Broken Sand Dollar was an amazing addition to the Sand Dollar series. The storyline continues to follow Alex as he faces his problems head on. I was surprised and excited for the return of Penny and this novel. Alex was faced with handling all three of the women who played key roles in the development of his character. Not once was I bored with this novel and I found it difficult to put down. Such a wonderful read and I truly loved seeing the change that occurred with each character.

BROKEN SAND DOLLAR is the final story in a trilogy and it’s important to read these books in order.

As with the other two books in the series, this is an extremely detailed story. It’s one of these stories that brings everything full circle and while I wasn’t sure what to expect – it all makes sense in the end.

Once again, the story is told from the male POV (side note: the prologue is a scene that features the cover of book 2 which I thought was super cool) and at times is a travel journal as we ride up the coast.

This whole series has been written with morals and values and is very clean.

This is the third book in the Sand Dollar series. The story picks up where it left off in part two. Leigh has run again and Alex is alone wondering what he did wrong. Sometimes when you give too much, you have nothing left to give. He decides to move back to Biloxi. Realizing that his life is off track, he decides to see a therapist. The therapist poses many questions that prompts Alex to do some soul searching. Through his self discovery, he has some breakthroughs.

Everything comes full circle in this story. Friends re-emerge and past mistakes are rectified. One lesson that is learned through this book is that you have to forgive yourself if you want to heal. The growth of the characters in this series is phenomenal. Through the trials and tribulations, they have learned lessons that enable them to stand on their own two feet. This was a very inspirational series.

Broken Sand Dollar by JD Boudreaux is the third book in the Sand Dollar series. I have enjoyed follow Alex on his journey over the years. Of the three books this is my favorite, the changes in Alex are so amazing and he finally finds his happiness.

I saw some of myself in Alex, he was always taking care of everyone else instead of focusing on himself periodically and this is something I have found myself being guilty of. His reason comes from his childhood as does mine but I like his a lot more.

Alex isn’t the only one who has gone through changes. Actually pretty much everyone changes in some way. Some are bigger than others.

This was a great series and I hope to see more this Author in the future.

It took Alex a while to get where he was meant to be but the wait I say was worth it. I love reading books where people find their place. It’s almost as if your not whole until you find that broken piece. I really like Penny and Payton. Both women really cared for Alex and showed a level of understanding that most women can’t even imagine. I really enjoy books by this author. They are both sad and touching. You get to feel so many emotions and experience what the characters do. It reads like your listening to this person face to face. It made it more relatable to me.

Broken Sand Dollar by JD Boudreaux is book three of The Sand Dollar Series. To better understand the events that take place in this book, I highly suggest reading book one and two first.

This series spans over years of Alex’s life. The author effortlessly weaves together present tense with flashbacks of Alex’s past. When you read the first two books you start to get an idea of how you think the third book will go but then it takes you on a completely different journey. Alex’s journey self reflection, coupled with the therapy he does, teaches him a lot about himself.

This book was very well written. I enjoyed seeing the differences in all the characters and how they reacted to different experiences. I was hooked as soon as I started reading this book. It was a great conclusion to the series!

A great read about forgiveness. Alex has always done his utmost to help people and care for them,, but sometimes he takes on too much. Withdrawing from it all after the events of the previous books, Alex tries to look after himself. Whilst doing so, he discovers that he is enough, but can he fix the broken relationships of the past or is too late?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Payton as funny but kind underneath or Leigh struggling with her feelings but still standing up for herself or Alex trying his best but still caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the supportive Lacey or the mother figure of Gigi loud and bubbly. This helped to create the sense of a family that sticks together and helps each other out which was a lovely touch. The only issue with this was that sometimes it felt like there were too many characters to keep track of and perhaps reducing this slightly would help the reader follow the narrative. I also liked Paytons story with her struggles with vision and life that were relatable and emotive and beautifully written.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the sense of home with the coast with its familiar sights and sea and sand and restaurants all welcoming to the characters for a sense of belonging. Or the garden and the little birds as one little corner of peace in their busy lives. The use of memories in the narrative worked well to display what happened to Payton with wonderful visual detail of the parks and the water and was easy to follow with the use of italics and didn’t distract from the narrative of the present. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Broken Sand Dollar (The Sand Dollar Series Book 3) by JD Boudreaux is the final book in The Sand Dollar Series. It is a wonderful conclusion to the story of Alex and his life. It is a must that these books be read in order each book follow on and come together nicely. It is a journey of fate, faith and being and finally finding yourself. The first two books were enjoyable but JD did well in this book to tie everything up nicely but it also felt like the story had matured much like the characters. It is an emotional read but it also brings much happiness. I loved the stupid phrases the main characters sprouted at each other that had me laughing out loud.

