Next Door Knight (Man’s Best Friend Book 2) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Next Door Knight (Man's Best Friend #2)Next Door Knight by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

  • Next Door Knight is book 2 in the Man’s Best Friend series by Nicole Flockton. As this was my first read by this author, I was going in unaware of the style, rhythm or pattern of this author and her work. It was a great joy to discover the story was exactly what I love about a romantic love story. The ones that are hard fought are the best!!! And it was a struggle for Kerry and Caleb. Both had damage that was evident in the way they carried themselves. But perseverance, persistence, patience and a bone deep connection and attraction would prove to be undeniable. Add in the furry little friend factor, and that is what typically goes into a quality, 5 star story. It was an experience to watch these two, who had endured so much, find each other and be able to open their hearts, minds and lives so they could bring out the best in each other. A beautiful sight to behold. 5 stars.View all my reviews

Until Fools Find Gold (Providence Gold Book One) by Mary B Moore – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Until Fools Find GoldUntil Fools Find Gold by Mary B. Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Until Fools Find Gold: A Providence Gold Series and Until Series Crossover by Mary B. Moore, is a brilliantly told story that I became obsessed with. I was consumed by these characters. My heart broke, then mended, my tears were plentiful, then I would laugh hysterically. A rollercoaster  of emotions felt is putting it mildly. I was totally caught up in all that was Luna and Noah. This couple shredded me. The made me whole again. A tumultuous affair that touched my heart indescribably and entirely. Having not read Mary B. Moore’s work before, I went in with an open mind. And then it was blown away. Stories such  as this one will never cease to thrill, impress and humble me. They give so much more than you could ever anticipate, and they leave you ready for more, but with such a sense of fulfilment and contentment, you almost need a little lay down to recover from the emotional ride you just survived. You know you have something special whenever the first page is turned, and that is a feeling like no other. 5 stars.

Man with the Mafia (Man With, #2)Man with the Mafia by Debra J. Falasco
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Man with the Mafia by Debra J. Falasco is a story that simmers at the start, only to end in a blazing, hot finale. This is my first taste of this author, and what a delicious treat it was.

Vincent Manetti is a hot, italian mystery. Deirdre Collins is a sassy broad that has endured much, and gives more, despite this. Jer love of life was not extinguished, and Vincent was smart enough to see the beauty that was all hers. This story was intense, intense, intense. The build had my heart tripping and my nerves taut. I honestly can say it was a splendid read. This author is one I will revisit. The story was delivered flawlessly, dramatically, and honestly. The characters entertaining and believable. I could not get enough. 5 stars

Pandora's Price (Hart & Cole Book 3)Pandora’s Price by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Pandora’s Price is book three in the Hart & Cole series by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné. A dynamic series that captivates and titillates. A cast of characters that take your breath away, astound you and leave you desperate for more.

Darren and Luisa’s saga continues and the drama just builds, achingly tantalising, creating a nail biting intensity that showcases the brilliance that is in every paragraph. The characters are complicated, difficult, but simple in their base wants and needs. They crave the most simplest things. Want, love, acceptance, forgiveness, kindness, tolerance, understanding. The feelings these characters brought out in each other was so mesmerising, so passionate. I could not have wished for a more explosive drama. It was everything. 5 stars

Yearning Young (Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2)Yearning Young by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yearning Young is book two in the Burning Britely series  by Deidre Huesmann. Braeden and Jeff’s story continues in this easy to read tale.

Braeden has a lot going on and struggles to work it all out and get a handle on his feelings. He fell for Jeff quickly and very unexpectedly, which has him reeling. His home life is difficult, so all of that together is a huge weight for a young guy to carry on his own. I really loved how the author described his journey, from falling for Jeff, to working out what his next move would be. The emotions were first love at its most basic and real. I really engaged with these characters, and fell for them even more than I did in the first story. An impressive story that was witty, funny and soul touching. 5 stars

Blade’s Edge: Satan’s Devils MC #10 by Manda Mellett – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Blade's Edge (Satan's Devils MC #10)Blade’s Edge by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blade’s Edge is book ten in the Satan’s Devils MC series by Manda Mellett. This author always pens such easy to read dramas packed full of tension and emotion. Not to mention hot headed men and the women sent to try them.

Blade is the enforcer for the Satan’s Devils MC. Used to using any means necessary to gain information, he is not prepared for dealing with a woman instead. Tash has secrets that could bring the club to its knees. It made for very interesting reading. The style in which the story was written was so easy to escape into.  I got lost in everything that was Blade and Tash, effortlessly and excitedly. A lot of stuff happened in this story, and a lot of emotions were observed. With a lack of respect for women, Blade did not win my heart totally, but the story itself was high quality, so all was forgiven. A fantastic story that was a fine story to disappear into for a while. 4 stars.

