The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is a great dark fantasy.
Everyone knows something about the stairs, the tattoos, and the kidnappings, but I have no idea what to ask. When the queen of the small country of Arcadia is killed, inter-racial tensions reach a boiling point. For decades, the delicate Ellisians have subjugated the stronger and more numerous Cadians, subduing and torturing them with the powerful Negaforce, but the Cadians have now discovered a leader who can organize them into rebelling. The queen’s two daughters were meant to die as well, but both efforts failed, and the kingdom is now in the hands of the older sister, whose brutality has been fine-tuned by her anxiety. Males with their inferior Negaforce have no significance in the Ellisians’ matriarchal culture. They are abandoned at birth and taken to be trained as mindless warriors to watch over the Cadians. When the queen’s younger sister discovers that many of these Brethren warriors are her brothers, a chain reaction of disaster begins.
I loved this story and the concept of it as well.I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book in the series and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I enjoyed this sports romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. This is a well written story that pulled me in from the first word. The characters are relatable and would have no problems imagining being friends with them. They brought the story to life and made the story fun to read. This is a fast paced story about Claude and Delilah. This is their second chance romance story. They were married and divorced but with that comes lots of hurt. Years later when they meet again, will fate step in and give them a second chance? I enjoyed their growth throughout the story. It also was an emotional roller coaster in parts but they made such great characters. They really made the story for me. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what fate has in store for them.

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) By Olivia Sherwood
This was such a sweet romantic story. Annabelle is very much alone now that her grandmother Sophie has passed away. I loved hearing all the stories about Sophie, who everyone in their small town thought was crazy. Sophie was a fun loving eccentric big hearted woman. Annabelle was also seen as a strange kid growing up in the small town. She does have 2 great best friends and I hope to learn more about them in the books to come. Wyatt also grew up in this small town but didn’t run in the same crowd as Annabelle. He is back home after being in the military, he has some scars on the outside and inside and is trying to work through some stuff. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I was rooting for them the entire time. These characters are very relatable and I felt like I was right there in the story with them. This was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this mystery story. This is a newer author for me and I look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well written story about Sophie and how she finds her mentor dead. She has everything going for her until this point. Now she is trying to find out who did this to her coupon mentor. I enjoyed how the characters bring the story to life. They made it fun and easy to read. It is a short story that is fast paced and pulled me in. This is a great story that I read in one sitting. I highly recommend this book.
This first novel in the Parker Lake Series delivers the kind of heartwarming and touching tale that the synopsis introduces us to. Many times I found myself smiling or laughing along while I was reading.
Sherwood has written a beautifully heartwarming novel, with great character developments and makes you feel like you’re right there with them. She has the ability to paint a picture with her words while keeping the flow of the characters points of view.
Sherwood had me captivated within moments of starting the first chapter, I couldn’t stop reading! I will most definitely be waiting for the next novel, and hope to have the series on my shelf one day.

This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, it was entertaining, dramatic, mysterious and fun with never a dull moment. Right from the get go I was intrigued and captivated by the storyline and I couldn’t wait to figure out how everything played out. I loved how the author kept me on my toes the whole time, it made for a highly entertaining read.

I could not put this book down. I read it in a day. There’s so many twists and turns. It is about a teenager named Lucy who goes to live with her uncles in a new town and then finds out what she believes to be impossible: that she is half witch and half demon plus she has 2 cute boys fighting over her but not everyone is who they really claim to be. A great fun paranormal book.

Discovering her mother’s assassination attempt did not fail, she’s finds herself in a power struggle with her cruel sister to either keep things the way they’ve always been or forge a new path adopting some of the customs of the other races with whom they share their kingdom.
This was one of those books that I simply couldn’t stop reading until the end. Sometimes, I find myself having a hard time keeping up with nuances in fantasy books with different species and getting a clear picture of the world and characters; thankfully, this wasn’t one of those books. The author depicted an immersive world of characters and scenery that developed naturally while progressing the storyline. It had a dsytopian feel to it, balanced out with moments of compassion and tenderness, and it was set up in a way that the reader was discovering the secrets of this relam alongside Elfern as she pieced together information she collected along the way. While the book ends in a way that is satisfactory on its own, I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series to see what happens next (Please tell me this is going to be a series book!!).
Unlikely In Love is the first book in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood. This was a new author to me but I was interested in the blurb and decided to give it a go. I’m very glad I chose to as I really enjoyed this book. I loved the female lead Annabelle (Annie) and the camaraderie that she has with her best friends. I’m envious of people who have that kind of relationship with their friends. They support one another but are not scared to have a laugh at their friend’s expense too and they sure do when Annie’s childhood crush Wyatt comes on the scene. I also adored Wyatt, the male lead. I loved his sexy flirty ways that he had with Annie as he was trying to get under her skin and make her flustered. I really enjoyed reading the growing friendship and then budding romance between these two. The book is very well written and the storyline flows freely and keeps you engaged in the story from the very beginning right up until the very end. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.

