Hate to Love You (Baker’s Bunch Book 1) by Lily Ryan – Review by Jana Teppih

Hate to Love You (Baker's Bunch Book 1)Hate to Love You by Lily Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hate to Love You is the first book in Lily Ryan’s Baker’s Bunch Book. It is a young adult story of the pain of growing up … it is a hot mess overloaded with emotions and knee jerk reactions and it is not surprising, it is for young adults so if you are of my age and you found yourself reading it, tone down your criticism and look at it through the eyes of the young ones. Growing up is not a party though at times it seems so to us who are on the fringes and we look at the popular crowd!
Hate to Love You is a forbidden love story of Samantha ‘Sam’ Stone and Cole Andrews. Cole is Sam’s brother’s best friend so you can imagine why it is a forbidden love story! Things happen and both give in to their feelings for one night … what happens then? The writer gives us the story from both Sam’s and Cole’s point of view so we have the front row seat to their angst, I mean their feelings … it is a rollercoaster ride and most of us can relate to it for sure! As it is the first book in the series, I wonder who the next one is …

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce – Review by Jana Teppih

ShortcutsShortcuts by Amy Bearce
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce is a perfect novel for young readers! It is a story of four best friends – Parker, Avery, DeShawn and Ethan. They all have psychic powers because their mothers were given a certain fertility drug. They all have developed different abilities that I can imagine the young readers would find very cool!
The story is told from Parker’s point of view, she is our resident empath! She is brash and bold and honest and caring and energetic … Avery is the PERFECT best friend ever … DeShawn is calm and wise and a young man with a golden heart … Ethan is our mischievous young rebel … and then we have Mia, a sweet and sad and complicated new girl, and Josh who is another new boy that brings his complications …
This story that I think would be a perfect reading early tween and teen set, tells us the story of friendships, family relationships, the power of social standing and the realities you must face when you hurt the people you love, even if you did not mean it to happen … it tells us a story of what the consequences of shortcuts are and that actually, there are no shortcuts in life as every action has a counter action … it shows us that everyone carries a burden and everyone deserves to have friends and to be loved! There are a loads of lessons that if you are open you might be able to learn by reading the book and not needing to experience them in person!

After Hurricane Nina, Rand’s Resolution (Hot Hunks-Steamy Romance Collection Book 8) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Jana Teppih

After Hurricane Nina, Rand's Resolution (Hot Hunks-Steamy Romance Collection)After Hurricane Nina, Rand’s Resolution by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After Hurricane Nina, Rand’s Resolution by Tamara Ferguson is part of the Hot Hunks – Steamy Romance Collection, a collection of eight standalone stories of a life changing event. I have read every single one of Tamara’s book so I was very happy to discover another one of her Crystal Rock/Dragonfly Pointe stories! I promise you that you will fall in love with her writing and will go looking for the other stories in the Crystal Rock universe!
After Hurricane Nina, Rand’s Resolution is filled with suspense, action, secrets, intrigue, terrorists, tension, chemistry … and romance! We meet Rand and Ciara who met on a beach in Crystal Rock when they were 15 and 13 years old respectively. Thirteen years passes before they meet again, on Bali… on the surface Rand seems to be the opposite of what Ciara remembers, the reality is something completely different! The sparks fly, the passion ignites, the storms hit and the bombs blow …
It is a very quick read and if you have read her other books, you get even more pleasure out it! Of course you could say that it is a too simple of a story as it all feels so predictable but I would say why not! Sometimes we need something simple and sweet with a little bit of a twist on top of it! I cannot wait for the next story in her Crystal Rock universe and it seems that we are getting Emma and Nick next, yey!

