This is an intense thriller. The town of Redemption, WI is the place of a missing sister. The other sister is out looking for her and finds herself in a hell of a bind. Psycho parents, deep buried secrets that are scary as heck and darkness. The characters are frightening in that there could be people like that in your neighborhood. The plot had me enthralled from page 1. Great thriller. Best of the year.

I give The Third Nanny: A twisted psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping ending (Secrets of Redemption) by Michele PW (Pariza Wacek), 5 stars.
I have read books in the past that were supposed to be psychological thrillers and they were, well okay. This book labels itself as a twisted psychological thriller. I was skeptical that it would live up to it, but was still interested enough to see what this book had in store for me. Right off the bat, it’s obvious that there is more going on than what meets the eye. The author has a brilliant way of slipping in more and more as the story goes on. You are left wondering what is really going on. There are so many angles here — I thought I knew what was going on, but no. Insert evil laughter from the author here.
This book was brilliantly written with so many twists and turn, you are left with your head spinning. The story is so good and unique, the characters are precisely written with so many levels to them. You really are left with wondering just who to root for and what the story of the missing girl really is about. If you are a fan of this genre, I so highly recommend it.

This novel has a very chilling plot. I learn how it grips you from the beginning. Van Schaik doesn’t leave any stone unturned. She really makes you think about how one event in life can change everything. I love how detailed this novel is. Highly recommended but be warned it has some intense triggers.

For me, I picked up this novel originally as I am one who truly enjoys true crime. And I always like to see what goes through the mind of a murderer when it comes down to it. But, with this novel I was not only left surprised, but often totally swept into different emotions as well as I read through this who truly was the real villain in all of this?
The main characters Lillian who is the one who committed to acts of murder and the crime writer specialist named Allision who personally was selected by Lillian to write her story were not only very well written, but I will be honest both of them really pulled at my heart strings and I could feel what and who they were. I felt Allision was surprised to be selected as she is in her writing , taking the victims side and to tell their story and not the opposite. But without knowing the things I would learn, maybe she was still assigned to do just that? Early on I found truth in that there is always two sides to every story. And sometimes the truth is darker than I actually thought it could be…and in truth was I really prepared for what I would find?
The novel gripped me, and I didn’t want to stop reading even when some of the scenes were a bit graphic. I am a survivor of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Reading what Lillian had gone though made me feel so much, I wanted to scream in my mind for her father to leave her alone, to cry for her to what she endured. To cry and scream for the empty pain she went through and the silent tears no one heard. It was graphic and it provided quite the visual, but I would not have it any other way. The dark descriptive scenes made you not only feel for Lillian, but put you in her shoes and saw life through her and you really got to feel who she was as a person. It made the motives so much more clearer, and yet so much more darker and deeper compared to what I ever expected or imagined.
As I read Allison was also on the edge of her seat and I could truly tell she was moved by the stories and events. When I say moved, I don’t mean in happiness, I mean in shock and filled with so many emotions she as well as me could not wrap her heard around it. It seemed to make Allison question all she was doing and really made her debate with her crime story she was to write, who really was the one who committed the original crime? Who was the true victim?
The story progressed more emotions and a friendship was established between the two women like no other. As the book neared the big climax to me with the two in the jail cell. I honestly didn’t see it coming But perhaps Lillian was finally free from all the pain and torture she went through. She told her story. She left in good hands knowing what was next for her. She made request to Allision to do something in her life. And Allision didn’t only vow to do it, but in the books end she chose to live what she promised.
Allision wrote the story of Lillian and the murders. With the emotions and pain and suffering. She told the truth and nothing else. It was not just only the right thing to do, but its what was meant to be. The plan from the start perhaps.
Again, gripping story and made me get a thoroughly different perspective on now when I read true crime. Maybe there is inner truth to what motives that are present on people who murder? Was it the only way the people who commit these crimes can truly service justice knowing it will cost them the ultimate price in the end?
By the end leading the epic end of Lillian’s story I did not only understand why Lillian did the murders she did. I also why she felt she had to. And not just for herself, for anyone that could across these people, She truly was a heroine in her own mind, knowing she was commending herself, but she was saving others from experiencing anything close to what she had already gone through.
This author did not just only write a book that captivated my soul and heart, but it was also FREAKING amazing good. I was so lost in the words and the events, and the trauma that was endured. The friendship made between the two women was unquestionable. Though with Allision and Lillian, two different paths were set out for each of them I believe from the moment they first met. But, perhaps that was their own personal story all alone? Maybe one was already written and the other was still yet to be defined?
Loved this book. It was so amazing I am recommending this to all my true crime fanatic friends. This so good that it could easily pass for a true event true crime novel.

