The beginning seemed slow to me. There was a lot of setting the scene and meeting new (to me) people. I started a list to keep them straight then realized that a few were related. This is the third series in a book and I have not read the first two. That might have helped a bit in the confusion area.

Once the two main characters becomes tangled up with each other the story picked up a bit. This is a romantic suspense and I wasn’t sure where the suspense was until about half way through. Then it seemed mostly suspense and not much romance. I am not sure what it is about this story but I can’t seem to connect with the characters. I don’t care about them so this fell flat for me.

As mentioned this is the third in the series and maybe if I had read the first two I might be better off. Maybe I would be able to connect better. I did like the advice that Jace gave Samantha on writing.

This is a paranormal-shifter romance story that I enjoyed from the beginning to end. This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed how she was able to pull me into the story and make me feel as if I was right there. The story is creative and the characters are connectable. This is a story about Havana and her three protectors who just happen to be hot and sexy. Their twists and turns had me turning pages fast just waiting to see what would happen next. I highly recommend this book

This story picks up right where the last one left off with Trinity and Blain. There is action right from the beginning and continues until the end. Trinity is trying to come to terms with her destiny but she finds that life keeps throwing things at her. Will she be able to do the task she is fated with? Will she get her HEA? I enjoyed watching her grow throughout both books, stronger in each one. She is a well thought out character. Highly recommend this book.

Killmore by Martha Sweeney is part one of a two part series. All I can say is wow. How she dealt with what she did for as long as she did was amazing, the it all hits the fan. Fast forward in time to her life now, Laurie has moved on and enjoying life with her dogs Cain and Mabel (loved their names). But is the past really ever truly dead and gone?

I have a friend at work that I will talk books with from time to time. She is quite picky over the years I have learned what she likes. I recommended this book to her before I was half way through it and I can’t wait to see what she thinks of it.

There are things I want to mention but they could be considered spoilers so I won’t mention them. I will say that I cannot wait to get started on the next book.

The Changeup by Mary Billiter is the sixth book in the Resort Romance Novel series and I really liked this book. I loved Rebel and her co-workers at The Point. I would have loved to see them a little more involved at certain parts of the story.

Ryan was a great guy, but a little too good of a guy for me. But I guess since he is studying to be a sheriff’s deputy he has to be good.

Ms. Billiter’s stories have more than just the romance aspect, there always a much deeper story involved and I really do enjoy that. Hope to see more books in this series!

Felicity Found by Lara Ward Cosio is the sixth book in the Rogue series. I can’t believe we are already at book six in this series. I still remember deciding to read the first while on vacation and falling in love with the band. Now here we are, a few years later. There have been marriages, a divorce, babies and sorts of interesting moments. All of which have made me fall on love with them all just a little more.

Felicity and Conor are now the parents of not one but two infants and how Felicity has been able to keep it together this long amazed me. Thankfully she has the love and support of an amazing husband to find her someone to talk to. I only had one baby and how stressed I was with caring for her.

I know all good things must come to an end, but I’m not ready to let go of this group and it appears they aren’t done either.

Must Be Crazy by Deborah Garland

Must Be Crazy is the third book in the Darling Cove series by Deborah Garland. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend you read the whole series because they are all really good reads. This book had my emotions all over the place, laughing one minute and crying the next, that to me is what makes a good book great, having real reactions to the story. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down till I read the last.
Skye is going through a rough patch and hold onto a big secret, so when her apartment burns down and Edward comes barreling into her life, things are starting to get a little brighter. Edward is a single parent and really interested in Skye, but will she open up and trust him with her secret?
If you like a great romance, I highly recommend this book, series and author. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Killmore by Martha Sweeney is a five star novel. I love how we are thrown into the story right from the get go. Some stories take a while to get the story across but this one starts of right from the start with action packed adventure. Lori got into the thick of things with a Mexican crime lord. When the feds get to her and want her to help them, she agrees because she knows she can’t be a part of this life anymore. Without any trust in her new witness protection, she has to stay on full alert and keep on training so she can be as strong as she needs to be in order to keep herself safe. Just because they are the feds, doesn’t mean they will be able to always be there to keep her safe. I cannot wait to read book #2!

