Beautiful Torment by Gen Ryan – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beautiful TormentBeautiful Torment by Gen Ryan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gen Ryan is truly a wizard with words. Beautiful Torment is the third book in the Thin Red Lines series and it blew me away just as the other two did. This book is just like the others in that it is heartbreakingly beautiful. It is full of sadness and pain, heartbreak and sorrow and yet wonder and love. You get a glimpse into the minds of people who do terrible things and yet you can not stop reading because you have to know what is going to happen. The story evolves around three FBI agents who have each had more tragedy in their lives than anyone should have to see let alone live. These characters are trying to rebuild themselves and do their jobs at the same time. They are not only the best of friends they are family. Gen writes so well that you believe you are a part of their lives. They bleed, you bleed with them, they cry, you cry with. I can’t wait to read other books by Gen Ryan because I enjoy her style of writing.

Wild (Love in Lone Star #2) by Ashley Bostock – Review by Angela Shirley

Wild (Love in Lone Star #2)Wild by Ashley Bostock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wild : A Small Town Romance is the second book in the series and follows the story of Thatcher and Abby who’s history with each other is linked together but they have never been the right time until now to pursue the chemistry that shoots between them.

Abby is trying to overcome a divorce but a chance meeting in the store of her school boy crush is more than Abby can handle. This meeting with Thatcher brings all the old feelings to the surface but no-one knows that Abby’s son is actual Thatcher’s.

Thatcher has been thinking about the girl that got away and although he had his reasons for not sticking by Abbey when she got pregnant he still lusts after her, until a chance meeting in his store when he comes face to face with his son, Thayer. All of a sudden both worlds get turned upside down and Thatcher then has a chance to prove to Abby that he is the man for her.

This book was my favourite in this series, I loved the character of Thatcher in the first book when he was a secondary character and you just could tell there was a great story behind the man in the feed store. The softer side of this Alpha male was brilliant, even when they had a date night and he decided to read the book with a very famous tie was brilliant.

Also the character of Abby being so brave and strong with first the history of her and Thatcher, then having to admit that her marriage was over and she had to let Adrian go was heart wrenching but she overcomes it all to look after the sweet little boy, Thayer.

The writing style is fast pace and the way the two characters interact is beautiful, I can’t wait to read the next story in this series and am secretly hoping it will be Grace’s story with a certain biker as her love interest.

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Shannon Fowler

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2)The Flip by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Flip is a funny story that is not your typical romance story. The main characters, Andrew and Sonnet, went to school together starting in elementary school, but were hardly friends at all. Andrew teased Sonnet endlessly and when he wasn’t teasing her, he was ignoring her. Sonnet was only interested in learning, getting good grades and avoiding Andrew. They shared a common interest though growing up in Aunt Penny, Sonnet’s next door neighbor and Andrew’s great-aunt.
As you can tell from the blurb, these two inherit a house that needs a little fixing up.

This story made me laugh out loud and even snicker several times. Especially when Andrew discovers what Sonnet is reading on her Kindle.

“I close out of the book so I can see the title on the screen along with the rest of the books on her
virtual shelf. “Mountains Wanted?” I ask, eyebrows raised. “I bet there’s some metaphorical mountains involved,” I wink at her. “Fisher of Men? The Playground?”

Sonnet sounds like my type of reader friend!

Montgomery has a writing style that completely wraps me up and makes me forget everything around me. While this is book two in the Romance in Rehoboth series, it can be read as a standalone. I really loved reading this book and think you will too!

She Was Mine by Marie Skye – Review by Jenni Bishop

She Was MineShe Was Mine by Marie Skye
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW this is certainly an explosive end to the story of Emmalin and Grayson. Marie certainly has a way with words when she writes and there is so much emotion in the story telling. You will definitely need tissues to get you through this one. By the time I was finished I felt like I had been through an emotional wringer. Just like the other books about our characters, it was not all rainbows and stars, it takes you to some dark and twisted places that you are not sure you want to go but you just can’t say no and put the book down. Having said that, some of the issues that are faced in this book may not be for everyone.

Grayson and Emmalin have had many trials and tribulations, heartache and pain to overcome in the other books and they had more in this book that tore my heart out. I have felt every step of the way with these characters and had a lot invested in them. You know it is a good story when you feel so many emotions rush through you as you go on their journey with them. Even though there were a lot of hardships in this book there were also those times that made me smile. If you are a lover of this series, and even if you are not then you should read this book.