Lake of Flowers is the fifth book in N.L. Holmes’ Lord Hani Mysteries series. By this point, the characters really feel like old friends and it’s so wonderful to catch up with them and hear how they’re coping in a turbulent world. I adore Holmes’ writing for how vividly she depicts ancient worlds. Her work is heavily influenced by archaeology and research so while it’s fiction the story follows the course of real historical events. What really makes it special for me, though, is the small details. What characters eat and wear, their physical characteristics, how they travel, that sort of thing. The multisensory depiction immerses the reader in the world, and familiar elements (beer, honey, even garlic which really surprised me and I had to look that one up to see if they really would have eaten it!) brought me closer to the past. Lake of Flowers begins with a tragic death that threatens to destabilise the kingdom’s political structure. Hani and his family and associates are all invested in the outcome of the inevitable unrest, and the mystery that deepens as the story progresses. Young Neferet plays a prominent role, with her position as a royal physician entangling her in the events of the book. She’s a fantastic character – funny, clever and independent. I would recommend reading this series from the beginning (Bird in a Snare) to get to know the characters and the setting. There are lots of names to remember but Holmes does a good job of reminding readers in text as well as including a character list to refer to. For me, this is a five-star read. I’d recommend it to fans of history and mystery! The series might also appeal to fans of high fantasy – although itself not fantasy, the setting and stories do at times remind me of fantasy books I’ve enjoyed with worlds based on history.

This is the second audible I have listened to in this series. This series can be listened to as a standalone but I highly suggest the first audible as well, just as awesome. This is a story that has creative characters and an easy flowing story line. I enjoyed how the narrator brought the story to life with the tones of voice. They made me want to keep listening and wanting more. They took me on a journey of twists and turns. This is an easy flowing story that keeps the story engaging. I highly recommend this audible. It is definitely worth listening to. Find out what will happen to Dahlia next.

This is the first book that I have read in awhile that immediately grabbed my heart strings and pulled until I was so invested, I forgot to eat! Annabelle’s story in itself would have been enough to base a story off of – her relationship with Sophia, her best friends in the world, and the small town that loves her as much as she loves it. Then came Wyatt. Lord. Have. Mercy. The man has obviously been through a lot, but after three tours, a constant reminder on his face, PTSD, and a broken heart he finds himself back in his small hometown and it can only get better from here. Will they? Won’t they? Is it a good idea? Is there more to this than what meets the eye? This story had everything my romantic heart desired and kept me wanting more on every page. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series and whatever else Olivia comes out with.

Author Sirena paints a vivid picture in the telling of this story. I enjoyed reading this book as it is a gripping story. The ending was shocking, however I should have seen it coming. I love how the author, Jane Suen, leads you into the three women’s characters lives and problems separately. There are three different story lines that somehow tie into one plot. I love the perspective of each individual character and how their lives develop throughout.

This one was probably a lot more science fiction than I could handle. It was a really neat concept with the multiverse and connected minds. This story provides insight to unfortunate and real aspects that some people face in life, abuse. As a survivor myself, although nowhere near the events in the book, I found that this provided a message of hope through tragedy. Each decision we make, and don’t make, has consequences. How we handle these outcomes is the challenge, for most, and sometimes that challenge becomes lost hope. However, learning and bonding with others is one way to fight the demons, as long as the demons haven’t destroyed you completely. Lillian and Allison build a silent bond, based off of these demons, but yet each woman’s story has a different ending! I enjoyed reading the story of these women and taking some of their strength to be able to deal with my own demons!

I am in love with this book. This was a truly magical story that really came to life for me. A story that I could easily see myself reading again. From the moment I began reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. Each character is complex and unique. This story was full of plot twists that kept me wanting to turn each page to find out what would happen next. This story by far is probably one of the best paranormal stories I have read in a long time and can’t wait to grab the rest of the series.