Next Door Knight (Man’s Best Friend Book 2) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Jana Teppih

Next Door Knight (Man's Best Friend #2)Next Door Knight by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Next Door Knight is the second book in Nicole Flockton’s Man’s Best Friend series. It is a beautifully crafted story of second chances at life. I read it as a standalone and I didn’t miss not having read the first book. I want to read the first book though as I would like to know Isabella and Ethan’s story.
Next Door Knight is the story of Caleb Bradshaw, a K9 airman on medical leave, and Kerry Williams, learning to live again after being grinded to the ground by her ex – next door neighbours and each with their own baggage, and let’s not forget about Kerry’s therapy dog Willow who at times steals the show! Yes, it is a love story but in its true essence it is a story of letting go and starting to heal. I loved how deep the writer took us into the depth of the emotional trauma that the soldiers go through when in the combat, the toll that their struggle takes on themselves and their families … I admire the way the writer handles the fragility that the ones surviving an abusive relationship starts rebuilding their life … and to top it all off, giving us Caleb and Kerry’s stories from their point of view, the writer lets us to see deep into the characters and their struggle.
I am looking forward to discovering more in the series and will go and pick up book one now! Here we go Isabella and Ethan!

Abandoned by Love: Book 1 in the Shattered Hearts Duet by Aleya Michelle – Review by Jana Teppih

Abandoned by Love (Shattered Hearts Duet, #1)Abandoned by Love by Aleya Michelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Abandoned by Love is the opening to Aleya Michelle’s Shattered Hearts Duet. It will shatter your heart … it will leave you broken and crying and in the dark … it will make you understand how one moment in time, one simple decision, can change your life irrevocably … Abandoned by Love is the story of a life altering choice that changes the lives of everyone involved.
Jaxon Mayer and Emily Saunders are childhood sweethearts. They are insanely happy and have a bright future ahead of them. They seemed to be living a charmed life and then, one decision, rips their lives apart. I love how the story moves between past and present; I love how it is told from different point of views.
It is a story of how we deal with the life altering events. It is a test that shows us what we are made of and how we go towards our future from that point onward. We need to remember that Jaxon and Emily are young, very young and it is the first test that the life is throwing at them and the Shattered Hearts duet is their journey. I am looking forward to finding how where their journey will take them to!

The Reason Why by Izzibella Beau – Review by Jana Teppih

The Reason Why: Breathless SeriesThe Reason Why: Breathless Series by Izzibella Beau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Reason Why by Izzibella Beau is a story that will stop you in your tracks and make you think and feel. It is a story of life having been upended, a story of growing up and a story of hard choices. It is not the first book I have read by this writer and I think she is a great YA writer that I would recommend to any of high schoolers and teenagers struggling with finding their way.
Alabama’s life has always been close to the edge thanks to her mother’s actions and it culminates with her mom ending up locked up so she gets sent to her mom’s best friend from high school who has 2 sons, Joshua and Hunter. You can only imagine how life might be with them … one of them becomes the best friend and the other one seems to be ignoring her … I believe many of us who are older than the target audience, can still remember the angst and pain and hope and the first love …
I promise that you will cry and laugh and it all feels real and you keep your fingers crossed and hope that everyone finds their happiness. And add to this music and you have a movie running in your mind’s eye. I wish you many pleasurable hours while following in Alabama, Hunter and Joshua’s footsteps!

Garrett (Dark Water Security Book 2) by Madison Quinn – Review by Jana Teppih

Garrett (Dark Water Security #2)Garrett by Madison Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Garrett is the second book on Madison Quinn’s Dark Water Security series. Madison Quinn gave us an earth shaking opening with Luke and she continues strong in Garrett. Garrett is not as intense as Luke but in no way are we disappointed with him! We could see the promise of him in the first book, considering how brief his appearance was, it does tell you something!
Garrett’s assignment is working personal security for a tech mogul and he needs to live on site. This live in comes with a surprise though – never ever did he imagine that he would come face to face with ‘the one who got away’. Hope disappeared from his bed after an unforgettable night and leaving Garrett with nothing but a memory …
In some ways we have sort of two stories in one – we have the mystery of what happened that night and what happened to Hope and then this bodyguard gig and the danger to the tech mogul. The writer is very good at building up the suspense and yes, at times it feels as if the story is moving a bit too slow but the way how the story is told, you do not dare to put the book down as you need to know who where what how why …
I cannot wait to see what the writer will give us next as every single one of the Dark Water Security team members deserves a story!

