Midnight in the House of Lang by Bree M. Lewandowski is a Dystopian/Romance. I’m going to be honest I was simply intrigued by the title and the cover is amazing. Dystopian is not normally genre would read. It took me a bit to get into the story but once I did I found myself lost in the pages and I had to know what was going to happen next. This is set in the future, the characters are very developed and the story is well written. Thea is a young woman who has had to run away from a life of luxury and glamour as war ravages the land. Captain Surov is a man whose life is about protection and service. There is definitely attraction between these two. Can these two have a future together with the raging battle going on? Find out what happens next in this must read book that at moments will have you on the edge of your seat to moment of pulling at your heart strings. I had my doubts at first but I’m glad I picked this book up .I really can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that will have you howling. This is number two in the New Orleans Nocturnes series, and they could be read as stand-alone, but I have loved them as a series as they just create a great backdrop. Sophie made me howl so much, she has major potty mouth, but it suited her character so well, in a weird way it made her more lovable to me. Trace is sublime, there is something sweet about him that will make your toes curl. The story is great, there are twists and mixups that will just make you chuckle, the chemistry is so explosive it should come with goggles. Do not miss this great read as it really will make your day.

A Moore Affair is the fourth book in the Moore FamilySaga by Michele Sims. This is the first book I have read by Michele Sims, I couldn’t couldn’t resist the cover of this book, so beautiful. However I’m now going back and reading the first three books in this series. This book flowed well and the characters are well developed and relatable. Bella and Ari have quite the chemistry and this book is full of action, adventure and passion. The twist and turns had me reading long after my bedtime. I just couldn’t put it down until the last page. I can’t wait to go back and read the first three books in this series and look forward to any upcoming books by Michele Sims. Review by @sunbarn

Mitcham continues to leave me breathless with each story. This latest addition to her Stalker series is absolutely no exception. I love her strong female characters. Genevieve is amazing and I truly loved following her journey through these pages. The author does an amazing job creating a riveting storyline that keeps you guessing from beginning to end. I cannot say enough how fantastic this book and series is. And I cannot wait to see how Mitcham continues this series. Loved every page!!

Midnight in the House of Lang by Bree M Lewandowski is a dystopian romance and is an interesting and intriguing read. It is a steampunk sci-fi and unique in Bree’s telling as she has cleverly woven the threads together with her wonderful world building. Her vivid words make the world seem real and the journey is set in a future where the world has been ravaged by war and society has been reduced back to horses and steam power to airships and much more. I am looking forward to seeing what Bree has in store for us next and where she will take us.

Anger (Hero High Book 2) by Mina Chara was a quick and easy read. I loved that I was pulled in easily to the works focusing on Hero High. The author gives a bit of back story similar to what you would see with a tv series. As in previously on…. I loved Friday once again in this second book and holy cow the slow build up between her and Ashley. I loved it. I can’t wait to read more on them. I was intrigued still with the golden syringe and there is definitely more going on. I can’t wait to read what happens in the next book! Such a great and fun read!

License to kill is a paranormal romance, but has a very different, and more current feeling, to others I have read in the same genre. Jane is a travel blogger and is visiting New Orleans during Mardi Gras, with her best friend Sophie, to experience everything there is to offer and document it in her blog. The girls find themselves slightly worse for wear and end up being rescued by dashing, yet brooding, vampire Ethan. The following day, still thinking about Ethan, Jane is fatally wounded in an accident and Ethan is forced to bite her in order to save her, but there is more behind his decision than first thought. I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story, it fitted well with the Mardi Gras setting. And the characters are fun and flirty, not your usual vampire story types, which made it even more enjoyable.

Enemies of Doves by Shanessa Gluhm is an intricate and in depth story of 2 brothers and the secrets they keep for a lifetime. I found this book to be unexpectedly emotional and completely captivating. Once I had started this book I simply couldn’t put it down. I devoured it all in one sitting and just wished it could have been even longer. I have never read anything by this author before and after reading this book I cannot understand why. Her writing was so good it completely grabbed my attention. The story was well written and woven together so well that I found myself entirely immersed in the book. I was at the end of it before I knew it because I just could not stop reading at all. The characters were what made this book really interesting. Getting to read about different ones in different timelines was brilliant. I know I will be giving this book a re-read and I will be checking out all other books by this author. You should definitely read this book!