This psychological thriller will keep you on your toes. When Janey is 14 her older sister disappears. She had sent a postcard stating that she was fine, but then went radio silent. Where did she go? What happened to her? After eight long years that silence is broken when she gets a mysterious letter. Janey is glad to hear that her sister is alive and well until she discovers that she has once again gone missing. Where has she gone this time? Janey decides that she needs to walk in her sisters shoes in order to try and get a better understanding of what may have gone on in her sisters head. Will it work or will she be left with more questions than answers? This book kept me turning the pages with all the twists and turns. I enjoyed following along on Janeys journey to find her sister. The ending was not something I had expected and my mind is still a little blown. I highly recommend this for those that love psychological thrillers with a good twist. I can’t wait to read more of this authors work.

Jarvis Mann Private Detective is back with another case to solve, but first he has to serve papers to a cheating husband, who does not take kindly to the event, he is a minor celebrity and thinks that the world owes him, but Jarvis takes him down a couple of pegs and makes him see sense, especially when he can call multiple witnesses who can back up his side of the event. While he is staking the place out, he receives a visit from a past associate and is given some news he finds sad and distressing about a guy he worked with from time to time in the past who had been through some tragedy of his own, it turns out that he has been murdered while working on something and in a most similar fashion to another event in his life, so Jarvis takes the case on to find out what happened to him and more importantly why, so he goes to tie up some loose ends with the soon to be ex wife, packs a bag and takes a late morning flight out to San Diego so he can make a start.
He leaves the airport, rents a car and checks into his hotel, all his expenses are going to be paid, so he doesn’t have to worry about running low on money, so when he is all settled in, he heads to an appointment he has made with one of the local cops to take stock on what he knows and shares information he has, he wants to be able to work with the local law enforcement and not step on toes too much, but this cop is friendly and more than happy to work together with him on the case. The next meeting he has is with his associate’s former boss, it is purely to ask a couple of questions and double down on the information he already has, as well as to read his body language while the questions are asked and answered. The meeting goes as expected and afterwards he goes to the scene of a past crime to talk to the neighbours and see if he can glean any more information before checking in with the cop to share what he has found. This all leads to one person, but unfortunately, Jarvis and his cop friend end up encroaching on gang territory and they are not happy to see them or having them dig around in their business, however, they come out of the encounter clean and tidy, but not without a warning to stay away. Jarvis wants to talk to the leader of the gang about the reactions he saw as they were driving away, so he tries to set up a meeting to see what he can glean.
In the meantime, he has discovered that he has a tail and when he confronts the individual, it turns out that it is another Private Detective who is looking into him, but the details are sketchy and Jarvis isn’t sure he believes what he is hearing, but he doesn’t have much time to think on it when he tries to follow more leads and lands in hot water, this time, however, he doesn’t come out unscathed and is sent back to Denver in a world of hurt, but with more information than when he started. As he recovers and returns to San Diego, Jarvis is determined to discover who is behind everything, but he also realises that he may be in over his head and has to call grudgingly for reinforcements, but the ones he has to call could make things easier and harder all at the same time, but which way the pendulum will swing is anyone’s guess, but will he be able to find the answers he is seeking, or will he get caught in a crossfire which is not of his own making? This is a thrilling mystery with twists, turns, secrets and revelations throughout which will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout as you try to solve the mystery at the same time.

I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller. This is a well written story about a town that has a past and where things are not as they seem. I found this story to be fast paced which I had a hard time putting down. It is an engaging story that has twists and turns that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. The characters are connectable and brought the story to life. For me they truly made the story what it is. Janey has a sister that ran away eight years ago, just when she thinks she finds her, she disappears again. This is where the story becomes a little twisted. Janey decides to walk in her sister’s footsteps. What will she find out as she does this? I really did enjoy this book and highly recommend it.