A Scottish Wedding (A Lost in Scotland #2) by Hilaria Alexander – Review by Angela Shirley

A Scottish Wedding (A Lost in Scotland #2)A Scottish Wedding by Hilaria Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Scottish Wedding is the next instalment in the love story regarding Sam and Hugh, the book picks up from when Hugh has proposed to Sam in the cottage he has brought for them and will they have a happily ever after in glorious Scotland. I believe you would enjoy this book as a standalone story but you will be checking book one out to see how these two lovable characters started this journey.

I love the way the author creates the story and twists in the secondary characters which made reading this book a pleasure. I love the character of CeCe and she does not disappoint with her antics in this story and the shock announcement makes you love her even more.

I like the way the author draws you into Scotland and that you feel that this beautiful country is a big part of the character of the book, this back drop makes a perfect frame to a beautiful love story. I think the writing in this novel was fast pace and a page turner which will have you OMG at the end.

I can’t wait to read the next book hoping we get to read Amira’s story or Declan’s story next. I would recommend this my friends to read as a good holiday book.

Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines, #1) by Gen Ryan – Review by Jana Teppih

Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines, #1)Beautiful Masterpiece by Gen Ryan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beautiful Masterpiece by Gen Ryan is the first book in her Thin Red Line series and she absolutely crushed me! It is hard to find words to describe what I felt when reading this book. The writer has created a story that is dark and twisted and at the same time, she has thrown in some romance …
It is a story of Maddie and Scott and Liam in the Chaos created by a monster … Scott is the tough boy next door who kicks ass and plays by the book and who saved Maddie when she was a kid … Liam, the beautiful broken Liam … until the end, I hoped that there was a way for him to be saved …
My word, the writer has a mind I do not even want to delve into, she sucks you in, she gives you every characters thoughts when she writes from their point of view … she drags you along on a rollercoaster, you scream and you cry and you simply cannot put the book down until you are in the end, until you know, for sure, whether evil laughs in victory or whether the humanity still has a chance … The darkness that lives within us all, the evil that surrounds us … the innocence that is robbed … the sacrifice that is willingly given to protect … I cannot wait to read the next masterpiece!

Closed Set by Julia Harlow

4 out of 4 stars
This is the second book that I have read by Ms. Harlow and while I loved the first book that I have read by her this book kind of fell short with the way the story seemed to jump around a little too much and I didn’t think it was realistic in some aspects. But the story line was well thought out.
Cassandra Carlson is a professional dancer, working on her five-year plan. She moved to Los Angeles to work at her best friend’s Hollywood dance studio. She decides she can put up with the glitterati for the time being until she saves enough to open her own studio back home in Cincinnati.
Christopher Edwards, a soon-to-be A-list British actor, comes to her for dance lessons for his new film, the attraction is instantaneous and intense. They are both young, available and strikingly beautiful, but while she finds Hollywood garish and superficial, he’s on the brink of realizing his life’s ambition with no inclination for a serious relationship.
Just when they can’t deny the attraction for each other, a jealous actress targets Cassandra in an insidious scheme, and a powerful studio head poses a formidable threat to them both.
Cassandra puts herself in harms-way in order to protect Christopher, but will she lose him in the process?
Are they too young for a relationship? Can they over-come the obstacles in Hollywood? Will they get a happily ever after? Can they move forward when their paths are supposed to go separate ways?
You will have read this story to find out the answers to my questions…

Better Together (Cedarville #4) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Jana Teppih

Better Together (Cedarville #4)Better Together by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Better Together by Bree Kraemer is the fourth book in her Cedarville Series. I had not read the first three when I read this one and I am sure, I would have gotten much more out of it had I read the first three … I felt that I missed knowing who the rest of the Cedarville gang was.
Better Together was a sweet and steamy story of Ryan Ball and Addison Scott. Ryan is a perfectly groomed tax lawyer outside and a clumsy sweet boy inside who has learnt to fake it and have it under control at any given moment. Addison is an extremely beautiful smart young woman who has led quite a solitary life as she has been shunned by other women who thought she might go after their boyfriends/men when she starts hanging out with them …
Ryan’s life changes overnight when his brother and his wife die and he gets the co-guardianship over his young nephew and he moves into this true American small town Cedarville, Ohio where he get this amazing support network of great group of people.
I loved how Bree has built that crazy inviting small town world with these lovable characters that make one wish to move there as well! I enjoyed the journey she took us on along with Addison and Ryan when they were figuring out the way to each other! I know I will definitely go back and read the first 3 books; actually, I already downloaded the first one!
Take a chance on Cedarville and this group of young people that show that there is hope for everyone!

Better Together (Cedarville #4) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Angela Shirley

Better Together (Cedarville #4)Better Together by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Better Together is the fourth book in the Cederville Series and revolves around Ryan and Addison, will Ryan turning his world upside down to live in Cedarville be a mistake or will he find the kick start to his life he has been looking for.