The Slip Series Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Tracy Wilkin

The Slip Series CollectionThe Slip Series Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Slip series is a collection of three extremely hilarious stories by ultra talented author Gwyn McNamee. They comprise of Dickslip, Nipslip and Beaver Blunder. They are highly entertaining and some of the best written books I have ever read.

Dickslip

The title of this book was the first tick in the awesome box. The author was the second. I enjoyed this story with wild abandon. A guaranteed 5 star author, I knew this was going to keep me immersed and invested for hours.

Rafe is hilarious from the get go, and Andy a force to be reckoned with. Individually, these characters shined and delivered elements of humour, attraction, dramatics and edge. Together they sizzled. From one chapter to the next, there was always a lot going on. Crisis after crisis, Rafe and Andy handled everything thrown at them with wit, clumsy finesse, and passion.

I was totally enraptured by this latest incredible read by Gwyn McNamee. An assured top quality story that has a bit of everything. Readers will want to add this to their to be read list. A definite five star story.

Nipslip

Nipslip is book two in the Slip series by Gwyn McNamee. me just say how much I adore this author. These stories are short, sexy, very funny, slightly mysterious and hugely dramatic. These stories captivate and impress me infinately. Gwyn McNamee is such a talented author and one of my favourite.

The leading lady doesn’t have a lot of luck when a wardrobe mishap befalls her. Tate was a witness and was immediately inrigued by this stunning woman. The story just evolves beautifully, like slowly blooming flower. But tuere was nothing slow about the heat and intensity between these two. The story started out fast paced and rocketed to the finish way too soon. I would love to have kept reading this incredible story. 5 stars.

Beaver Blunder

Beaver Blunder is book three in the Scandalous Slipup series by Gwyn McNamee. It is yet another hilarious and sexy short story by an edgy author that is not afraid to change it up and create stories that are unforgettable. There are so many facets to these stories it is hard to put into words just how powerful and entertaining they are. Each character is one of a kind, and even though the storylines highlight some of the more embarrassing moments in these characters lives, each one is unique and offer a reader so much more than the standard rom com. I cannot get enough of these types of stories.

Madeline and Owen kept me awake and dreaming them when I slept. These characters will stay in my heart and mind always. 5 stars.

A must read series that is side splitting fun and will leave you with everlasting fond memories.

Fortitude by Carrie Dalby – Review by Tracy Wilkin

FortitudeFortitude by Carrie Dalby
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fortitude is a historical romance by Carrie Dalby. I was excited to go for a spin with this author, as I haven’t read her work before, and I am always keen to try something new and take a chance on the unknown and exciting.

Fortitude is a riveting tale set in 1898, and the leading character, Claire, had her work cut out for her. She went against the norm, in a somewhat volatile world. From having a Creole as a best friend and nursing the enemy, Claire went against the grain, not fitting into what was acceptable by society at the time. This story was so easy to read, so easy to relate to, so easy to escape into. I loved the way the author described her characters, the plot and the old style way. I love reading about the past, and this author’s spin on it was fantastic. An epic story that I totally disappeared in. 5 stars.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Burning BritelyBurning Britely by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a quirky and cleverly written coming out story. The leading man is Jeff. Jeff is smart, small and sarcastic. His intelligence wont allow him to suffer fools. He has zero patience and comes off as rude and unfriendly. He doesn’t trust easily and prefers his own company than that of others. He falls for Braeden and the road to their HEA is a rocky one.

Burning Britely was a story that I absorbed in one sitting. Jeff was an extremely complex character, but underneath it all, he was just like the next person. Acceptance was important, but his tough outer shell would never allow him to admit that. I loved everything that was Jeff and Braeden. The blossoming love story was beautiful, and at times heartbreaking. A little of everything thrown in to make for a riveting read. I cannot wait to read more. 5 stars.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

WTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michelle N. Onuorah is a story about the author’s personal spiritual journey and her relationship with God. It was honest, captivating and heartfelt. I think it would be hard to share this journey, as I believe one’s beliefs are so very personal, and it would be like bearing your soul to the world and for that world to have their opinion on the matter. It is a story that had me reflecting on my beliefs and my chosen path. In so little time, this author had me questioning everything. This story will make you think and will leave you grateful to have read such an honest and heartfelt story. 4 stars.

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December is written by Jane Suen. It is a fitting follow on from Flowers in December, and another great and riveting story.

Coming Home is a magical story of Connor and Mary Ann, Alana and Dottie. Loss, sadness, hopelessness all feature in their story. But love is a funny little creature. You find it the oddest of places, when you least expect it. Each character has there load to carry, and the author pens it out intriguingly and smartly. A great story to disappear into, with a cast that is easy to like, frustrating at times, always giving more to their audience. A quality story that just kept getting better. 4 stars.