Alex has always been a giver a fixer but not so much for himself. The women in his life leaving him in one way or another. After his last turn at love goes wrong, he packs up and returns to the one place that he feels at home, and what he finds when he finally stops is the one thing he never thought he would have. But he also learns how far back everything in his life has lead to where he is now.

A great way to finish up the series.

I was first introduced to J.D Boudreaux’s writing when I stumbled across the beautiful cover art of Wish I Had a Nickel. At the time I had read that novel I had somehow missed it was the second in a series. While some aspects left me curious what I was missing, I was really captivated by J.D Boudreaux’s storytelling and loved the story regardless. That being said, since this is a series meant be read in order I highly recommend starting at the beginning for the full picture.
I felt that Broken Sand Dollar was a fantastic ending to a unique storyline. I tend to feel that so many romances are typical and predictable, J.D Boudreaux crafted a series with heart warming characters, great twists, and raw emotion that felt new and refreshing to me. This is definitely an author I will keep a lookout for.

This book is an amazing addition to the sand dollar series. Do yourself a huge favor and read the first two books. You will get a lot of those books that will build into the anticipation for this book. Alex was a very beloved character of mine and I was so hopeful for his story to continue. You become invested in the lives of these characters and are genuinely concerned for their health and well-being. Having said that, Alex is a man who is fixing himself. His past relationships have not gone well. He feels that he needs to save everyone and as you can imagine that is emotionally and physically draining. After all of the mishaps with his relationships, he moves back to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. The place he calls home.
The dialogue in this story is witty and sharp. The characters are on point and the back and forth is both hilarious and quick witted. This book is such an emotional roller coaster that you are left breathless yet excited to see what is next. You will not guess the ending to this book and if you did, then you cheated. I loved every inch of this book. Highly recommended for all readers of genres as this is not the typical romance novel.

The author has done a great job with this book. Having read the first two books I thought I knew exactly what direction the third would take. However the author took that expectation and completely threw it out. And did it with such ease it made me wonder how I could have ever thought it would go differently.
This book has to be my favourite in the series. I loved reading about Alex and how he was portrayed. This is a great book and a great series.

I’m so sad this series is over but absolutely love how this author brought it all together and I was completely satisfied with all that happened in this book. I was off base with my predictions and I was sad at first but then it all made sense to me and I was very happy.

This has been an amazing series, I read book 2 first which was a big mistake because it had me all confused so had to go back and read book 1 to get some of the answers I needed.

I fell completely in love with the characters in all 3 books and loved some of the connections and bonds that were unbreakable and worth fighting for.

I will absolutely read this series again in the future and will recommend it to anyone that needs a good series to get lost in.

Many thanks to this author and I can’t wait to see what will come next.

Loved it!!

Broken Sand Dollar is the last book in the Sand Dollar Series by J D Boudreaux. As this is the last book in the series, I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series. The story has been building from the first book, Penny For Your Thoughts. The books are a contemporary love story. We follow Alex through his relationships, and it has been a big emotional ride. The characters are complex and can totally be a friend in the neighborhood. One main thing I liked about this story is that it was believable. I found myself talking to my kindle trying to get Alex’s attention. There are personal demons that the characters go through, but it was handled like my best friend would assist me in fixing my problems. I hope that you enjoy Alex and take the roller coaster ride like I did.

Broken Sand Dollar by J.D. Boudreaux is the third book in the Sand Dollar Series. I really recommend reading the first 2 books before reading this book. The story continues with Alex and his development and progress in life. I really like the story has not always followed the progress I thought it would take. The turns are great and very well done. Alex is a wonderful character whose kindness has brought wonderful relationships into his life. Each of these has helped him to grow as a person and all served a purpose in his life. I have really enjoyed this series and the realness of the relationships. The characters are not perfect and each has their own issues to overcome. Wish I Had a Nickel is the second book in The Sand Dollar Series by J D Boudreaux. A heartwarming story for sure. A story that you can get lost in with great characters that you will come to love. Ms. Boudreaux has captured my interest and heart with this series.

Alex & Leigh have always been inseparable. Growing up it was natural to see one with the other. But when Leigh’s family moves out of state, the distance and separation cause them to drift apart. Fast forward 30 years and Alex & Leigh meet again. After years of separation will they be able to use their old friendship to build a new romance?