The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber is the first book in a new YA paranormal romance series, The Girl and the Raven. Lucy is the main character and she has just discovered more than she ever could imagine about herself and her family. I really like this flawed and likable character. She comes across as realistic because she does not react to what is going on with a wealth of teenage trope attitude. Instead, she is shocked, dismayed, intrigued, and curious. I like this is not another teen story following the same storyline of many other YA paranormal stories. I was curious as to where the story was leading and want to continue reading this series. The interactions between the different factions kept me curious and I really like the characters. They are well developed and focused on the story. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

This is the 3rd book in the Bad Man on Campus Series. This is ok to read as a standalone alone which is what I have done.I found this story really sad and heartbreaking at times. But a good story through all the pain. The author does a good job with the characters. Glory has had a really hard time in her life. With an incident that happened in her past it sent her on a downward spiral, and when the love of her life left that was when she turned to drink to cope.
3 years later she is on the road to recovery from the trauma and also her alcoholism. Things are better and when Kace arrives back in her life this could be their second chance.
Kace left to deal with his own problems and his need for distance from everyone he knows to move forward. Now after a successful time as a hockey champion he has returned to get back the woman he loves. However time has changed and Kace’s reputation as player means that the couple will have a lot of hills to overcome if they are going to be together. Hills and obstacles put in their way from the past and the present. Are Kace and Glory strong enough this time around to get through them and revive their love. Or will too much have happened and things not been forgive will that eventually tear them apart.

I was intrigued by this story. I loved the jobs these two have. He’s a vet and she work with a group to free tigers and lions from circus’. Very noble for them both. Then he gets invited on a trip as their vet. Totally amazing! I loved the stories that came out of his trip on working with the animals. I’m so jealous! To me this is the main story..the romance came second. The descriptiveness which involved..little sleep, bugs, terrain and natives really helps sell this and make it believable.
I enjoyed meeting Simone and the rest of her friends that work saving these animals too. Simone was supposed to be the fundraiser and PR but I never saw her do that job except once. Mostly she ran on missions and feed/cleaned the animals. Each Simone and Sheldon have relationship issues. He seemed very aware and tried to overcome. She ran hot and cold and was not my favorite character for attitude. She did great with the animals but not the people.
Overall there are many delightful parts of this story. I did enjoy the “nod” to Frank from a different series. Sheldon is a very complex and amusing character. I was going to ask how the author came upon this idea but I found out in the acknowledgments.

From what I can recall this is my first book by Danielle Jacks and it has me wondering why. While I tend to read ‘spicy’ romance books this book hit home with the realness that it portrayed. Jody is, as she feels, the family screw up. Honestly, she is a bit of a hot mess, but when her grandmother gets hurt she goes to her. There enters Adam. He is yummy. Their story held me captivated and I wasn’t mad about it. It is worth a read if you want a relatable love story.

Book Review: Lyon Tamer Author: Jen Leurssen Four Stars This book is described as a Nerdy Romcom Adventure. Jen Leurssen is a new to me author. This is why I love my Kindle Unlimited Subscription, I am able to discover these authors and enjoy their works. Good read, but honestly I enjoyed the large cat rescue and release part of the story more than I enjoyed the romance. This story is definately a very SLOW burn. There are a few parts of this story that you can visualize and are so serene and so beautiful you wish you were actually there and could be a part of it all, and there are the parts that are so hilariously funny and graphic that you can almost smell what it was like to be there. And lets just admire the Good Doctors hobby okay…. creating Minatures?? WHAT!?!?! Definately an author to watch for more. KLH

Caim (Antipodes Book 4) by T.S. Simons is a Dystopian post-apocalyptic, story. Expect the unexpected and that is what I like about TS’s writing. I thought book 3 was my favourite of the series but it would seem that this one is, which means they are getting better with each book. I have to say that my emotions from this book were running higher than normal. TS just loves taking her characters and readers on a roller coaster of an adventure. Just when they thought they were safe and settled their worlds are once again thrown into chaos.
I will say it again but make sure to read the books in order to ensure you have the full background on each of the characters and their struggles and lives so far.

Unfortunately, she becomes a prime suspect and gets far more than she bargained for. She becomes the talk of the town and the one who turns men’s heads. There are a lot of side characters and little tales of their own. With murder and rustling and bank robberies, and adventure this is more than just a romance story it is also a murder mystery and a cozy mystery all rolled into one.

Lines by Leon is a collection of short stories, poems, prose and pictures by Leon Stevens. This collection is written from the heart and and touch on several topics like the Environment, Human Relations and behavior I truly enjoyed reading this book. Each one of the short stories and Poems you can feel the emotions in some and they were definitely written from the heart. I found myself lost in the pages and literally buzzed right through it in less than a hour. There’s something for everyone in this book and I highly recommend it. This is a new author to me but I definitely look forward to reading more from him.

The first time I read the ending (yes first, this is my 4th time reading this book but first listen) I was completely blown away by the talent D.M. Earl possess. And now add to that the amazing narration Torii Alaniz does and it just brings it to a whole new level.
D.M. Earl wrapped up the story in an expertly crafted way that satisfies readers and crazy fans like myself. If you’re interested in this book and you haven’t read the first two I would highly recommend you read those first. But be warned…… grab onto your seat you’re in for a wild ride.