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail and Day Al-Mohamed is an inventive retelling of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. It is an interesting story with a great cast of characters. These authors are both new to me so I had no idea what to expect when I started reading it. The book was definitely exciting in parts and a unique way to tell a well known story. I did find parts of the story a little slow but it picked up pace the further into the book you get. The characters were all well developed and had depth about them. The combination of writing styles in this book complimented each other well and created a seemless story. It was a great introduction to 2 new authors and I would certainly recommend this book.

This was a really good psychological thriller. Why, by Megan Mitcham is a very well written book. Very easy to read, the story flows effortlessly and keeps you intrigued and turning the pages one after another. Genevieve our heroine in this story has such a desire for justice and she’s driven to it even to her detriment. And I’m always looking for the story within the story and I really love the way the author deals with how we view our past and the guilt that we have over the different things in our past and how we deal with that. How it holds us back how it chains us to those events in the past and sometimes prevents us from moving on into the future. A good solid thriller even though the story does get a little bit hot and steamy and some may be a little uncomfortable with that.

I have been eagerly waiting for the second book in this series to arrive on my kindle – I LOVED book 1 – it was such a riveting and exciting read and I couldn’t wait to see if the author was able to continue that over into the next book and she absolutely did! We met the main character Genevieve in the first book and I was looking forward to finding out more about her! She was an awesome main character! She’s strong, sassy and good at her job as a prosecutor. With her new case a little more personal she is ready to defend her mentor but as expected there were some great twists and turns along the way! I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through with this story! It was yet again another outstanding read from Ms Mitcham! I am so, so looking forward to the next book in the series!

Anger is book 2 in the Hero High series and is set in the near future world of Icon City which is a haven for ‘powered one-percenters’. The story centres around Friday Fitzsimmons who is now in her second year at Hero High which is a famous school for people with powers. However Hero High is not just a school for trainee superheroes it is also a reality TV show and one of many on the Hero Channel. Friday discovers that she can not trust the ‘Hero Channel’ and that someone is lying to her but does not know who. Friday must stop the real super villains along with her hero, Captain Fantastic but is not sure who the actual bad guys are. Although this is a short story it packs a lot in and it has a fast paced storyline and the world building is great and really pulls you in so you feel totally immersed in Icon City. I like Friday as the main character as she is a strong and independent young lady but she is also very relatable as she suffers from anxiety but does her best to hide this especially from the cameras. I found the introduction at the beginning helpful explaining how Icon City came about and also a brief recap on book one which means you could read this as a standalone story. Personally I think you would appreciate the story better having read book one, Denial. It was an exciting read and a good second book, I look forward to future books in the Hero High series.

Who by Megan Mitcham is a great little thriller. It’s well written with great characters and the story flows really well. It’s a page-turner for sure. It was great fun trying to guess who the culprit was in this story. Larkin is all about business and she’s not about to mess it up with any personal relationships. Things don’t always turn out the way we plan. I thought I had guessed who the culprit was but as it turned out, I was only half right. It gets a little hot and steamy in areas and some of you may not be comfortable with that. All in all it was a good story

If you liked Denial, then you will love Anger. Mina Chara picks up right where Denial ended. I love the characters with her story. There is one small problem, you do not know who are the bad people and who are good people. One way Mina Chara held my attention is that every time I think I know who is who here comes a detail to deter me from finding out the answers I seek. It is a fast pace story. It kept me at the edge of my seat. The mystery and adventure will keep you wanting more and more. I highly recommend reading Denial first so you can get all of the groundwork for the characters as well as Icon City. Then I would read Anger to see what else is going on.