The First backwards Christmas was a super cute short read. The author gives you a lot in a few chapters but it’s fun and well written. The characters are funny and unique because they are in a part of the world that I can’t imagine living. When people start to leaves their small town Jack and Joyce are worries that their relationship would be next. But that doesn’t stop Joyce from letting everyone know that Jack would be a great Mayor for their town. Jack is such a relaxed and open guy. I love his take on solving the town’s issue. No one would have ever thought to make a backwards Christmas. The idea was fresh and gave the town hope. For such a short story the author did really well letting you see who they characters were and how they connected.

Brad is the man featured in this book and he vividly reveals five different fantasies all with different women that casually flow through his life. The stories are short with not much substance, but extremely hot sex scenes. This book is definitely an 18+ book.

Getting the Goods is a funny story that is a little sad when you think about it. Stealing sperm? What could possibly go wrong!? I don’t think I have read a funnier story. Gabriella and Conner are completely different types of people, however they want the same things; to have great sex with no strings and ultimately, to just be happy.

Gabriella and Conner are fun characters that learn a few things during the course of this story. Conner ends up being her boss but in turn needs her, first in business then in his personal life. Gabriella only needs Conner for one thing, his goods.

This story kept me laughing and hoping, because a story that starts out with the characters plotting to steal sperm has got to be good. Getting the Goods is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Perry and she did not let me down. I really hope her other stories are just as much fun to read.

I was supposed to go to the gym yesterday but I skipped it because I didn’t want to put this funny rom-com down.

I have so many funny quotes highlighted that I feel like I would just be quoting the book by putting them here. Oh ok, here are a few of my favorites:

(When talking about going to jail) “First of all, you’d be just fine as someone’s (b word). You were in a sorority in college, after all. It’s probably the same thing, just with less booze.”

“I haven’t had sex in so long that I’m pretty sure my vagina is dryer than the Sahara Desert. It’s quite sad, actually.”

“…I would rather get gang banged by a group of chickens than to have to touch David in that way. A girl has to have standards.”

See??? Funny Stuff!!!!

Gabriella and her bestie, Maria, are so funny together and the way they talk to each other had me laughing out loud. The heat between Gabriella and Conner was scorching. Their banter back and forth was as funny as the girls’. It’s a romantic comedy in the classic sense of the word.

This was a fun book to read and although it had a few grammatical errors, it was never enough to take me out of the story. The characters are quickly developed, we are able to know their motivation so there is never any doubt as to what is going on and it flows well from beginning to end.

I am hopeful that the best friend and brother get their stories told also.

This was a very different story than previous books, as it delves into 2 very sensitive subjects. But it was done so so well.
Quinn is an event planner, and she’s doing well enough for herself and her daughter. Until she’s blindsided by a vehicle running a light and here enters Lucas.
Lucas can’t describe what he’s feeling towards Quinn when he sees her in her mangled car other than instant attraction and need to protect.
As the story goes on and they learn more about their pasts, they are what each other need to move forward. Until Quinn comes face to face with the man who changed her life.
Can these two ever find a way to be together or are they forever meant to be alone?

Killmore is the explosive first book in the Killmore duet by Martha Sweeney. These books are not intended to be read as standalones and you will need to read them in order, to understand the story.
This book totally blew me away and I was gripped from beginning to end. Thankfully I have the second book, The Killmores, to jump straight into as I can’t wait to see how this story concludes and how many twists and turns it will take us on, on the way there.
Heroine of the book, Laurie has to be one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever read. She is totally kick ass awesome and takes absolutely no crap from anyone. Starting off as the wife of a dodgy cop who pimps her out to a major Mexican crime lord, she then goes into witness protection only to discover that her next door neighbour is an even bigger crime lord. Then federal agent Aiden Killmore pretends to be her boyfriend to be able to spy on her neighbour. Totally hacked off with hoe she’s been treated by the feds in the past, Laurie does everything in her power to make life hell for Aiden. Through time Aiden breaks down a couple of the many walls she has built around herself and their fake relationship becomes real. However Laurie’s life is still at risk and life is far from easy for Laurie and Aiden.
This is a series that I’d highly recommend to other readers. This first book had me on the edge of my seat and I’m so excited to see what happens next.