The Third Nanny by Michele Pariza Wacek is described in the description as a ‘Twisted Psychological Thriller, and I would say that this description is spot on!
After receiving a letter from her sister who disappeared years before, Janey sets out to discover what actually happened to her. Whilst retracing her sister’s footsteps and taking a job as a nanny in the place she last knew her sister was working, Janey discovers new clues and unearths secret after secret. As expected, all is not as it seems.
For a psychological thriller, I found this book really easy to read. The story moves at a fast pace but is easy to keep up with, and there are lots of twists and turns along the way to keep you hooked. I spent the whole book thinking I knew how it would end…well, I may have changed my mind a few times! I was completely wrong though. If you like suspense and surprises, you will love this book.

This book is very much one-of-a-kind. While you can’t justify murder the story truly pulls at your heartstrings. Allison and Lillian are kindred spirits, and one could easily be the other. The story is woven so intricately that you wonder where one begins and the other ends. It’s very obvious that’s why Lillian chose Allison, and why she knew her story would be portrayed exactly as it needed to be. A true crime Writer and a woman convicted of murder. Watching the story unfold you can’t help but wonder and feel what ifs, the why and what the future will be.

Lillian Ross is in jail for the murders of two people, one of them being her father. When Allison is approached by Lillian herself to write her story from her perspective, Allison jumps at the chance. As Allison continues to visit Lillian in jail and compose her book, she starts to see things from Lilian’s perspective and starts to realize that Lillian may have been just another innocent victim.
The cover on this novel is utterly eye-catching, and I’m always up for reading a book about a serial killer (fictional or not), so I was intrigued by Sirena Van Schaik’s “The Murders of Lillian Ross”. The story is told from the perspective of Allison primarily, although we do get a front-row seat to Lillian’s perspective as well, when she takes over the narration for brief snippets. Both Allison and Lillian are very interesting characters, as they share a familiar background and family history (with which they bond over), yet they both have had very different outcomes.
Although I am grateful that Van Schaik included Lillian’s perspective, the physical and sexual abuse of Lillian by her father (and her future clients) is detailed quite extensively. Lillian is called a variety of demeaning and graphic words by others in her life, and she almost always refers to herself as a “stupid bitch”. It is obvious that this is done to help readers have sympathy for Lillian and develop a rapport with her, but it does not make for an easy read. The author could have reduced some of these details, as I felt the point was well made without the extraneous language, gore and abuse depictions.
As mentioned, this novel is not an easy read. There are no positive relationships in this novel, and nearly all of the men are depicted as cruel, aggressive and unkind. Although I can see how someone like Lillian would view the world that way, it would have been nice to have one or two positive and uplifting characters in the novel to break up the horror and evil (the one attempt with Allison’s love interest was not focused on enough to make a difference).
The ending of the novel is bittersweet and heartbreaking, but it provides a solid resolution. After bonding with Lillian, it was painful to see the novel end in this way, but it paints a realistic picture, and a happy ending would have not have been believable. “The Murders of Lillian Ross” is dark and gritty, but the characters are well developed. I would have liked better executed writing, and there were a few grammatical errors, but not enough to detract from the flow of the story.

Author Sirena paints a vivid picture in the telling of this story. I enjoyed reading this book as it is a gripping story. The ending was shocking, however I should have seen it coming. Lillian Ross is serving a death sentence for two murders that she committed. Over the years, all of the stories that came out about her and the circumstances have been filled with half truths. She is now ready for the real story to emerge, and asks for it to be written by Allison McKinnon, an author for the victims. This story provides insight to unfortunate and real aspects that some people face in life, abuse. As a survivor myself, although nowhere near the events in the book, I found that this provided a message of hope through tragedy. Each decision we make, and don’t make, has consequences. How we handle these outcomes is the challenge, for most, and sometimes that challenge becomes lost hope. However, learning and bonding with others is one way to fight the demons, as long as the demons haven’t destroyed you completely. Lillian and Allison build a silent bond, based off of these demons, but yet each woman’s story has a different ending! I enjoyed reading the story of these women and taking some of their strength to be able to deal with my own demons!