What a wonderful book, it had me gripped from the beginning and the story was brilliantly addictive. The characters within the story are very unique, creating a setting that is woven beautifully within the magical and fantasy elements, but a lot of detail has been put into this, which makes it even more interesting. I loved the relationship of the brothers, you see them going through every emotion trying to stop this war, and it certainly does put their relationship to the test.
I would 100% recommend this book, it has action, fantasy, magic, betrayal’s and secrets. It has you gripped from the very beginning.

Badge Bunny by KL Montgomery is book four of the Romance in Rehoboth series. This book can be read as a standalone but characters from the previous books are present in this book as well. This book is Brynne and Chris’ story.
Brynne doesn’t exactly find herself with a lot of free time due to her job. Therefore, she meets guys the only way she can. She can’t help that they happen to be police officers. But even so, her coworkers have dubbed her with the badge bunny nickname. She swears she’s done dating police officers after the last disaster but she certainly doesn’t expect to meet Chris shortly after swearing them off.
Chris is a Delaware State Trooper and finds himself pretty smitten with Dr. Miller. He can’t stop thinking about her and it works out in his favor that he’ll be spending a weekend in close proximity to her for his best friends wedding.
A series of events had Brynne and Chris bonding. Brynne starts to realize Chris may not be as bad as she originally portrayed him in her mind. Can Brynne let the police officer stereotype she has in her mind go and give Chris a chance? Will Chris finally be true to who he really is?
I really enjoyed this book. It evoked a lot of feeling but also had me laughing at some parts as well. You could definitely witness the growth of the characters by the end of the book and I was glad to be on that journey with them! Definitely a great book to read!

Read Between The Lines (Freshwater Book 1) by Belinda Williams is a contemporary romance story. Belinda has written the story that has included sensitive issues and has done a great job with it. The story has humour and lots of emotion and drama which makes it relateable and interesting. The characters are endearing, and fun and made for an enjoyable read. This is the second book in the series, and i liked it just as much as the first book. This is a young adult story that kept me turning page after page. This story has action, mystery and villains. Who is who? Who is watching? You don’t know exactly what is happening, and hopefully the MC finds out before its to late. I enjoyed the the story and the mystery of it and i am looking forward to reading more of this series and more by this author. I would recommend this to a friend! Happy Reading.

Enemies of Dovesby Shanessa Gluhm is a real surprise package, in the best possible way. This is Ms. Gluhm’s debut novel, so I wasn’t sure what to expect- but the blurb sounded intriguing so I took a chance and jumped right in. What I found was an intricately woven story full of wonderfully detailed and descriptive scenes that spun this story into a real web of intrigue. Full of suspense, family dynamics, secrets, mystery drama, jealousy, deception, regrets, emotion, love, lies, the truth, and sensitive topics, which all unfolds over duel timelines- made this an unputdownable read. I won’t get into the storyline here, because I don’t want to spoil it for you. I also think some books are worth diving into a little “blind” and letting the story surprise you. This is one of those books. I am highly anticipating Ms. Gluhm’s next novel, and can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!

Descendants of Time and Death is the second book in The Gods’ Scion series by Winnifred Tataw. This is my first book by Ms. Tataw, and I am regretting not reading the first book before diving into this one. While the story does make sense without having read book one- I think my reading experience would have been better if I’d known what had taken place in the first story. This is an action- packed adventure/fantasy with interesting world building and characters. Ms. Tataw has created an intricate world with unique characters, lore, culture, and beliefs. There are magic and fantasy elements, all woven around things we are more familiar with- making the story more relatable and believable. An interesting read!