Vantage Point (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 4) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jana Teppih

Vantage Point (Gray Ghost #4)Vantage Point by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Vantage Point is the fourth book in Amy McKinley’s Gray Ghost series! It is a military romantic suspense story so if you are fan of the genre then this series is for you! You could read this book as a standalone as it is a story in its own rights but you will be meeting the characters from the previous books so knowing their stories will add to your enjoyment.
Vantage Point is the story of Hawk Ares, the quietest member of the Gray Ghost team, and Stella Klein, his red headed neighbour. There are layers to Hawk and him being quiet does not mean he is not a true Alpha! And as an Alpha with his sassy neighbour in trouble, he takes the challenge on! He is haunted by his past and keeps his relationships simple and with no strings, she is a woman who considers the family the most important and her reality is clashing with it as her brother brings arguments and tension into her life … Throw them together and you get a story that leaves you at the edge of your seat until the end.
I am looking forward to enjoying more of the Gray Ghost team adventures and hopefully the writer will be adding to the team (as currently it is the four Alphas and each of them have already gotten their story!).

Hell On Heels (PJ Santini Series Book 1) by Lynne Russell – Review by Jana Teppih

Hell On Heels (PJ Santini Series Book 1)Hell On Heels by Lynne Russell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hell On Heels is the opening chapter of Lynne Russell’ PJ Santini series. We meet PJ Santini, her crazy Sicilian!!! family, best friend Vicky and two hot guys of her life! Man … how does she find them?! Daly and Renza … I could not choose either … how does one choose between ice cream and cake? Can one have them at the same time???
PJ is a TV news reporter and a PI; she is witty, independent and stubborn like heck! She is like a dog with a bone, once she has an assignment, she will find an answer, even if it might be a bit dangerous for her health (get my drift??). You will find yourself on the edge of your seat and biting your nails and other times you are cracking up so loud that if you are in the public, you get those stares (know what I am talking about, right?).
If you are looking for a mix of hilarious and crime then this series is for you! I have the next book in the series already waiting for me on my e-reader!

Seraphina’s Revolution (The Seraphina Series Book 4) by Sheena Hutchinson – Review by Jana Teppih

Seraphina's Revolution (Seraphina #4)Seraphina’s Revolution by Sheena Hutchinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seraphina’s Revolution is the fourth book and the closing chapter of Sheena Hutchinson’s Seraphina series. What a journey it has been! It is a bit of bitter sweet to bid Seraphina and Nate and the guardians but the writer gives us such a great conclusion that you will walk away while listing the series among the other great paranormal ones! Just to warn you, the series MUST be read in order, none of this I-will-read-a-bit-here-and-there!
The writer has given us the battle between the good and the evil out there in the world and the battle inside of us and that is just one of the reasons why this series is so memorable! Add to this all these angelic and demonic characters that are not your garden variety and you cannot go wrong!

Flirty Dancing: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles, Book 3) by J.D. Frettier – Review by Jana Teppih

Flirty DancingFlirty Dancing by J.D. Frettier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flirty Dancing is the 3rd instalment in J.D Frettier’s Green Room Chronicles series. If you are looking for funny spicy novellas set in the afterlife then this series is for sure for you! You will cackle like a witch and roll your eyes and hope that there will be more instalments and that there will be many more stories telling the stories of the Green Room residents! And by the way, you should really read the stories in their rightful order to really get the maximum out of them!
When you know that this is a story about afterlife and the title says “Flirty dancing”, what kind of dancing pops into your head? In mine, all those funky pole dancing videos from YouTube! And yes, you would be right; we have Kitty Eating, a pole dancing mother who is led to the Green Room by, surprise surprise, by our friend Grim Reaper! The characters from the previous stories are meeting her and help her to adjust to her new reality.
I mean, yes, all the stories are funny, still, they all start with the main character dying and how they struggle with truly understanding they are dead … while reading Kitty’s story I was thinking in my head “I wonder what I would be feeling and thinking”…
It is a quick read so if you need some pick me up then go for it!