Hazed (The Hazed Series Book 1)Hazed by Brittany Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hazed, book one in the Hazed series is written by Brittany Butler. It is a young adult romance that deal with a few issues which is more suited to a mature audience. I was taken in by this story from the beginning. Taylor’s character intrigued me, but Hayze captivated me. I wanted to solve the mystery that was him. The author was brilliant at spinning his story, keeping me on the knife’s edge. He was an enigma that had me very intrigued.

Taylor and Hayze were a puzzle desperately begging to solved. I loved everything about this story. The good, the bad, and the mystifying. There were ups downs and everything in between. Having not read this author’s work before, I went in not knowing what to expect. A joyful thrill was what it was. It was also emotional and gripping. Hazed is a 5 star story that will stun and dazzle. And leave you gasping for more.

Happily Ever After?: An Italian Relationship is book six in the Italian Saga series by Gaia B. Amman. I read the first book in this series, but have skipped to the sixth one. Oh well, it states that it is a self standing book, so here goes. Slowly paced, this story was a great read, and ticked all the boxes for a quality, easy to read story.

Leda and Sergio like each other. Leda and sergio kissed. Leda and Sergio gives readers an entertaining, honest and full of ups and downs. A very realistic look at young love and all the problems young couples face and how they deal with the drama. These characters were easy to like, easy to relate to, easy to enjoy. Dancing Queen by Charlotte Roth – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Dancing QueenDancing Queen by Charlotte Roth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dancing Queen is a funny and fabulous tale by Charlotte Roth. The story centres around Fiona. Now, Fiona has struggled with self image issues all her life. She loves to dance, but was cruelly told to reconsider due to her size. In a world where being a size zero is most women’s life goal, Fiona battled with herself every day. Fitting into this superficial world was hard for her. Her and her co-worker, Stu, join a dance competition, and the rest is a beautiful tale of self discovery, self worth, self belief, hard work, conquering seemingly impossible hurdles, and courage. Lots and lots of courage.

As a person who has had a lifelong battle with weight, I totally related to Fiona and her struggles. A tale told beautifully and honestly. A story I cannot recommend enough. 5 stars.

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1) by Keith Dixon – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves is book one  in the Solomon Gray series by Keith Dixon. I have not read this author’s work before, and boy was I missing out!! I cannot remember the last time I read a crime thriller, and I now remember why I love this genre.

Solomon Gray has had an incredibly chaotic and traumatic life. Unimaginable horror becomes his constant companion. Horror that would bring most men to their knees. Not Gray. He carries scars, but keeps them hidden well. His endurance is unfathomable, his courage immeasurable. He is driven to discover the truth and solve murder mysteries. He relentlessly seeks justice and makes no apologies if he upsets people along the way. The victims don’t have a voice anymore, so he won’t stop until their stories have endings.

I admired this character immensely. His struggles were brutal and heartfelt. I was totally taken with his story and was quite shocked at how much this book touched me. I have not read a book that wasn’t a romance for years, and I am so glad I got back into crime thrillers with this title. Suspense that was total intense anticipation. A master storyteller is Keith Dixon. 5 stars.

Claimed Royalty is book one in the Crowned and Claimed series by Betty Shreffler. This author gets to me every time. I get lulled into the story and  stay blissfully immersed until the very last word. I get lost in this style of writing and the clever way the story was delivered was incredible. Fantasy at it’s finest.

The Queen has a dilemma. She has so many suitors, and her heart wants none. Age  honoured tradition forces her to consider these men, while choosing one seems an impossible task. The author takes the reader on an anxious and exciting adventure. One where I fell for the Queen and her strong personality, her love for the taboo, and her tenacity.

Claimed Royalty had it all. Forbidden love, dastardly deeds, secrecy, passion, suspense, and potency. Sinister characters were also at play, keeping the anxiety levels at fever pitch. This author knows how to keep her audience hanging off every word, desperately eager to find out what  is instore for the Queen. But more than one man has captivated her attention. What will happen next? Stay tuned for book two.

A riveting and totally spellbinding story that will hold your attention captive, dazzle you, impress you, and frustrate. All this in one fantastic fantasy. 5 stars.

Broken Sand Dollar is the third and final instalment in the Sand Dollar series by JD Boudreaux. These stories are always highly energetic and extremely busy. So much goes on and the author conveys so much and gives away so little, which keeps you riveted to each page. It is almost impossible to put down and easy to lose yourself in.