Forgetting Ophelia: A Novel, is the second book in the Friendships & Secrets Series by Julie C. Gardner. It is a women’s fiction story- full of love, loss, denial, secrets, truth, new beginnings, finding yourself, choices, friendship, and emotion. This is my first book by Ms. Gardner, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect- but after finishing it I am happy that I took a chance and grabbed it when it showed up on my feed. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more of Ms. Gardner’s work in future.
Jake and Lia lived a perfect life… didn’t they? Surely she’d know if it wasn’t, right? So, imagine her shock when instead of embarking on a trip to Hawaii for their 5th wedding anniversary, Jake up and leaves her. What happened to burst their perfect bubble? What can she do to win him back?
But as the story unfolds, Lia begins to see that things weren’t as perfect as she’d hoped they were. Secrets are revealed, which bring her house of cards tumbling down around her. Starting over wasn’t part of the ‘plan’, but here she is trying to do exactly that. Add her Zany mother, her bestie, and two new guys into this mix, and the story gets interesting.
The story was a little bit slow to get going, but after a few chapters the paced picked up and the story took flight. The characters were all fully realised individuals, and the growth and development was really good- as the Lia we see at the end of the book is quite different form the Lia we met in the beginning.
Lia really lost her own identity over the years, taking on Jake’s expectations and ideas as her own. She also suffered from denial, in a big way. So, this story really has a large component of losing one’s self, realization, and ‘self-(re)discovery’.
Ms. Gardner weaves a great story, and I look forward to seeing what she does next.

Getting the Goods is a standalone contemporary romance novel that will have you laughing from the very first chapter. The plot is simple, yet completely ridiculous, which is what makes it such an addictive read. The characters are engaging and honestly, I just really liked this read. For fans of romantic comedies or classic miscommunication scenarios, this is a must read.

We meet Gaby during one of the most important nights of her life; the night she will finally steal the sperm needed to help her get pregnant. This sounds insane, but as soon as I read the blurb I new I had to read this book. The more crazy, the better, right? Gaby and the relationship with her friend Maria (who let’s be honest, has some questionable practices) is amusing right from the beginning and remains this way throughout the story. But things really get interesting when Gaby meets Conner/Carter and hilarity really ensues. Not only does Gaby find out her job is at risk and the man whose sperm she tried to steal is now her boss, she is also faced with his twin. Yep, there are two of them. Cue funny miscommunications, dramatic passing-outs and awkward encounters. What more could you want from a romantic read?

This is a feel-good read that has the perfect balance of drama, emotion and laughs. While the comedy level is high, there are some serious issues dealt with in this book, including Gaby’s issues with fertility. This may be a difficult read for some but I found it insightful and inspiring. The author dealt with these themes respectfully and it’s left me wanting to read more of her work. If you’re looking for a well-rounded and satisfying read, Getting the Goods is a must!

Guilty Pleasures Volume 2 by Joyce McCarthy is a collection of erotic short stories that explore lust, chance encounters, and fantasies come to life- older woman/younger man, teacher/student liaisons, hooking up with the sexy next door neighbour, friends-to-lovers, and more. Some of these situations are what society may consider a little taboo, but it all makes for some very “HOT” reading!
We meet Brad, a college student, and follow along on his sexual adventures. There are five different erotic encounters that are woven between the covers of this book. They have a fast pace and are an extremely quick read. The stories were really well done, but I just would have preferred longer versions of them.
But, if you are looking for a book to fill in some time while waiting on an appointment, or on the commute to work- and you like a little sizzle in your reading material- then this is the book for you!

“The Killmores” by Martha Sweeney is the second book in the Killmore series, so you MUST read “Killmore” first! Well, if “Killmore” was the story driven book, then “The Killmores” is the action driven book! As expected from the ending of “Killmore”, “The Killmores” is non-stop crazy action and not a moment to catch your breath! This is a longer book and I still ate it up in a day since so much happens! Definitely a book you don’t want to put down just because you want to know what happens next! The two main characters have been through so much, both together and before they met, and their lives were so crazy, I was not sure how this would all play out. I have to say though; I thought the ending was wonderful! The whole book was, of course, but the ending was spectacular! The far- away places and the character development was what really made this book so great to me. I love when an author takes a flawed character and turns them into more than you thought they could be and Martha Sweeney does just that! So, I give “The Killmores” five stars! I’m sad to see it end, but oh what an end it was!