Devil’s Backbone (Wild Beasts Series Book 5) by T. Birmingham – Review by Jana Teppih

Devil's Backbone (Wild Beasts Series Book 5)Devil’s Backbone by T. Birmingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Devil’s Backbone is the fifth book in T. Birmingham’s Wild Beast series that is filled with action, danger, mystery, suspense, magic … everything that one superb paranormal romance needs to have! I know that some say that you could read each book as a standalone but I have read them in the order and as you meet the leads of different books again in the other ones, there is a lot of backstory and information that is in each of the books (not repeating) then it is in your own best interest to be familiar with them to fully enjoy the series!
Devil’s Backbone is the story of Tess Thompson, our shut down kind and caring Tess who also has a unique genetic traits, and Benjamin Oliver, our ultimate protector! Like all the other books, Devil’s Backbone is so multi-layered and intricate so you better really pay attention as the story is intense and the writer goes straight to the point! I was rooting for Tess and Ben from the first moment and I was wishing for a happy ending but nothing comes easy so be prepared for one heck of a ride! I am really happy that there will be more stories in this mindbending series!

Pandora’s Price (Hart & Cole Book 3) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné – Review by Jana Teppih

Pandora's Price (Hart & Cole Book 3)Pandora’s Price by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Pandora’s Price by Sacha T. Y. Fortune is the closing of Louisa and Darren’s story and the third book in her Hart & Cole series. Quoting the writer “This is NOT a glossy love story. But if you’re looking for a romance read that will rattle you… characters that will change you… and love that will last in your mind long after you’re finished… THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.” She hit the nail right on the head! It is not your usual off-the-mill love story! The writer drags you through ups and downs and twists and turns and you hate people and they you forgive them and then you get upset with them and then you fall so deeply in love with them that you are not able to fall out of love with them when they upset you again!
As I said then this is the closing of Louisa and Darren’s story, we will live along with them and we are pushed to the point of the destruction! We stay with them when we all wonder if they are able to pull everything back together and whether they will find a way into a future while making the broken hearts whole again …
Fortunately it is the end of the series as there is so much potential and quite a few characters that are screaming for their own stories and we already know who are next in the line!

A Person Could Disappear Here by Terri George – Review by Jana Teppih

A Person Could Disappear HereA Person Could Disappear Here by Terri George
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Person Could Disappear Here by Terry George is a mind bending read in a sense that it feels so real that you feel chills running down your spine … it is an emotional story that tells us a story how far we might go in search of a perfect partner … it is scary … it reminds me of those many stories we have seen in the news and been horrified by … It is also a story of faith and hope and courage …
We have Abbey who comes all the way from the UK to meet with the guy she has met online … Jensen … he seems so perfect … and he is so skilled at playing her! You can imagine what happens next … And then there is Cristina, Abbey’s best friend since they were five years old! Best friends never give up! She knows something has happened to Abbey so she grabs her brother and they head to the US to find Abbey!
The writer tells us majority of the story through Abbey’s journal entries and that makes it even more real, it makes you to start thinking what it means to have no control over your life, your body … no way out … what would you do in Abbey’s shoes?

Knights Who Won My Heart (Knights Series Book 4) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Jana Teppih

Knights Who Won My Heart (Knights, #4)Knights Who Won My Heart by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Knights Who Won My Heart is the fourth book and the closing act of Sonya Jesus’ Knights series! We are going out with a bang! I promise you will be sitting at the edge of your seat and biting your nails when following Lia and co to the end. You cannot read this book as a standalone, clearly you would be completely lost so do yourself a favour and start from the beginning and I guarantee you will enjoy hours upon hours some good storytelling!
You would think that as we are now at the fourth and final book that maybe the writer would be using it as to conclude on the story but heck no! It is filled with mystery, danger, angst, violence, obsession, romance and … twists so hold your horses and go chapter by chapter!
I have heard rumours that the writer is working on a spinoff series called “The Soccer Gods” and considering how she finished this series, it has earned a spot on my TBR list!