Ryan had his life turned upside down finding out his brother and his wife had had a car accident but the shocking thing is that they had a six year old son which now was an orphan and if Ryan did not rock up to the plate he would spend time in the foster care system.

So Ryan accepts to become the guardian but with his job in Baltimore he needs help adjusting to this new lifestyle, so Ryan decides to look up his brother’s ex-girlfriend but is not sure how this will go down as his brother cheater on her with her mother. As he expected she had no hard feelings towards the instant baby boy in the mix and agreed to help Ryan raise Reed.

There’s one thing Ryan has fell in love with Reed and Cedarville and ends up packing his job in, moving to the sleepy town but was this all become of Reed or is there a stunning brunette mixed in with this decision.

Addison is a smart and pretty, she has always been looked at for her beauty rather than her brains, her friends were always scared that their husbands would have an affair with her, until the moment Ryan Ball entered Cedarville her world spinned on it axis, there was an instant attraction which she could not explain. So once Ryan moved to the sleepy town they decide to act on the attraction the only thing is Ryan has never been good at dating.

I really loved these two characters and the interaction between them and was willing them to succeed in the relationship. I also was invested within the second characters also and enjoyed that they loved and cherished each relationship with in the family they created. This book can be read as a stand-alone but the other books in the series are just as good so I would recommend you read them also.

Dream Me by Kathryn Berla – Review by Angela Shirley

Dream MeDream Me by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dream me is a story about a girl called Babe who dreams at night of a boy called Zat, but each dream she has feels like they are becoming real.

Babe is a girl who is constantly the new girl, he father is a golf pro and travels around the country finding jobs in Country Clubs to support his family. Babe has never real seen the outside world other that through the eyes of the Country Clubs she has been a part of. She is a strong character and makes friends easily.

Zat is none is his world as a dreamer, instead of wanting to space travel like the majority of people on his planet, he has always been fascinated with the world of time travel. His Uncle with his family are all set to space travel but Zat is awaiting his date.

This story is written in quite a few per of the main characters which sometimes becomes a bit confusing. You will have a chapter where Babe is writing her blog, then you get a point of view of them together in the dream state, then you get Zat’s point of view. I really like the idea of the time traveller and him being attracted to Babe and her experiences but I thought it did not gel together very well. Although this was a distraction from the book I enjoyed the premise of the book and that the idea was intriguing which made me read on through the book.

FU CancerFU Cancer by Hilaria Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

FU Cancer by Hilaria Alexander is a wonderful story of strength and resilience that will break your heart one minute and have you laughing out loud the next. Hilaria has managed to write about a horrible disease and inject it with just the right amount of humour. This is a story about a sweet romance that happens along the way whilst dealing with one womans battle with cancer. It is beautifully written book.

Unfortunately it doesn’t matter if you are sick when you have two beautiful little boys to look after. I doesn’t matter that you are a single mum, cancer does not discriminate by age or sex. It does not care if you have a life, nope you just have to go on and face that sucker head on just like Lucy Porter, a young mother who has just been diagnosed with cancer finds herself doing. He wants to be there to help her through one of the lowest points in her life. Wants to help her through some of her toughest days. Wants to help her remember what it is to be a sexy woman.

FU Cancer shows us all the fears and struggles and the strength of one woman to fight and show cancer the front door. Sometimes you want to say FU Cancer but sometimes you want to say thank you Cancer. Read Lucy’s story and take the journey with her as she laughs and cries and finds love and life again.

Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1) by Annie Arcane – Review by Jenni Bishop

Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1)Hart Broken by Annie Arcane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hart Broken by Annie Arcane is a beautiful and emotional story. I read this book from start to finish in one go because I couldn’t put it down. Annie’s writing is creative and expressive and draws you in with these wonderful characters. She cleverly entwines the first person narrative with the third person narrative and with the angst and pain, the shyness and unsurety these characters feel makes for an explosive story.

The story revolves around Mickey Hart who is a wonderfully sweet yet damaged soul, which she hide well, who was not looking for love and Cale Windermere who is filled with self doubt but is one special man. After his accident he doesn’t see himself as a whole man. The characters have real struggles and flaws and things to overcome and you can feel their pain, their joys and their love but is love enough? Can they get over their issues to be with one another? Will they open up enough to let the other in? Is self preservation worth more than love?

I really enjoyed this read because of the characters that are beautifully written. I am a fan of Mickey and Cale and am waiting to read the next installment to the series and follow them on their wonderful journey, hopefully together. I also loved the teasing way and the love Cales family have for one another it brought more depth to the story. I encourage you to read the book and enjoy the heart touching emotional ride when you read this contemporary romance love story with a little twist.

