The Shape of Trust (a Stand By Me novel Book 5) by Brinda Berry is wonderfully sweet story. Brinda has done a great job of writing wonderful characters that take a hold on your heart. Her writing style is captivating and makes it one book you are unable to put down. It is a wonderful romance story that you can’t get enough of.

Lily is such a quirky character she will have you going through an array of emotions as we wade through her no so good life. That is until she meets someone who steals her heart but does he even notice her in that way? She is caring and most compassionate person, always looking out for others, but who looks out for her?

Best Foot Forward (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book 1) by Bea Stevens – Review by Jenni Bishop

Best Foot ForwardBest Foot Forward by Bea Stevens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Best Foot Forward (The Liberty Lawrence Series Book 1) Bea Stevens is a crazy and fun loving read that will have you laughing out loud at the utterly charming and a little crazy thinking Libby. The thoughts that go through her mind are wonderfully out there and kept me totally entertained and fully engrossed the whole way through. I have read the second book in the series, which totally enchanted me, so it was great to see where it began and I was glad to find that it is equally as delightful.

Libby is a klutz, wherever she goes mayhem follows. She is a lover of all things fashion and is an expert when it comes to shoes. When there is a theft at the hotel she works at, somehow she manages to be in the right place at the wrong time. Libby uses her detective skills to form her own idea on who the thief is, but is it right? Her highly entertaining shenanigans will delight you as she delves into things others prefer she wouldn’t.

Bea has a hit on her hands with this series and I can’t wait to read more on Miss Liberty Lawrence and her craziness.

Perilous Confessions (The Possession Chronicles Book 1)Perilous Confessions by Carrie Dalby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Perilous Confessions (The Possession Chronicles Book 1) by Carrie Dalby is well written and is a historical romance. It is a story where women are still chaperoned anything to do with romance is considered scandalous. The main characters relationship is complex and laden with improprieties. It is a love so strong that it will destroy souls but the actions of the men in this story leave me wanting to smack each and every one of them. I am not a fan of historical romances but this one was ok.

Lucy has found the love of her life and for love there are a lot of things she is willing to leave in the past but ultimately it is that past that will make her rethink what she needs and wants.

Alex has been raised to be a certain way but he found the love of his life and treasures her for eternity but certain vices that keep coming back to haunt him will be his undoing. For all Alex’s faults he had me hoping against hope that he would get his HEA.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caught in Cross Seas (The Caught Series book 1) by Sharleen Scott is well written and wonderfully developed characters that you become fully invested in. There is a lot happening in this book and the multi faceted plots are carefully woven to bring this story together and to make it engrossing and intriguing and one that draws you in. The mystery and drama, subtle clues and manipulation, suspense and action doesn’t leave us wanting. The easy flow of the story keeps you hooked. The emotions the story evoke run rampant as you try to piece it all together.

Harlie is the sweetest woman in town. Everybody loves her and she would give you anything just to make sure you are ok.

Clay has followed the clues and finds himself in yet another town looking for a ghost. What he finds is more than he can cope with. What he finds is lies and deceit. What he finds is more than he thought he needed. But what he needs is something he left behind. I really enjoyed this story and can not wait to read book 2.

Stone Sober: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 3) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Jenni Bishop

Stone Sober (Hawke Family #3)Stone Sober by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stone Sober: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 3) Gwyn McNamee was not what I expected, it was better. Gwyn is a great story teller and this is one of my favourite series. I have loved the other two books in the series but this is my favourite so far, they just keep getting better and better, if that is even a possibility. Gwyn weaves lots of twists and turns that will have your heart pumping and emotions running all over the place. There are laughter and tears, sorrow and doubt, confusion and heartache, love and heartbreak and that is just naming a few. It is a little dark as well and that just adds to the excitement, drama and thrills.

Stone is the baby of the family and has just returned home but he is not so sure that is a good thing. He has a secret that only one other person knows, a secret that has led him down the wrong path, a secret that he uses vices to try to escape from. Now he has found a new vice and knows he needs to stay away or ruin a beautiful thing.

Nora is smart and sexy and turned away from a brilliant career to strip but no one knows her reasons and no one understands but it is the perfect job, it is freeing and that is just what she needs for now. But when she finally finds out who hides in the corner, in the shadows her life will forever be changed.

Trust me this is an amazing story and you will not want to put it down. It is hot and dark and forbidden and oh so good.