Ms. Boudreaux does a wonderful job of bringing the reader into the story from page 1. Watching Alex & Leigh’s friendship grow, the reader can’t help but be enamored of what they have together. Ms. Boudreaux pulls lots of emotions from the reader and keeps the story at a great pace. Memorable sub-characters help to move the story and Alex & Leigh’s romance along. Along with the Alex & Leigh, the reader is reunited with Penny from Ms. Boudreaux’s first book in this series which is fantastic because the reader is able to understand more about the characters and their interactions with each other. I was happy to read there will be a 3rd book in this series so I can go back and visit with the wonderful characters. My only caveat to this review is read book 1 first. I know most often; authors will release books in series that can be read as “standalone”. This is not really the case here. To get the most out of this book the reader needs to read both books. You will love all the characters and fall in love with the story and author! I highly recommend this book and author as someone that needs to be on your TBR list!

A great read about change. Alex and Leigh have been best friends since forever. They fall in love as teenagers in a sweet romance. But life separates them as her family moved away. Can their love survive the distance?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Alex sweet and unsure or Leigh more confident standing up for herself. A sweet tale about how even friendships can sometimes end despite our best efforts and that it is hard to mend.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the sense of a small town with its little shops and small streets and everyone knowing eachother.
Also loved how it got straight into the action grabbed the readers attention.A great way to show how Alex came to be the man he is today. I just felt a bit confused after reading the first novel as it felt like it didnt fit with the first story and didn’t feel like a prequel either. If this was clarified, it would be more enjoyable. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Broken Sand Dollar is the third and final book in The Sand Dollar Series by J.D Boudreaux. As this is a continuation of a storyline, starting from book one and concluding through to this one, I really recommend reading the other books before jumping into this one. Having all that information will give you a much greater perspective of what’s happened and how we got ‘here’. There are also very relevant details contained in the first two books and having all the information is important.
I enjoyed this book more than the first two and I appreciated that the whole thing felt like the author had really hit their stride, and was seemingly ‘comfortable and confident’ with their story, characters and style.
There is a little more to it, than first meets the eye, and did have me wondering a fair bit. The author certainly didn’t take it easy on Alex, putting him to the test, over the course of the series. Alex has been quite unlucky in love, suffering several big disappointments. Things were not meant to be, but that doesn’t mean he has come out of it all unscathed. He has chosen to return to the one place that has always held a piece of his heart, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Here he does some soul-searching, which results in some self-realization. The story was quite engaging- with some drama, frustration, self-discovery, emotion, and more. Definitely my favourite of the three books, and a great way to wrap up the series!
I wonder what J.D Boudreaux has in store for us next?

Thank You, J.D Boudreaux!

“Broken Sand Dollar” is the wonderful end of the Sand Dollar series by JD Boudreaux. I highly recommend reading the first two books before reading this one so you really know what is going on and get a feel for Alex’s journey. This book was such a treat to read. I LOVED the previous books and have been waiting for months for “Broken Sand Dollar” and it did NOT disappoint! This series spans years of Alex’s life, some in real time and a lot in flashbacks and JD Boudreaux did an amazing job weaving the story together. At the end of “Wish I Had a Nickel,” I could have told you exactly what I thought was going to happen to Alex in “Broken Sand Dollar.” Oh boy was I wrong! The turn of events in this book felt so right for Alex and what he has learned through therapy and self- reflection. The ladies of his life are all wonderful characters that all taught Alex something important and it was so great to read a book that touches on mental health and growth in such a positive way. So, I obviously loved this beautiful conclusion and give “Broken Sand Dollar” five well- earned stars!

Wish i Had a Nickel is book two in the Sand dollar series by JD Boudreaux. It is a tale of friends to lovers that was full of drama and feelings. This author brings the characters to life in a very clever and enthralling way.

Alex and Leigh were joined at the hip until separated by miles. They finally reunite, and begin on a journey of rediscovery and capturing back the connection they had so long ago. This story happened fast. So rast, I wasn’t ready for the finish. Each character is highly detailed, leaving no questions about who they are and what they want. Learning about them was exciting and breathtaking. The connection Alex and Leigh shared was riveting and certainly kept me glued to every word. I absorbed all that they felt, all that they wanted, all that they could give each other. It is always bittersweet when the end of such quality stories comes before you are aware it is happening. So engrossed with their story, it comes out of nowhere. What an experience it was to read Wish I Had a Nickel. I cannot wait for the next story in the Sand dollar series. 4 stars.