Controlling Heritage (Control #5) by Anna Edwards – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Controlling Heritage (Control #5)Controlling Heritage by Anna Edwards
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Controlling Heritage (The Control Series Book 5) by Anna Edwards is the fifth book in her The Control series. This story can be read as a stand alone. This is the first book I have read in this series and I know that I will be going back to read the previous four books. One of my favorite things I love about this author is her writing style and her attention to details. I know that when I open one of her books that I am going on a journey that I will not want to put down. I know exactly what I am getting with her books and this one didn’t disappoint either. This story is full of hot, steamy romance and BDSM. This story has some suspense that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. You will fall in love with these characters as they pop off the page and right into your life. Find out what happens to these characters as they start a journey of romance and things they never expected to find.

Sophie North is a young woman who has had some emotional situations that haunt her in a way. She is the sister of James North who had been beaten because of his BDSM life style which you can gain some perspective on from websites similar to www.fuckedgay.xxx. This has left her scarred and now she hides her real self behind her career of personal assistant. What she really wants is for someone to own her. What will happen when she meets him?

Grayson Moore is a Native American movie star that has a slutty reputation. He likes his alcohol, fast cars and women who are just as fast. But is he now looking for something more? When he fires his PA, he hires her. He never expected to fall for her. Will he give up his ways for her?

Sophie and Grayson are so great together. They were attracted to each other from the second they set eyes on each other. I loved that she was speechless when she looked at him. They are both such strong characters that it was hard to pick a favorite character. He is just so controlling, handsome and so giving to her. She just wants to be controlled by him although she can be sassy when she wants to be. The suspense these characters bring to this story is mind blowing and you won’t want to miss it. The secondary characters are just as great and really do make the story complete. They are supportive towards Sophie and Grayson. This story is really about being true to yourself and accepting who you are. I found is awesome that Sophie grows so much in this story and just plain learns to accept things for what they are. You will have to read this story to see what I am talking about.

This is my third story by Anna Edwards and I totally am in love with her books and her characters. Her story is engaging and will keep you reading until the last word. I totally lost track of time in this story and couldn’t put it down. You will love how it is fast paced. I would have a glass of ice water sitting next to you because you will need it with this couple. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happen when a movie star and his PA get together!

Warranted Pleasures (Warranted #1)Warranted Pleasures by Shannon Nemechek
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Warranted Pleasures is the story of two people who are instantly attracted to each other at first site but can the rules of their job keep them apart or is the love they have for each other strong enough to break the rules they have sworn to up hold.

Raleigh has seen the devastation war can create as a serving officer he has been in hell, but now his job is State side and less danger until one job threatens to take away the one thing he loves more than anything.

Sam has just taken over the role as new supply sergeant but has a hard time as she has missing supplies, the general has requested the service of Chief Warrant officer Raleigh Fitzgerald. She has been requested to help him in the investigation but first she needs to collect him from the airport. As she is awaiting his flight she sees the man in all his hunky glory and has an instant attraction to him. He is all southern gentleman and seems like a real ladies man but although he seems like this character you learn throughout the story in the end he only has eyes for Sam and this is sometime new to him he feels he has finally found love.

Raleigh has been ordered to investigate the theft of military stock and as he arrives and meet his liaison he is floored how beautiful she is but there in one problem there are rules that they cannot start anything or they will both be in trouble. But as the investigation goes on the attraction between the two is on fire and can the feeling that they both feel be enough to defy the rules. But as they investigate some shocking truths come out which shatter Raleigh’s world apart and who he thought he could trust his brother in arms becomes the enemy he and his fellow men are trying to stop.

This is the first book I have read by this author and really enjoyed the thrilling twist and turn of the story. The sizzling attraction between these two people, also factor in the rules they have to enforce by the military it was a great story. There is hard truths that Raleigh and Sam uncover regarding his past and I love the way that they have the same spunk in them to bring the case to a close. I can’t wait to read the next instalment in this series.

The Alpha’s Pride by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Alpha's PrideThe Alpha’s Pride by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Alpha’s Pride is the first book in the Blood Bonded series by Deidre Huesmann. It is a very, very quick read but it kept me interested. I certainly would have liked to read more about these characters and would have liked it to be a full book story rather than the short one it is. It was well written and straight to the point.

Val finds herself at the mercy of a shifter but what will she choose? She soon finds herself in a game of life and death with a shifter who likes to play games. Will he stalk her and let her go if she wins or will she lose and face the consequences? Death!

Riker is enjoying his game, he loves the hunt, the thrill of chasing his prey. Will he let her live or will he kill her? What he does know is that she is different than any of the others he has faced, she is a fighter. Perhaps he will not kill her, perhaps she could end up more than he ever thought possible. Could she be what he has longed for?