This set has books four through six in the series and I loved each of them. Each story has Romance but it’s heavy on the humor and the schemes the couples find themselves involved alone are worth reading.
Badge Bunny is the fourth book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. I have been loyal to this series since book one and will continue to read the series as long as she writes them.
Brynne is my soulmate. Her love on the old school metal bands made me love her that much more. Chris is a big softy in a hot police officers body.
So much happened in this book, and I’m not sure which part was my favorite. I think it was one of their moments in the hospital after Chris had a rather interesting call.
Wedding Wars is the fifth book and it was great. I loved watching the little guy stand up to the giant and wish Mom and Pop shops could fight the evil empire big corporation stores.
Hannah and Jason have so much history with one another but it was adjacent not direct history which I think made their story that much sweeter and hilarious.
I still can’t decide my favorite scene, it’s either the carriage ride or the big wedding. Both of those had me flipping pages as fast as I could read them.
The final book in this set is Stage Mom and Hailey had me wrapped around her finger from the moment we met her. What an amazing little girl and her mom Larissa is responsible for that.
Mateo has great ideas on how to bring the pageant into the current century and making it his after his grandmother retired.
There are so many things I loved about this particular story, but they could be considered spoilers and I wouldn’t want to ruin anything for anyone.

The characters in this series are awesome with their interactions with each other, and they are relatable. K.L. Montgomery has a great talent for creating well done stories with amazing characters. I recommend this series.

5 Star Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare (Jake the Growling Dog Book 2) by Samantha Shannon
My two year old son absolutely loves his books and he instantly claimed this one,I honestly can’t tell you how many times we’ve read about Jake going to daycare. It’s a cute story that has a great message. Jake was worried he wouldn’t fit in or make any new friends at doggy daycare but he soon finds out it’s a fun place to be. Jake soon finds his friend Neet is along to help him not feel so alone. One positive thing I took away from this book is not to be afraid to step outside of your normal ,adventure can be fun if you allow yourself to be yourself. I love this series and we can’t wait to see what adventure awaits us next. I highly recommend reading this as it’s good for any age

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed set, books 4-6 are just as wonderful as the first boxset with books 1-3. K.L Montgomery has a way with words, that makes you feel like you’re right there alongside the characters. I love that they are all clean romantic comedies, with strong female and male leads. There is a lot of fun chemistry between the characters. Each can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel, each focusing on a new couple. There is mention and cross over characters from previous books, but they are just friends mentioned in passing. I love that each book has its own soundtrack. Badge Bunny is the first in the box set, and based on the name, I was a little worried about the content. Rest assured, it is clean and a good story. It follows Chris Everson, state trooper and Brynne Miller, ER MD. Both work crazy 12 hour shifts for the last couple of years, but somehow haven’t crossed paths until now . And now it seems like they see each other daily. Chris gets on Brynne’s nerves from day one, but try as she might, she cannot avoid him. Turns out they are even paired together at mutual friend’s wedding. During said wedding, they are brought to the test and must work together to save lives. Wedding War was hilarious. It is like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, following Jason Friday and Hannah Robinson. Their families have had a feud for as long as they both can remember, and neither knows why. They decide to join forces, in secret, to try to take down a new business in town. Both families are in the formal wedding ware business, and a discount store in town is set to put them both out of business. Hannah gets a job at the competitor and performs a bunch of pranks and ploys to destroy their reputation and hopefully put them out of business. Book 3 Stage Mom follows Larissa Emerson and Mateo Flores. Larissa is a single mom with a special needs daughter, in the Little Miss Rehoboth pageant. Mateo is the new director of the pageant and is tired of dealing with these uptight moms. However, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

Descendants of Time and Death (The God’s Scion Book Two) by Winnifred Tataw, was an interesting book. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect it sounded like a fantasy, but then there were planes in it and cell phones, but it is a fantasy but not quite what we’re used to. Usually in a fantasy the scenario is a save-the-world kind of thing and this was more like a mystery a very interesting mystery. The characters were all very compelling well described and the world was well built, it was a well-written book and the story flows along nicely. It does take a minute to become familiar with the different points of view. The story is written from the point of view of several of the characters, so it takes a bit to get used to that. Since the characters are so well described you very quickly catch on to who is speaking. Just a real good little story I can’t wait to read more of them. It’s not only a mystery it’s also a story about a dysfunctional family and forgiveness and overcoming, it’s a story makes you feel kind of good in the end.