Tortured Skye (Hawke Family, #2)Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tortured Skye (Hawke Family Novels) is the second book in the series by Gwyn McNamee and is an erotic contemporary romance that will set you on fire. I love anything Gwyn writes and the Hawke Family series is fast becoming one of my favourites. The emotions that Gwyn instills in her stories has the ability to grab you from the very first page and keeps you titillated right until the very last word.

Skye Hawke has lost one half of herself and is still trying to comes to terms with it by hiding her pain behind her stubborn and hot headedness and down right rudeness. She also has a secret, a secret she has had since she was sixteen years old.

Gabe Anderson doesn’t do commitment, but now that he has noticed his best friends little sister is no longer little, he has more to lose which ever way he turns. Love the woman and lose the best friend or keep the best friend and lose the woman.

Gwyn McNamee is a must on everyone’s to READ list. I can’t wait to demolish her next book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Building Storm: (A Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Book 4) Gwyn McNamee just blew me out of the water. I thought Stone was my favourite and now Building Storm has surpassed my expectations. Gwyn is an amazing writer and and I always know I am in safe hands when I read one of her books. This story I devoured in one sitting, even though I had to get up for work the next day I absolutely could not set it aside. I was so wrapped up in the story time was gone before I even came up for air. Gwyn knows just the right ingredients to weave together to give you an experience you will not forget. Your heart will be pumping and jumping out of your chest and your emotions running all over the place. I felt as though I was the one in the story as I felt it all. I laughed, I cried and sobbed, my sorrow and love was real, my heart broke and at times I could not breathe. It is as beautiful as it is dark, it is as wonderful as it is sad and it is raw and powerful. The complexity of the characters and their lives and the plot is a work of art.

There will be no spoilers on this review as the story speaks for itself. There are a multiple of other books I can see from some of the other characters in this series and I really, really can not wait to see where Gwyn may take us.

This is the most amazing story that no one should miss. It is brilliant.

Full Glasses and Burju ShoesFull Glasses and Burju Shoes by Blake Blessing
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Full Glasses and Burju Shoes by Blake Blessing is a romance like no other. This is only the second book I have read by Blake but it is one that I really, really enjoyed. The story is engaging and enthralling and is so full of emotions that it really stirred me up and made my heartache. Having gone through PTSD I felt everything Emil and his war buddies were going through. There is a lot of turmoil that put me on edge and had my heart racing and I could not put it down. I read it all in one sitting. The characters are so raw and real and hurting and loving and scared. There was no way I could put it aside, I had to know now what was happening and felt like I needed to be there for the characters and I wanted to wrap them up in big hugs.

Emil has recently returned from being deployed overseas and is desperate to have a normal life but what is normal when you come home from war.

Perrin has known loss but she has never had to deal with anything like the god-like man who has gotten her offside from the get go.

OMG, there were many tears and some laughter but the lows felt like they kept on coming and it was one twist after the other. Blake has really impressed me with this story. I can not recommend this book enough!

A Christmas Wish (A Manhattan Dream) by Engy Neville – Review by Jenni Bishop

A Christmas WishA Christmas Wish by Engy Neville
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A Christmas Wish (A Manhattan Dream) by Engy Neville is the second book in the series and is an interesting read. It is a Christmas romance story that had all the right ingredients but I felt like there could be more. The story is sweet and entertaining but I struggled with Amy. At first I liked her but as the story went on, I thought she was a bit too self involved and I felt really frustrated with her, but she seemed to redeem herself towards the end. Likewise with the relationship between Amy and Richie, at times it didn’t seem like there was a true connection between them and I felt the romance was often missing.  Overall I get where the author was going but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me,  some things were overstated and others understated. I did however like the ending when a nemesis becomes a friend and love does find a way.

Tapped (The Night Moves Series) by Tarrah Anders is the third book in the series and is just as fabulous as the first two. I get excited when I see Tarrah’s name, it means I have another book that I know I will love. She is great at what she does, and that is writing contemporary romance stories and characters that you fall in love with. Not only are the stories sexy, smoking hot and sizzling between the sheets. They are also fun and sweet and have me laughing out loud at the banter and wit.

Janae loves her friends, her job, but when an unexpected face turns up in her happy place, she gets the shock of her life.

Kai just wants a place to call home. So when he turns up to start his new job, he comes face to face with the one that got away.