If you are looking for a quick read and a taste of shifters then this is a book for you.

Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1) by Annie Arcane – Review by Angela Shirley

Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1)Hart Broken by Annie Arcane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hart Broken: A wounded hero Romance by Annie Arcane is a love story following the relationship of Cale and Mickey, showing the ups and downs of their love story.

Mickey is a strong independent woman but she finds herself waking up one day in a strange room, a strange bed and finding a rather handsome stranger the scary thing is she does not remember how she got there. As she slowly gets to know this man and she trusts he is not a serial killer, she is unprepared how to deal with the instant chemistry between the two of them. But will her past be too much for her to get over and deal with this alpha male.

Cale has always been a man of honour but there is one thing which is holding him back, he had an injury which has left him paralysed from the waist down. He has his demons from his past which also will impact on his future but from the first time he spotted Mickey he knew he had to have her as his own.

As the story continues you get to understand that these two characters have been hurt in the past and are reluctant to give their hearts over to be broken again, but as they get to know each other on a deeper level they are prepared to put their heart on the line. I loved the vulnerability of the characters although they have strong opinions to show this vulnerable side is refreshing.

This is the first book I have read by Annie Arcane and I enjoyed the style and fast pace of the story, I am looking forward to reading more books in this series and by this author.

The Alpha’s Pride by Deidre Huesmann
5 out of 5 stars
This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Huesmann it was a short cute story that contains shifters and I love reading about shifters/paranormal.

This is a story where humans and shifters live in fringe societies, Val is taking a risk camping in the woods on shifter territory. Her overconfidence lands her in a game of life and death. This shifter is out for amusement, and doesn’t care if she wants to play. The game is set, and she must participate. He offers her a deal: if she wounds him, she wins. If he catches her, she dies.
Riker has every intention of killing her. Or did, before her scent hinted she is a potential blood bonded. Intrigued by the possibility, he pursues her in a hunt that will change their lives… and forever alter shifter and human societies.
Will Riker’s pride accept Val as his blood bonded or will they kill her? Can they overcome their shifter/human differences? Will their blood bond change the world between the shifters and humans?
You really need to read this short story in order to find out the answers to my questions. I highly recommend this short story and can’t wait to see what the author has in-stored for us next in this series…

Lukas (This is Our Life Series #4) by F.G. Adams – Review by Sheri Schrader

Lukas (This is Our Life Series #4)Lukas by F.G. Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lukas by F.G. Adams is the fourth and final book in the This is Our Life series. This can be read as a standalone book and enjoyed. I have read the other books in the series and have enjoyed watching the characters featured in their own stories but also as well as background characters in the other stories. This book follows the story of Lukas Rogers and Sage Blackwood. The two met many years ago, when Sage was in the Peace Corps and Lukas was serving in the military. The two lose touch after his unit is ambushed but later come across each other while he is working for Trident Security. He has always felt a connection to Sage not counting the sexual tension between the two of them. Sage does not want to have to rely on anyone and does not want to face her feelings for Lukas. She wants to believe that he is only good as a friend with benefits.
I enjoyed this book as much as the others in the series. Each has focused on a different couple that must conquer their personal demons as well as something that is occurring in their lives. In this book, we see Sage’s background coming back to haunt her. Her time in Dubai with the Peace Corps is brought back into her life with some threats that are coming through. Lukas wants to be hers in every sense of the world. He will do anything to protect the woman he loves. Even though this series is completed I will be look for more from F.G. Adams to read in the future.

Frozen Over (The Melted Series Book 1) by Tarrah Anders – Review by Sheri Schrader

Frozen OverFrozen Over by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Frozen Over by Tarrah Anders is the first book in the Melted Series. The book is about Tyson Maddox and Allison Stafford. Tyson is the heir to and CEO of Mad Designs, a fashion company. Allison is the new face of the summer campaign for Mad Designs. Tyson is a playboy until he meets the irresistible and beautiful Allison. His intentions to fall in love is “when hell is frozen over”. She is not your typical model. She eats donuts and is taken by surprise when Tyson starts to pursue her. The two are a fun and interesting pair. But will their pasts catch up to them?
This was more than a model/tycoon story. The characters are well written and interesting. What was great was that there was a lot of emotion involved in the story. The backgrounds of both Tyson and Allison made for interesting challenges and tension. I was on the edge of my seat hoping for them to find peace and love with each other. The realistic part was that life is never easy and we always have challenges. The best part comes once we conquer our pasts and move on either alone or with someone who truly cares for all parts of us.
I enjoy books that have a good character and story to match. We all need a little escape from the everyday world and this book was a great escape. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and will be looking for more from Tarrah Anders in the future.

Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines, #1) by Gen Ryan – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines, #1)Beautiful Masterpiece by Gen Ryan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beautiful Masterpiece is the first book in the Thin Red Lines series by Gen Ryan. The story is very deep and dark, twisted and disturbing, terrifying and truly intense. Gen Ryan gives you a look into the twisted minds and souls of those who have been lost to the darkness. It is a psychological thriller that captures you and you can’t let go, much like a horror that you watch behind you fingers but can’t turn it off. Gen writes in different points of view which helps you find the deeper meaning behind each character, it definitely helps the story flow and melds it together nicely.

Maddison is a haunted young woman who had a horrific childhood that she is trying to run away from and lead a normal. But what is normal? Normal is not the serial killer father who killed her mother and got caught just shy of murdering her too. Normal is not looking over your shoulder and experiencing fear from a man who has escaped jail and is now playing with her.

Liam is a haunted young man who had a horrible childhood that he is trying to run away from and lead a normal life. But what is normal? Normal is not the dark thoughts he has. Normal is not acting on those dark thoughts and the voices he can’t keep at bay. His past haunts him but he has just found the one thing that may save him.

Scott is a knight in shining armour, he has not stopped thinking about the little girl who lived next door, the little girl he saved from certain death. Now he is face to face with the past and his job is to protect her at all costs, even if it is from herself.

My emotions were all over the place as I read this story and you find yourself getting attached with these characters. I enjoyed the whole thrill of the chase game throughout the story. There is a lot of dark and terrible things happen in this book that could be triggers for some people so tread carefully but if you like something dark and twisted then this is the book is for you.

Although Poppy does not reciprocate them, but he will not take no for an answer so Poppy has to get a little economical with the truth and say that she has a boyfriend who is a plumber. This is then made more real as she has called a plumber to try and recuse her “toys” from the dishwasher. Now if you’ve lost your “toys” in the dishwasher, let’s not pretend it hasn’t happened, you might want to view service areas of nearby plumbers and see if they can help you – although I’m afraid it’ll just be with retrieval we can’t guarantee other “services”.

Holden is trying to keep the family plumbing business going, his father is a drunk and has nearly bankrupt the business but Holden is trying to hold on. So when he receives a phone call from Poppy he is not too happy that it’s another rich girl demanding his time. Holden can’t help but try to help Poppy especially when he finds her uncomfortable regarding her step brother’s advances. So he agrees to play along with Poppy and become her pretend boyfriend.

This story flows and is a quick pace read, this is the second book I have read by Haley and she never disappoints. The BDSM theme running through the story is a great page turner and the relationship which flames between the two of them is great, you are willing and cheering these two characters along. I recommend this short read as a summer holiday book and you will be downloading the other books Haley has written.

Life’s Gateway to Happiness (Show Me, #2) by Anne Stone – Review by Jenni Bishop

Life's Gateway to Happiness (Show Me, #2)Life’s Gateway to Happiness by Anne Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Life’s Gateway to Happiness is the second book in the Show Me Series by Anne Stone. This book continues with the Alvarez and Samuels families. I would read the first book of the series, Life’s Second Chances first as you will get a fuller picture of the world these characters live in. The story will grab you from the beginning and you will find yourself feeling so many emotions when you read it. It is well written with loads of drama that will keep you guessing until the very end. The plot is not revealed all at once but is fed to you bit by bit to keep you hooked. Anne’s characters are loveable and easy to relate to. The are a family that is so genuine that you soon find yourself wanting to get involved in their lives.

Kelly Samuels loves her job as a tester for a software company but her dreams have just come crashing down. She needs to get out of there, she needs to be safe and the only place she can do that is with family. Kelly is home but has not revealed everything that has happened to her family, she is not the girl they have all known and loved. She feels like a failure and does not want to face all that has happened to her. Her family know there is something going on but find themselves running into roadblocks every time they confront her. What has Kelly running scared? Will she reveal the truth behind all that has happened? Will she trust enough to let others help her? Will she ever be whole again?   Alec Alvarez is a confirmed bachelor, he is happy with his busy life as a doctor and loves his family something fierce but there is more to this beautiful woman and something about her that calls out to his protective nature. Alec can see there is much, much more to the story than is being told but he doesn’t want to push. He wants to be there and help her through whatever has her running, whatever has her scared. Whatever the secret she is hiding it is eating her up from the inside out and he feels helpless. When they finally learn the truth will it be too late to save her? Will hearts be broken before they really begin? Will he be the one to save her?   All in all though this is a sweet romance and the men are the sort you only dream about and want to take home to mum. It is sad to see such a strong beautiful woman become a shell of herself but come through it with the love of her family and her sexy, strong and supporting man.

