and challenges. Livia is an amazing heroine, brave, strong, and very relatable. I loved seeing her find her inner strength, and refusing to compromise on the things that matter to her. The plot was well-thought out, and kept me hooked throughout the book. Some steamy sections, but overall they were secondary to an awesome story and adventure. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

When I say it is a paranormal romance, I mean its paranormal! Shifters, Vampires, Fae, Egyptian mythology- Lilly Rayman really hit a homerun with this. I was a little lost in the beginning because she throws a lot at you so fast but once the story gets going it truly is worth finishing and to say I am exciting for the next book is a huge understatement. Livvie has my heart and soul, she was such a relatable main character and I loved how strong she was even when she was struggling with all she had to face.