The story Broken Sand Dollar (The Sand Dollar Series Book 3) by J D Boudreaux is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It is a story that is both emotional and romantic. The book hooked me in from the very beginning and I found myself lost in its pages. I loved reading this story just as much as the first two. I enjoyed reading about the characters in the book. Alex, Penny, Leigh, and Payton are characters that are all brought forward into this story from the first two books. They are characters that I cared about and wanted them to be happy. The story is at times inspirational and has heartwarming moments. Alex is a man whose past relationships have not gone well. He is someone who feels he needs to save everyone. After all the disappointments he has gone through he has returned to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a place that has always had a piece of his heart. What does the future hold for Alex? Read this book to find out. My emotions went up and down when reading this story. There is bantering and interactions between the characters. Some of them show the deep emotions and feelings that the characters face. There is witty and moving dialogue. Don’t miss out on this wonderful and amazing story that is sure to capture your heart! It’s all about the love you give…

First there was Penny. Their relationship blossomed into something beautiful, and their engagement was proof of that. But her ambition, her need for success, meant moving forward…without Alex.

Then there was Leigh, his childhood sweetheart. She came rushing back into his life just as quickly as she had left in the first place. While helping her get her life back on track, Alex fell for her all over again. But the more she learned about Alex’s past, the more she learned about herself. Afraid of what may happen next, she does what she does best. Run.

All the while there was Payton. The woman who repeatedly found herself at the receiving end of Alex’s good deeds, who has slowly managed to get her life together. She’s forever grateful for all that he has done, but given the chance to reunite with her family, it will mean saying good-bye to Alex.

Now, while nursing his wounds after all the disappointment, Alex returns to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The place that’s always had a piece of his heart.

It’s there that he realizes it’s up to him to find his own way. Can he be still long enough to realize that what’s happened before is not the end… but the beginning?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wish I Had a Nickel: A Sweet Romance by J.D. Boudreaux is the second book in The Sand Dollar series. What happens when you are separated by distance after being born 2 days apart. Alex and Leigh are the closest of friends until one moves away. After thirty years the two are reunited. Will they find their happily ever after.
Like the first book in the series (which I recommend reading first) these are sweet people that you are rooting for in the story. I liked this book even though I felt that it got a bit sappy at times. This isn’t a bad thing and a nice relief from the heavy drama, petty, and conniving characters that are so often seen in books. The characters are well written and there is so much attention to the details of the characters and the story. The writing gives a nice, easy flow to the story that has me losing track of time and not wanting to put the story down. I look forward to more of this in the future.

Wish I Had a Nickel is the second book in the Sand Dollar Series. J. D. Bourdreaux is a mastermind at writing characters that are complex but, in the same fashion able to relate to them. Being that this is book 2, I recommend reading book 1 so that you will get more enjoyment out of this book. Ms. Bourdreaux has continued the story of Alex and Leigh. I felt a relax flow through this story as if Ms. Bourdreaux really had fun writing this book. This story has more than just romance in the story. WISH I HAD A NICKEL J D BOUDREAUX

Five Stars

This story touched a place in my heart I try to keep locked away. No one wants to lose the person they love. But when you have no choice in the matter it makes it so much more heartbreaking. Alex is at a point in his life that he wants more but isn’t sure why he hasn’t taken the steps to get it. I honestly would love to meet a guy like Alex. He is a great character. Don’t get me wrong he is definitely flawed but he doesn’t pretend or put up airs about himself. I like that this is Alex’s story. We read so many books in the females PIC that when it’s a males it catches your attention. The author did a wonderful job with this book. The story was superfluous or exaggerated. When you read this book it almost read like a memory being told to someone. A sharing of a love never forgotten.

Penny For Your Thoughts (Sand Dollar Series Book 1) by J.D. Boudreaux – Review by Sheri Schrader

Penny For Your Thoughts (Sand Dollar Series Book 1)Penny For Your Thoughts by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Penny For Your Thoughts: A Sweet Romance by J.D. Boudreaux is the first book in the Sand Dollar Series. Penny is having the day that will not end. Alex is a good guy who comes to her aide in her time of need. Can one act of kindness actually change the course of someone’s life?
This is a sweet story that had me rooting for Penny and Alex. The two are realistic because they are not perfect and have their imperfections. Overall, I enjoyed this read but felt at times that the story dragged. I seemed to get overwhelmed by some of the dialogue. I liked the story and the characters and look forward to reading more from this series. I am hoping that the sweet characters continue into the next book.