Inevitably Yours (Imagine Ink, #4) by Verlene Landon – Review by Angela Shirley

Inevitably Yours (Imagine Ink, #4)Inevitably Yours by Verlene Landon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Inevitably yours is a story of Augusta and John, will their friendship develop into more or will the fact Augusta is pregnant with another man’s child will this stop John from pursuing her.

Augusta is a woman with a heart of gold, so when she offers to become a surrogate for her friends who were finding it hard to find someone will this decision threaten her relationship with her best friend. So as the pregnancy goes on she becomes more agitated that she has to give up her beloved coffee and that she is now unable to see her feet.

John has always had feelings for his best friend Gus, now that she pregnant it brings back memories for John who has tried to bury his past. He has carefully built up walls around his heart but will his attraction win out.

As the story goes through you get to meet the rest of the characters in the story who you feel the emotion that they are all a family and are loyal to each other. Augusta is a great character and I would her to be in my corner, she is so kind hearted and is not at all privileged. John is the alpha but get to see his softer side when it comes to Augusta and the attraction he has for her, although he is not bothered with the age gap but his history may be the blocker.

I enjoyed the story of these two people and I loved the family feel of the book. This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved the story telling and the characters are rich and full of life. I would recommend this book to others and although it’s the fourth book in a series I read this book as a stand-alone.

Summer Solstice (Legend Series Book #4) by McKayla Schutt – Review by Angela Shirley

Summer Solstice (Legend Series Book #4)Summer Solstice by McKayla Schutt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summer Solstice is a story of Carmen a witch who needs to get away and Aiden is shocked when he becomes bonded to the woman he is supposed to protect.

Carmen is looking for a reason to leave her current coven so when an opportunity comes to supervise a new coven on the south she jumps at the chance to leave. So as she gets involved in the new coven she tries to convince them that she should be become a permanent of the new coven.

Aiden is a free spirited wolf, until one day he runs into a woman who he imprints on, the only thing she is a witch and he needs to bond with this woman soon or he loses his power to become a wolf. Although Aiden tries to convince Carman that this is fate she is still not happy this has happened to her. Carmen is against bonding with the wolf and especially when she is within a new coven, so she tries to push Aiden away.

As the story continues the story becomes steamy and the sexual scenes are quite hot and had to cool down my e-reader. You get to see the interaction between these two characters and when Carmen is kidnapped, will Aiden be able to recuse her.

This is the first book I have read from this author and enjoyed it greatly. I loved the way the two characters interacted and that the story had its twists and turns, I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future.

Lukas (This is Our Life Series #4) by F.G. Adams – Review by Jenni Bishop

Lukas (This is Our Life Series #4)Lukas by F.G. Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lukas is the fourth book in the This is Our Life series by FG Adams and it is just as good as the others. It can be read as stand alone but I encourage you to read them in order to feel the relationships of these wonderful Alpha military men, who will set your heart pumping, with their loyalty and love for their family. FG writes a great tale and this story, just the same as the others has twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat but you will be swept away with want for these wonderful characters of the Trident Security and you will be just as affected by Grandma Matilda. With her in your corner, the sky’s the limits.

Lukas Rogers has left the military life but is down and out on his luck, he is a broken man with nowhere to go but further down, or so he thinks. Masking his feelings has become his game but all he needs is one person and that person likes to run and hide. It’s time to get his head in the game, sort himself out and get the woman to come to her senses. Lukas is a member of Trident Security where he works with his brothers at arms, his family and they will let nothing come between them and the ones they love.

Sage Blackwood is a sassy, independent and one stubborn woman. She was in Afghanistan but had to return home where she thought she was safe but little by little something or someone is out to cause her pain. Why? she doesn’t know. Who? She doesn’t know. Will she survive the threats? Will she break down her walls and let help in? Will she break down her walls and let love in? With being face to face with danger will she learns just what is important?

Do yourselves a favour and grab a copy of this series. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The Point by Lori Thomas Harrington – Review by Jenni Bishop

The PointThe Point by Lori Thomas Harrington
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Point by Lori Thomas Harrington is a contemporary romance and one heartfelt and beautiful story that had me hooked from the beginning. It will have you laughing and crying throughout and the ending, WOW, I sobbed my heart out. Tissues are a must. The story is well written and flows easily.

Emma Ashby has just come home after being away for years and trying to put the past behind her. She has a great job which she loves but can she leave it behind to have what she finds when she returns home. Could it be enough, to see childhood wishes and dreams brought to life? She knows she has to face her past but is she really ready for it? Can she face the one person who destroyed her happiness all those years ago? Is she really that strong?