An Appointment (Summer in New York Book 4) by Lindsay Marie Miller – Review by Jana Teppih

An Appointment (Summer in New York, #4)An Appointment by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An Appointment is the fourth book in Lindsay Marie Miller’s Summer in New York series. I have read EVERY SINGLE one of them! The stories can be read as a standalone but it is great to read them in the order as they are connected through the characters! Our Savannah Taylor, the divorced mother of a young boy is the daughter of Austin and Amy from book #2 (and niece of Claire and Benjamin from book #1). Savannah is not doing too well, the divorce has left her hurt and she feels like life is serving a curveball after curveball and she is barely managing to hold on … enters Dr Preston Cole, a paediatrician who is taking over from his father and who is treating Savannah’s son Trey. He has his own turbulent past, his wife left him for a surgeon and while doing it, broke his heart and his bank account … Both of them have sworn not to love again, not to marry again … and their paths collide …
An Appointment is a contemporary romance filled with drama, angst, frustration, loads of misunderstandings, mystery, emotions … and second chances! At times all of the angst and drama became too much … I get that Savannah was drowning in stress but her jumping into conclusions … well … who knows … I suggest you pick up the whole series and spend hours and hours with characters that don’t leave you cold!

A Wicked Earl’s Widow (Once Upon A Widow Book 2) by Aubrey Wynne – Review by Jana Teppih

The Wicked Earl's WidowThe Wicked Earl’s Widow by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Wicked Earl’s Widow is the second book in Aubrey Wynne’s Once Upon A Widow series. It can be read as a standalone even though it is part of a series, it is series of similar storylines and not of characters. I have read couple of other of her books, contemporary and historical, and I liked her way of writing … the beautiful way of sharing her characters with us … the emotions her stories awaken in us …
The Wicked Earl’s Widow is a fairly quick historical read that gives us loads of historical and cultural details of how it was to be a woman in that era … how it was to be a widow under the protection of your in-laws and still being threatened by your abusive father … how you are ‘owned’ by your father first and then by your husband and … how no one can help the wives and daughter who are physically and emotionally abused …
Aubrey is giving us a widow Eliza who is also a mother of a young daughter who so easily is being used to force her to submit to her abusive father’s demands, and Nathan, a young Viscount of Pendleton, a hard working young man with the heart that makes you to believe in fairy tales! It is a beautiful story of growing friendship, respect and love … it is a story of finding one’s strength and fighting for the future!

Home Is Where the Heart Is (The Wilder Sister Series Book 1-5) by Melissa Keir – Review by Jana Teppih

Home Is Where the Heart Is: The Wilder SistersHome Is Where the Heart Is: The Wilder Sisters by Melissa Keir
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Home Is Where the Heart Is by Melissa Keir gives us the stories of five Wilder Sisters! It is a great set of ALL the novellas in the series! I had read another novella by the writer so I hoped I knew what a treat she would be giving us AND I was correct! Each of the novellas takes you on an emotional journey and I loved how they remind us of the importance of family! It does not matter what you have done, why you have done it, who you are … your family will stand with you and love you and I know every one of us who reads the series wishes for a family like Wilders! Every one of the Wilder sister’s has their own struggle and the writer shares with us how they grow through them!
The stories are well written and this feeling-good that you feel after finishing them, you will carry it with you for a while! Believe in it! Enjoy it! Embrace it! Act upon it!