Samantha Wycroff is a woman in her the middle of her life, she is a mum, she attends a monthly book club, she knits hats for local charities and volunteers at the church as part of the choir, but one day she gets a phone call from the police telling her that her son is in the local hospital and is going into surgery, she finds out that he has been severely beaten and the injuries are worse than originally thought, so as she waits for him to wake up, she spends all her time at the hospital. After a few days it is clear that her son isn’t going to wake up, so she makes the hardest decision in her life to turn off his life support, she is devastated and feels alone, but she isn’t as her son’s friends lend her their support in the aftermath, the police have not found enough definitive evidence to garner a conviction, however, Samantha is sure it was his girlfriend Velvet Flores who did it and she swears that she will get her revenge.
As the days pass between the death of her son and his funeral, she spends more time with one childhood friend of her sons Micah Kerrick, he has been alternating between staying in her spare room and at his own home and has been a rock of support for Samantha, she has told him about her suspicions and what she believes happens and Micah surprisingly offers a possible solution. He offers her his help, however in return she has to join his team, The Misfits, all she knows is that he works for the government, but other than that, she is clueless apart from the fact that they are troubleshooters, but he is sure that she would be the perfect least likely suspect.
Samantha thinks it over, meanwhile Micah reminds her of a couple of attainable dreams which she can start working on while she makes her decision, but she feels too old, too unfit and too out of practice to even think about it, but she does agree to try the things she may have to do in order to join up. Will she make the decision to join Micah’s team and work her way towards the revenge she desperately craves, or will she just revert back to the lonely church going widow who spends her time knitting and singing until she joins her family in the afterlife? This is a story which takes you on a journey of grief, love, acceptance and revenge as you follow one woman as she figures out what her future will be and who will be in it.
This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by him. This is the eighth book in the series and it is just as awesome as the previous books. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to help your enhancement of Javis Mann. This is a well written story that pulled me in from the beginning. This is a fast paced story that is full of action that kept me turning pages to the end. The characters are connectable and brought the story to life. My favorite is Jarvis. The is a strong, determined character that makes the story fun and entertaining to read. He is back on another case that could just be his last. I won’t say much more as I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens to him. This is a must read book and an author you will love.

Revenge (Least Likely Suspect Book 1) by Cooper McKenzie is one of the beat crime books that I have ever read. This book had me intrigued the minute I read the synopsis and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Every mother will do whatever they have to for their child, even if it means seeking justice or maybe revenge right? Cooper McKenzie captured the raw feeling that a mother has when she loses her child, it’s a very relatable story, with a plot line that will make you angry, sad, and keep you guessing until the very end. Her characters are amazing, the story was perfectly developed, and left this reader wanting more. Personally I can’t wait to read the next installment.

Ms. Cooper is a great author I have read a few of her books before. As a mother and grandmother, I could relate to the main character. This story was captivating and I couldn’t put it down.
With Samantha grieving and struggling with her loss she finds out her son’s girlfriend had a hand in his death. Will she extract revenge on the girlfriend?

The Murders of Lillian Ross had me engrossed from the first page. Written brilliantly by Sirena Van Schaik. A crime novel that sucked me in and made me want to scream alongside the protagonist, Allison. Lillian approaches Allison, a true-crime writer to tell her story, normally Allison writes stories from the perspective of the victim to give them a voice, but why has Lillian, the perpetrator, approached her? Every character was believable, the writing was excellent. I wanted more and I will look for more written by Sirena. Five Stars. I may just hunker back down and read it again tonight, it was that good.

This is a gripping story which had me hooked from the first line and I literally could not put this book down. In order for retired school teacher Samantha Wycoff to get justice for the murder of her son Thomas she must do the unthinkable. Samantha knows that Thomas’s girlfriend Velvet is guilty of her sons murder but as she has an alibi, although a fake one and there were no witnesses the police and the courts can not do anything. Then a childhood friend of her sons Micah Kerrick offers to help her but in return she must join his team of government troubleshooters. After all a church going retired schoolteacher who does voluntary work is never going to be suspected of any crime. As Samantha decides whether to join Micah’s Misfits in order to gain justice for Thomas, in the background Micah’s handler is not so happy with this unusual agreement and she could find herself in danger of being terminated. The exciting storyline had me happily turning the pages of this novel and the plot twist kept me guessing until the end. I felt engaged with the characters especially Samantha and this helped me feel immersed in her story and I really felt her need to get justice for her son. This book stayed with me after I had finished reading it which to me is a sign of a great read.