Drew Dalton knows she is coming to town but is he prepared to see her? He has moved on with his life, hasn’t he? He loves someone else, doesn’t he? The emotions he feels seeing the one person who destroyed his life are running high. They were the best of friends, lovers, but because of lies and betrayal they were ripped away from each other. But now he needs her help more than ever but will she help or run?

Someone who was supposed to love them. Someone who was supposed to have their backs. Someone who ripped them apart not once but twice. The love these two share is a love of a lifetime, a true soul bonding. they are soul mates. After years apart they come together as one. Can hearts be mended or is it too late? Will the truth be revealed in time to save? Can forgiveness be reached after such tragedy?

Lori Thomas Harrington is a talented writer. It is one emotional ride and well worth the time to read.

The Caretaker (The Sin Bin, #2) by Dahlia Donovan – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Caretaker (The Sin Bin, #2)The Caretaker by Dahlia Donovan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Caretaker is the second book in The Sin Bin series by Dahlia Donovan. It can be read as a standalone but is best read in order so you can enjoy the building of the previous characters. It is just as good as the Wanderer and is another sweet romance story. I enjoy Dahlia’s writing, she breathes life into her characters that has you feeling like one of the gang.

This wonderful story is about Freddie Whittle and Taine Afoa. Both come from completely different backgrounds, Freddie, has a heart of gold and is a nurse working with cancer patients but losing them can be heart breaking and wearing on the soul, but he loves it. His busy life doesn’t leave much room for a relationship but when he meets a tall dark and handsome he starts to wonder what could be. Is he ready for a relationship? Could this man be interested in him?

Taine Afoa is a retired rugby player and not looking for love. He enjoys relationships but enjoys his time by himself but when he meets a caring, cute young man he interest is peaked. He finds himself thinking about the young man but is he too old and is he ready for a relationship? Can Taine get over the age difference? Is he ready to settle down?

This book captured my heart as did the first book. It is a beautiful story of love and acceptance. There are moments of sadness and joy and the characters will have you laughing with their comradery and their antics.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Portal Prophecies: A Keeper’s Destiny by C. A. King

A portal, a prophecy, and a love story makes up this YA book. The pages keep turning as you are figuring out the adventure that lies before you. C. A. King keeps your attention because just when you think you figure out what is going there is a twist and a turn.

If you like Harry Potter, then you will love Willow. She is a young lady who has been in the dark about the outside world. She is coming of age and now she is realizing that there are magical powers all around her. She is part of something bigger and she is just now learning that the stories she has been hearing are real. She is learning about the voices she hears in her head and why she needed to keep them a secret. She has bigger things coming and she will accomplish them all with the help of her friends.

C. A. King is an amazing author. She keeps you hooked. The characters are always evolving. She has you fall in love with Willow. C. A. really gets you involved with the characters. It is hard to put the story down. I can’t wait to see how Willow evolves in the series

The Possibility of Perfect (A Stand By Me Novel, #4) by Brinda Berry – Review by Angela Shirley

The Possibility of Perfect (A Stand By Me Novel, #4)The Possibility of Perfect by Brinda Berry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Possibility of Perfect is the friends to lover story involving Dane and Josie best friends for so long that one night may change the dynamic of the friendship forever.

Dane, Josie and her twin brother Leo have been friends since they were young but as the friendship between Dane and Josie grew into best friends Dane has always since his teenage years had a crush on her. Until in their adult life they indulge in one night of passion but will the friendship survive.

Josie has always had a thing for Dane even as teenagers she has wanted to be more than friends. Until one night when they were just having a movie night the lust over took both of them and she has one night of passion which rocks her world. Although the weeks after the act there friendship becomes awkward and comes to a point at a friend’s wedding. Dane corners her at the wedding and wants to talk through the awkwardness but unfortunately Dane makes things worst by suggesting options other than the one Josie is really looking for which a relationship with this sexy man.

Josie starts to feel nauseous and is discussing this with her brothers girlfriend Harper who suggests she may need to take a test, when Josie givens in a takes the test her world is thrown into turmoil. So Josie tries to escape to the family cabin to get her feels in check but Dane followers her their where she tells him the news.

The story goes through the ups and downs of the relationship between these characters, I love the vulnerability for Dane’s character and the added factor of his family history and somehow this being the reason why he did not want children and also the fact that if he starts relations with his best friend will they be able to sustain the relationship with the added pressures of a family. I have not read the other three books in this series and I followed the story in this book as a stand-alone. As this is the first book I have read by this author I will definitely read the others in this series.