Back in the Ring (The Predator Series Book 4) by Brooke May – Review by Jana Teppih

Back in the RingBack in the Ring by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Back in the Ring is the fourth book in Brooke May’s The Predator Series. I had not read the first three books and Back in the Ring is my first read by this writer BUT it will NOT be the last one! I will need to go back and start from the beginning … I know that the Predator appeared in this book for 5 seconds (or so) and you can read every story in the series as a standalone … alas, I have learnt that you definitely get more enjoyment out of books in a series when you read the whole series.
Back in the Ring is the story of Bijou Augustine, a widow who lives in a small town with her young daughter and runs a youth centre that was her husband’s dream, and of Noah Stone, a grieving man that lost his wife a year earlier and has escaped to this small town with his toddler son. Bijou is what you see – hard working, passionate, working hard on keeping her husband’s legacy alive … and in this declining economy not doing too well … Noah is a different story, he looks like a mountain man with the weight of the world on his shoulders … he harbours secrets tough and you will want to ride a long on their journey to a future …
It was a great story with well-developed characters, I absolutely loved the children – they added realism and cuteness to the story! And I wish I had a best friend like Bijou had … every woman needs their own Mara! I cannot wait to see what the writer brings next to the table!

Immortal Desires Anthology – Review by Jana Teppih

Immortal DesiresImmortal Desires by Melanie James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Immortal Desires is a collection of Paranormal Romances written by various authors! There is something for EVERYONE! I love reading anthologies as they give you a glimpse into the universe that the writer has created and when you love in love with it then you have the rest of the books in the series to dive into!
I want to point out a few of my favourites – I absolutely love shifter stories so Alpha at Home by D.J. Bryce that is the opening to her Brothers of the Heart series and Alpha Undercover by Heather Hildebrand were the ones that I went after and if you are like me, you will get a total kick out of them and you will be reaching for the other stories in the series. And then I discovered For Heaven’s Sake by Nicole Garcia that took a bit of a different approach to werewolf shifters mixing with humans!
Spell Hell by N.L. Hoffmann was another one that anyone who loves a good story that involves witches, vampires and killings that need to be figured out! It is an enjoyable short read so you don’t have to wait too long to find out who when and why!
Vengeance Marked by S.J. Pierce was a short story that grabbed me from the first page, it gave me chills and I could not wait to get into finding out were the writer was going to take us and I tell you, that was one heck of a journey and it was not meant for the ones faint at heart!
Flirty Dancing by Jennifer Theriot writing as J.D. Frettier was another one that I still remember and knowing that it is part of a series means that there are couple of other books to pick up! I know she says you can read Flirty Dancing as a standalone but I have noticed over years that one really should start from the beginning as you will have the backstory then! It is amazing how such a short story runs a gamut of emotions ranging from sadness to love …

Little Do You Know (Bayou Devils MC 5) by A.M. Myers – Review by Jana Teppih

Little Do You Know (Bayou Devils MC 5)Little Do You Know by A.M. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Little Do You Know is the fifth story in A.M. Myers’ Bayou Devils MC series! I have been waiting for it for a while as after reading the first story in the series I have been hooked on Bayou Devils MC! I love MC genre and Bayou Devils MC is definitely one of the ones to follow ardently!
Little Do You Know is the story of Noah and Kady and what was most surprising is that in no way did the writer take us into the direction that I had been expecting! She gave us heartbreak and deep love and secrets and family and … At times I was crying so hard that I could barely see … at times I was so anxious that I wanted to jump ahead and see what happens so that I could just sit back and enjoy the ride … It was great to meet up with the gang from the first four books and Noah and Kady’s story just added their own little sparkle to the Bayou Devils’ MC/family story! If you have not read the other stories then I KNOW you will go and start from the beginning after having finished Noah and Kady’s story! Enjoy the ride AND I cannot wait for book six which is supposed to come out in May!

