Beachcomber Investigations (Beachcomber Investigations #1) by Stephanie Queen – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beachcomber Investigations (Beachcomber Investigations #1)Beachcomber Investigations by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Investigations by Stephanie Queen is a romantic detective story and the first book in the Beachcomber Investigations Series. I really enjoyed this book as there was plenty of everything you could want in a story, from action and suspense, mystery and intrigue, romance and witty banter that will have you laughing out loud. Leave yourself plenty of time to read it because once you start, you won’t want to stop, until you have absorbed every last word, as you become entertained and lost in the world of these loveable heroes.

There are many lovable characters in these books but Dane and Shana are our main focus and the sexual tension is sizzling, with their love hate relationship and their own issues holding them back. Dane is ex special ops and a legend and certainly not looking for a partner. Shana is an Aussie surfer chick and ex-Scotland Yard detective. When their worlds collide sparks come flying and tortuous games begin as they go from case to case to catch the bad guys.

You won’t just fall in love with and be captivated by Dane and Shana, you will be just as drawn to the rest of their unruly gang of players as well. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next books in the series.

Bound is the second book in The Magnus Blackwell Series by Alexandrea Weis. This  story is full of the excitement of the magic but fraught with so much danger. It is  intriguing and full of suspense and so complex. There is a battle coming in the voodoo  world and the cost maybe too high.     Lexie is now the Mambo and the most important woman in New Orleans, but that doesn’t  mean she has the support. Scotland Yard Exchange Romantic Suspense: The Complete 5 Book SeriesScotland Yard Exchange Romantic Suspense: The Complete 5 Book Series by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Scotland Yard Exchange Series Boxed Set by Stephanie Queen is a bundle of intrigue and charm. Where there is excitement abound, more action than James Bond, more twists and turns than a show ride, laughter that brings tears and romance to make you all gooey. ANNNNNNNNNDDD did I mention men who are too hot to trot??????? I have previously read Stephanie’s Beachcomber Investigation series and loved it. This boxed set takes it all back to the beginning, so I now have a better idea of the characters and where they all fit. Reading Stephanie’s work is always a treat that leaves me feeling good with all the antics that these characters get up to.

Get on it and enjoy the ride and laughter.

Thrilling Ethan (Thrill of the Chase, #2)Thrilling Ethan by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thrilling Ethan by Anna Paige certainly lives up to its title and is totally thrilling and amazing and beautifully written. Anna has written a story that is so full of emotions that I found myself in tears as I navigated this journey with these outstanding characters and their world. This book proves that family comes in all shapes and sizes and that love can heal places we didn’t know could be healed. The story equally had me laughing out loud and swooning as our main characters relationship developed not only between themselves but with their friends as well. Anna has certainly blown this story out of the water and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. I am now off to read the first book as I don’t want to miss out on any of Annas work.

The Black KnightsThe Black Knights by Elyse Reyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Black Knights is the third book in the Vespers Chronicles by Elyse Reyes and is a great continuation of the story. This journey with the Vespers is fast paced and action packed and the story is well written and flows nicely. As usual the story is engaging from the very start. I have loved this series from the beginning and love catching up with these characters like they are old friends. Watching Jasper grow and become the woman she is, faults and all, has been amazing. She is strong and powerful whilst at the same time vulnerable. Leading the Vespers is hard enough but when you have someone trying to undermine you from the inside, evil trying to destroy the order itself and people you love there is only so much you can take before you let loose.

Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Joined is the first book by Mara Gan is one incredible read and is wonderfully written story. It is a Sci Fi, Fantasy, romance that is a winner. I am not typically a Sci Fi lover but I loved this gripping and riveting story. Mara’s unique writing style makes it easy for this magical world of magical races to become a reality. Truth, Alex Conner Chronicles by Parker Sinclair is the second book in series and a fab continuation from the first book, where Alex and her fight continues. This series crosses a mixture of genres such as, urban fantasy and fantasy, magic and romance. This book is action packed from the word go and Parker’s storyline will keep you pumped as we watch our sassy and strong heroine kick some butt whilst coming face to face with demons and Fae and magic users of all kinds. But who can she really trust? Are her feelings truly hers or is there something else at play? This book ends on a huge cliffhanger that makes you cry out in frustration as you wait for the next book. Must Love Fashion (Darling Cove #1)Must Love Fashion by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Must Love Fashion by Deborah Garland is the first book in the Darling Cove series and is such a heartfelt and engrossing story, that follows two people who work at a top fashion industry and where the journey of finding love is not as easy as it should be. I greatly enjoyed this story and Deborah’s writing style, where the character’s are strong and the steamy romance is not always smooth sailing but has complexities with twists and turns. But oh what a story! I was unable to put this book down as I had to know what was coming and where things were going with this couple, Andrew who is still grieving and Gwendolyn moving on from a failed marriage. The relationship between the two is explosive and tumultuous in and out of the bedroom and add that to their daily lives in the fashion world and sparks fly!

This story is full of love and laughter, heartache and loss but is not a story that should be missed. I can’t wait to see what Deborah has in store for us next.

Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance (Stranded in Paradise, #2)Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Island Smile is the second book in the Stranded in Paradise by Lindsay Marie Miller. It is an action romance story where lives are destroyed thanks to one evil and selfish person. The action and mayhem starts almost right from the get go, where something that should be a wonderful and joyous occasion is overthrown by evil and horrific events. When faced with something from their past our main characters are in shock with what they see and what it will mean for them. Of course waiting for the devil to show his true colours doesn’t take long and everyone is thrown into chaos and find themselves in a place they never thought they would see again.

The romance in this story is not in the forefront of the book, the story mainly focuses on the action and boy does it have action. If you like action/romance, this book is definitely for you.

Shifting Ground is the collection of short stories by Alice Rachel from her Under Ground series. The concept allows us a look at the characters from the series and the lives they lead. Alice writes with so much passion as we see the everyday struggles and horrible times.

There are twelve different stories that make up this anthology and the journey is not always happy. Some will pull on your heartstrings and others will make you angry and want to smack someone but there are those that will put smile on your face.

I love the fact that the proceeds of this book go to such a good cause, The Ally Coalition (an LGBT association helping LGBT+ youth in need)

Jungle Eyes is the first book in the Stranded in Paradise trilogy by Lindsay Marie Miller. It is an action adventure/ historical romance. The story starts off a bit slow but builds up as we are faced with danger and fear, drama and twists and turns as there is shipwrecks and pirates, murder and mystery. There are moments where you find yourself laughing or sighing when something touched you and moments when your heart breaks. The relationship between our main characters is frustrating at times and was a little frustrating to follow but it is a slow burning love story on a tropical paradise, or is it?

Lindsay is good at setting a scene. I wonder where the next book takes us.