Brett is a gentleman who is sweet and adorable and every woman’s dream. Liv is a bad arse and far from shy, she loves what she does and those she is loyal to. Together they are hilarious and so so sexy mexy and hot, hot, hot, if only they can get on the same page.

Written in the Stars (Fallen Eagles MC Book 2) by T. Birmingham is a second chance romance story about a MC that is made up of veterans. It is the second book in the series and I advise that you read the first book Terrible Beauty so you get a better understanding of the characters and their world. This book is focused on the President of the MC and his second chance at love but there is also something much darker and sinister going on in the small town that sees time running out for them before things get much worse. There is so much going on and a lot of players that you are never bored.

Alive (Sundown Series Book 3)Alive by Courtney Konstantin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alive (Sundown Series Book 3) by Courtney Konstantin is a thrilling sci fi, post apocalyptic, suspense story that had me on the edge of my seat, all the way through. I am not normally a zombie lover, but this story is unique and different in it’s telling and the plot and whilst it has walking dead, it’s focus is on how it came about and the people and their fight for survival.

This tale is definitely intense and will have your heart pumping and your fight or flight instincts kicking in and I had to remind myself to breathe, as I traversed my way around the action and danger, drama and twists and turns. Courtney’s story is an original twist and is so engrossing. Her vivid writing style, is so descriptive that it truly feels like you are the one fighting and trying to survive. I had to read it all in one go, I had to keep turning the pages because I had to know, I needed to know, I had to witness it first hand. Trust me when I say you will continue to think about it long after you have turned the last page and long after darkness has set, when you are looking in the shadows.

Rafe and Charlie have gone from normal to chaos and fighting to survive, but it’s not just the walking dead they have to worry about. Will they be able to survive the true evil that is after them?

I have not read anything by Courtney before, now I have to go back and read the first two books and scout around to see what else she has written because her word smithing is superb. This is definitely my favourite read so far for the new year.

If you love a thrilling, gory tale that is gruesome, is disturbing, is disgusting and intensely gripping, then this is one that should be on your reading list.

I loved the easy relationship and banter  between the main characters who I loved loved loved. They both have well imagined  backgrounds and strengths and vulnerabilities as well. It is a bit of an emotional read  as it hits on a tough subject but Susannah handled it well.     Alice is caring and smart and a beautiful soul and on her way to a Ph.D but that doesn’t  pay the bills, yet.     Griffin is on his way to stardom and offers Alice an answer to her problem. Trust is  hard for her but she says yes and that is when things change between the two but he  holds all the power to take it all away. That was when I wanted to smack him.    Don’t miss out on this sweet romance story.

The Debt Collector: An Underground Bad Boys Romance by India Kells – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Debt Collector (An Underground Bad Boys Romance)The Debt Collector by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Debt Collector is An Underground Bad Boy Romance by India Kells is such an unexpected surprise story, it was awesome. I really like reading India’s stories, they are wonderfully written and this one is no different. There is lots of drama and danger, heartache and intrigue, suspense and pain, demons to be slain and pleasure and romance and boy oh boy does it sizzle. So much so that a cold shower will be on the agenda. I was so devoted to India’s written word that the world flew by as I became a part of the story and walked hand in hand with them. I devoured page after page and before I knew it, it was over and a couple of hours were behind me. These beautiful and complex characters are hopelessly flawed and and made my heart ache and felt their pain down to my soul.

I can’t wait to see what India comes up with for the rest of the series!

Finding Juniper (Smoke Series Book 3) by Sadia Ash – Review by Jenni Bishop

Finding JuniperFinding Juniper by Sadia Ash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finding Juniper is an amazing addition to the Smoke series by Sadia Ash and is the final installment of Juniper and Kyle’s love story. It is wonderfully written and is told in dual POV. I enjoyed the first book and this one is so much more. Sadia’s writing style was even better for this book.

Kyle is wonderfully flawed and complex and at times I wanted to strangle him. Likewise with Juniper, she forced so much heartache and sorrow that I just wanted to shake some sense into her but this tale of their love story is just epic. So much so I found myself thinking I could just skip to the end to know the outcome. But I didn’t I poured over every word, every emotion, every thought and loved every minute of it. We got to see the characters grow and see more of their background and what made them, them.

This unique and powerful story may frustrate you but it is so worth the read. It is one love story that should not be missed.