“Killmore” by Martha Sweeney is the first of two of the Killmore novels. Our main character is a woman who is not to be messed with. She has been through too much as it is and is determined to do what she needs to do. She is strong, smart and sexy, a deadly combination. I won’t reveal any details, even her name, for it all plays a major part in this story and I don’t want to give anything away! This fierce woman is not one to easily trust anyone. Her guard is always up and she is always ready for what needs to be done. Some of her bickering with other characters got on my nerves, but is just goes to show that she doesn’t let anyone else dictate her life. This book is very story driven, and the story is a darn good one! When I had to put the book down, my thoughts would drift back to it and left me wondering what would happen next. The story is exciting, witty and very dark at times. If you like a leading lady with some secrets and an intense story, then this is the book for you! I give “Killmore” five stars and can’t wait to read book two, “The Killmores!”

This is a collection of 5 short stories about Brad and his sexual conquests.

Each short features Brad with a new partner. Each short is sexually explicit and is like a scene out of his memoirs. It specifically surrounds that specific woman/event.

There were times when I was thoroughly confused because of sentence structure. At one point Brad says he “should have called her Aunt Rachel” which made absolutely no sense and I went back several times to see what I missed. There are other examples of this throughout each of the stories. They are small in nature and I was able to move past it.

If you like short erotica, this might be the collection for you.

Cupid and crime in the same story? Yes please! Billiter has another homerun with this book. Entertaining and fun, this book was an immediate page turner and one I couldn’t walk away from before reading to the last page. I loved the characters. I was immediately transported into the story and vested into the storyline that developed. A great book and one I look forward to reading again.

A four-star read to take a punt on. I honestly didn’t know what to think about when I picked this one up, as the blurb was what hooked me it just intrigued me to a point that I had to know more. I don’t know what it was about this one that made me chuckle, there was just something about it. The writing style will take a little to get used to, but I promise once you do then you will enjoy it the directness of Frank is shocking but fun. Some of the characters you will adore like Mikey you will love but some not so much, but I will leave it to you to decide.

There was so much pain in this story. Laurie and Aiden didn’t have much peace in their relationship. There is something constantly getting in the way. Their relationship felt like it was on borrowed time. The story was always in movement. It felt like there was always something happening. It was suspenseful and action filled. The story was far from predictable. I don’t know where to focus because so much happened. Aiden is a really strong character he feels with his whole heart. He doesn’t just state pretty words. I liked that the author gave him a voice and didn’t just focus on Laurie’s POV. I like the direction this story took at first but by like close to the end I was getting upset. I was not expecting what happened to happen. I was in shock. I was literally on the edge of my bed like OMG! This series has got something good going. Strong writing skills and a great character development. The author has done really well putting together this book. It has definitely caught my attention.

It stands well on its own but I felt better prepared for the closer look into Mouse this book brought having read other books in the series. Overall, just a fantastic book and series. I’ve become a huge fan of Mellett and look forward to reading more.

Her goal is to attend Burning Night which is located in a small town in Alaska. She also meets younger man named Tim. Will she find happily ever after or will it just be another heartbreak?

I have been in a reading slump lately and was apprehensive about reading anything. The summary caught my attention and I thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did. Collie was strong and vulnerable and it was great to read her growth and how she overcame obstacles. I was so happy when I was reading her leaving her abusive husband and trying to regain her self confidence that had been lowered over the years.

I don’t want to give too much away. With a strong female lead, a little romance and a theme of overcoming obstacles and reaching your goals, this is novel that can be relatable to anyone who reads it.

This story maybe short but it leaves you on the edge and doesn’t let go. I really enjoyed this novel and will read more by this author.

This a very sweet Christmas love story that includes Disney theme. The two main characters are great. Sophie is a loving, caring aunt. She is willing to do anything for her niece even visit her least favorite place….Disney! Ray seems like the opposite of Sophie. They both are kind, living, and caring people, but Ray is much more laid back. He also LOVES Disney! They learn so much about each other and themselves. In this book, I loved Sophie’s niece, Ariel. She is a little ball of energy who is very perceptive.

This is book 3 of the Solum series. Like the previous 2 books, we are following Elizabeth on her path as she remembers what has happened to her. Colleen Myers does a fantastic job at pulling in her readers and keeping them tangled in the story. I felt there were tons of twists and turns that kept me guessing on what was coming next. I recommend this series!

I loved this short story! It is a story about a man, Brad and his experiences with five separate sexual encounters. I love his character, not only is he hot and sexy but also just seems to get himself into situations that are hot and steamy, women can’t seem to resist him. I was pulled into the story by Brad and I didn’t put it down until the end. This book is creative and engaging and is meant for a mature adults but a it is a must read!