Thomas, had never recovered and a mother will do anything for justice right. Now let the story start Thomas’s mam had to let him go. This got my crying so bad so get your tissue ready. Samtaha believe his girlfriend was the one who cause her son death she is so detrimed to find out the truth it is admiral. The way Cooper puts across her scene make you see through the mothers eyes of how to deal with loss and suffering. This book takes you on such an emotional ride.

Cooper McKenzie crafted the perfect story pertaining to every mother’s nightmare. Least Likely Suspect: Revenge, narrated by Samantha Wycoff and her need to seek vengeance for her son’s death. Depressed after the death of her husband, Samantha received a call from the police stating that her son had been beaten and was in critical condition at a hospital. Samantha spends a week at the hospital before she reluctantly has Thomas taken off of life support. After hearing what had been witnessed by neighbors, Samantha knows that Velvet Flores, Thomas’s girlfriend, was guilty of her son’s death. She tried reasoning with police, stating that Thomas had been hospitalized before due to Velvet’s violence. Unfortunately, Velvet has an alibi, and police don’t pursue the case. During Thomas’s funeral, Samantha encounters Micah, an older friend of Thomas’s that had been like a second son to her. After telling Micah about the circumstances for her son’s death, Micah assures he will help in avenging Thomas’s death. At first, when I read the feelings that Samantha felt around Micah, I suspected that there was a possibility of a romance mixed in. I was completely wrong. I also found it odd how the police didn’t take into account that Velvet had previously injured Thomas, did not attend the funeral and moved in another man in the house that she shared with Thomas. Those all seem suspicious indications to me. I connected with Samantha easily, because I know I would kill somebody over my children. I can’t imagine the amount of grief that she had balled up inside her after losing her husband to cancer and three years later her 24-year-old son. This is a 5-star book that dives into mystery, self-discovery, depression, and overcoming impossible odds. Does Samantha kill Velvet? Does the justice system deal with the consequences of Samantha’s actions or Velvet? Pick up this Least Likely Suspect: Revenge by Cooper McKenzie to find out.

Why have I not ever read anything by this author before this? A problem I need to fix immediately. This book was awesome!!! Perfect flow, just the right amount of back stories, just the right amount of details, just the right amount of everything. I picked this up and literally could not put it down till I finished. Which meant I carried my kindle around doing whatever adulting I needed to do while still reading. OMG I loved MaMa Sam!!! I connected with her immediately and felt her every thought, felt her every emotion, and truly felt like I was right there with her as she made decisions in this book. I want so much more of these misfits, Micah is now one of my favorite characters ever, and the best part is that it’s for so many different reasons then most of my favorite male characters. The whole story was emotional, but at the end I was bawling, so while she couldn’t drive because of tears, I couldn’t read because of the same!
I can not wait for more!!! I loved every single thing about this book!!! I already want to read it again 🙂

Mann in the Crossfire is the seventh book in the Jarvis Mann Detective series by R. Weir. I absolutely love this series and have followed it right from the beginning. I thought the last book was the best of the bunch, but Mr. Weir upped the ante with this story, making it my favourite, so far. The series really does get better and better with each new instalment. The ending of this book gave me a few heart palpitations though- please don’t let this be the last we hear from Jarvis Mann!!! Mr. Weir, Jarvis (and I) neeeeed more instalments (hint, hint 😊)!!! As with the rest of the series, this is a gripping hardboiled detective mystery- Jarvis being a PI means there’s never a dull moment. With murder, crime and investigation, danger, hidden agendas, gangs, drama, adventure, action, violence, quips, multi-layers, and complex characters- all wrapped up with a bit of a noir detective story feel. Bring on Book #8 (pretttty pleasssse)!

The Murders of Lillian Ross by Sirena Van Schaik is just Wow. I love true crime shows on tv and have always wanted to get into the mind of a killer just to find out how they tick. This story is a winner in my book. Sirena does not skimp on the details of darker things like murder and how a murderer thinks, and it makes for a thrilling and engrossing read. I love the way Sirena writes and weaves all the threads so intricately and seamlessly that she gives you a gripping tale. It is written so well written that I had to check to see if this was a real-life account of a real murder. It isn’t but my god it feels like it. I was so captivated that once I had started this book, I could not put it down until I had read all the way through.

I loved this story and the concept of it as well.I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book in the series and I can’t wait to read more.