In this story, the characters from books one and two all come together to give a reader a stunning conclusion to the series.  This book was romantic, emotional and totally captivating. The characters, while different, meshed together well and left wonderful memories of their journey. The tale grabs your attention and holds it captive until the last word.  Never lacking in complexity and depth, it was a great way to pass a lazy weekend. CLAIMED (The Torzial Affair Book 3)CLAIMED by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Claimed is book three in the Torzial Affair series by Via Mari. It is the stunning conclusion of Brian and Jenny’s emotional, suspenseful and thrilling journey. It has been a long and arduous journey, fraught with danger, tension, intrigue and love. Their love was hard fought and questioned by them many times throughout this saga.  I was not convinced their tale would end happily. I was praying they got their HEA together. They deserved their happy ending, and I fought along side of them right until the end. This author gives a descriptive and deeply emotional description of a love story. I felt frustrated with both characters at times, venting to no-one, and hoping that they could get it together.  My heart was full with mixed feelings. I wanted to read like it was my last book, but at the same time desperately tried to slow down to draw out the bittersweet intensity that followed this couple everywhere. The secondary characters were amazing and the story continued effortlessly along, blending the new with the old. It was incredible to read the Torzial Affair books, and it was an experience I will never forget and will cherish always. 5 stars.

There Be DemonsThere Be Demons by M.K. Theodoratus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There Be Demons is the first book in the Andor Demon Wars by M. K. Theodoratus. Intrigued by the blurb of the story, I could not wait to get into this young adult fantasy. This is not a genre that I have read a lot of, not because I don’t like it, I just don’t see a lot of books like this. Maybe I have been living under a rock!

Britt moves to a new town and not all is as it should be. She and her friends become hunters, joining forces with a Gargoyle squad to bring the demons down. This tale was simply fascinating and enchanting. The journey they embarked on was highly dramatic and extremely energetic. To be young again. Reading the story was a refreshing delight, and this author’s work is one I could get lost in again and again. Cannot wait for more. 5 stars.

Trouble's Wedding CaperTrouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is book eight in the Familiar Legacy by Jen Talty. A first read for me from this author, and although I am coming into the series rather late, I feel it is better late than never. Stories of finding love the hard way are some of my favourite, and I haven’t come across one that didn’t warm my heart. I felt good things about this story and  I was not disappointed.

Annabel goes home with a broken heart, and ends up with a unit full of treasure. But even that has trouble attached. She is a train wreck. Along comes Ethan and a black cat, and total chaos reigns supreme in her life. She falls hard for him and  her run of bad luck seems to bed relentless. She doesn’t want to risk giving her heart only to have it broken again. This tale is energetic, suspenseful, intriguing and funny. Trouble was the cherry on top of a fantastic story. I connected well with the characters and was always eager to turn the page and learn more. A brilliant tale that made me anxious to go back to the beginning and start from book one. 4 stars.

Surviving Grace is book five in the Surviving series by Virginia Wine. The quality that is evident with each story from this author is expected,  but always surprising just how good they end up being. I am never quite prepared for the impact of the storyline or its characters. But it delicious being along for the ride.

Grace survives a horrific attack and losing her memory. She struggles to come to terms with it all, especially when the nightmare she endured starts to be revealed. Everything seems out of her control and she is losing her grip on her wish to get back to some sort of normality. The direction she was heading suddenly takes an unexpected turn and she has a hard time keeping up. This story had so many surprises and twists, which just crept up on me. The way the story was penned was original and really easy to read. It flowed without causing a ripple and ensnared me until the last word. A delightfully suspenseful drama that is well worth taking a chance on. 4 stars.

Wish i Had a Nickel is book two in the Sand dollar series by JD Boudreaux. It is a tale of friends to lovers that was full of drama and feelings. This author brings the characters to life in a very clever and enthralling way.

Alex and Leigh were joined at the hip until separated by miles. They finally reunite, and begin on a journey of rediscovery and capturing back the connection they had so long ago. This story happened fast. So rast, I wasn’t ready for the finish. Each character is highly detailed, leaving no questions about who they are and what they want. Learning about them was exciting and breathtaking. The connection Alex and Leigh shared was riveting and certainly kept me glued to every word. I absorbed all that they felt, all that they wanted, all that they could give each other. It is always bittersweet when the end of such quality stories comes before you are aware it is happening. Seraphina’s Awakening (The Seraphina Series Book 1) by Sheena Hutchinson – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Seraphina's Awakening (Seraphina, #1)Seraphina’s Awakening by Sheena Hutchinson

Seraphina’s Awakening is the first book in the Seraphina series by Sheena Hutchinson. Another new author for me, and I was excited to see what was on offer. I am not one to stray too far from my favourite genre, but I don’t want to miss anything, so taking a chance is a must.

Seraphina has the power to see more than the average human. She finds herself a new person upon awakening one day, but is clueless as to how and why it happened. She has to piece together what has happened. A meeting with a stranger brings some clarity to her dilemma. With new powers comes strange being and too many eyes on her.
