Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock – Review by Angela Hayes

Guardians of the Garden (Guardians of the Garden, #1)Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Guardians of the Garden is the first book in the Guardians of the Garden series by Theresa Pocock. This is an original YA fantasy with a clever storyline woven around fate, duty, responsibility, coming of age, family, love, magic, secrets, acceptance, being ‘different’, mystery, twists, drama, immortality, the threat of war, and an adventure. It is a wonderful mix of myth, folklore, fantasy, and some religious themes- taking us to Edenia, and the guardians of the Garden of Eden.
As soon as I read the blurb, I was taken by the original and fresh story- so I grabbed a copy and dived right in. This story doesn’t disappoint, although it was a little slow in the beginning while the foundations of the story were being laid, and while working through the many character introductions. But it wasn’t too long before the pace picked up and I was able to settle into the story comfortably.
Things are left open, and looks set to continue in book two- so I will definitely be on the look out for it to find out what happens.

Thank you, Theresa Pocock!