The Protector: MAC (Cover Six Security, Book 1) by Lisa B. Kamps – Review by Jana Teppih

The Protector: MACThe Protector: MAC by Lisa B. Kamps
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Protector: Mac is the first full book in Lisa B. Kamps’ new series called Cover Six Security! I have read other of her series so I knew that whatever direction she has decided to take us into, it would be smashing! And it was! I had not read the real introduction to the series, the novella where we meet first our Tabitha “TR” Meyers and Gordon “Mac” MacGregor so I know I need to go back to it as apparently it gives us even more of the backstory!
The Protector: Mac is filled with suspense, intrigue and action … it is twisted and distorted and at time you have to take a moment and think “WTH!” and then … it all comes together! I loved how the writer had added another point of view in addition to Mac and TR …. wait for it …. the bad guy! It added a whole another layer to the atmosphere! I cannot wait for all the other guys in the Cover Six Security to get their own stories and I hope that we will also get a bit more of Mac and TR as they are part of the gang AND (not giving it away), TR is also changing careers!

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads, #1) by Kim Koby – Review by Jana Teppih

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads, #1)The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Billionaire and the Therapist is the first book in Kim Koby’s Clean Billionaire Romance Reads. It is not the first book I have read by this writer so I decided to pick up a copy to get out of my funk … I needed to read something Happily Ever After, something sweet … I did feel at times that it was too short and there was a lot that the writer could have delved deeper into and left the door closed … I also felt that the billionaire lifestyle aspect fell a bit short when I compare it to some of the other billionaire stories I have read but in reality, who really knows how it all looks like … not me!
The Billionaire and the Therapist the story of John Callahan who has lost his wife and his seven year old daughter Catherine has stopped speaking. Enters Natalie Ross, a speech therapist, who has her own bag of demons. They grow closer and closer while Natalie is working with Catherine and they come to the point where they both need to face their past…
Pick up a copy if you are looking for an easy pick-me-up story and I already checked out that one of John’s brothers is getting his own story! (I wonder if we end up with all five, I would definitely not mind!)

WTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michelle N. Onuorah – Review by Jana Teppih

WTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of TransitionWTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michelle N. Onuorah
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

WTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michelle N Onuorah is a book that will provide a lot of inspiration to the ones who feel they are in transition in their belief … it is a true and heart felt story that takes you through a period of one’s life, from the deepest dark to the light. It is a story of faith and the power of prayer and belief. The writer was very upfront and didn’t wrap it up in glitter and glam … a struggle is a struggle … an addiction is an addiction … and it comes down to how you found your way through it all … what you believe and whether you are open to hear the answers around you. I am not a Christian and I picked the book up to see if I could ‘translate’ her story into a journey into spirituality and for sure, there are similarities though I still think that this book is really for Christians. I am sure it will help people with the next step in their lives and especially it might help some of the younger ones who have gotten lost in their lives.

Coming Home: The Sequel to Flowers in December by Jane Suen – Review by Jana Teppih

COMING HOME (Flowers in December, #2)COMING HOME by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Coming Home is the second book in Jane Suen’s Flowers in December series! I was delighted to meet up with Connor, Tom (the orange tabby of Connor’s diseased mother) … and Mary Ann! Is it going to be the second chance for Connor who is still grieving his mother … The writer has given us a story filled with hope and healing and forgiveness … it is also a story of possibility of a Christmas miracle! I read the story when the holiday season was long gone and the writer’s words took me back to the holiday season when everyone hopes for something special (and someone special)! And you should read the first book before you jump into this one; you will enjoy the ride much more! The writer gives us also the delight of meeting Ron and Norma and Alana again … Close your eyes and you will wonder down the streets of the town with them while getting lost in your imagination! (I pictured the small town in California that I lived in for some years when picturing the small town that the writer has brought us to!) I wonder what will come next …

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray #1) by Keith Nixon – Review by Jana Teppih

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves is the opening chapter of Keith Nixon’s Detective Solomon Gray series. It is an opening that will haunt you for days and makes you to reach for the next story in the series. I love series where there is one red line that runs through all the books while each book has its own ‘story’ as well! Add to this the location – once grand town of Margate in the south of England – and you are gone … gone for Detective Solomon Gray and his personal story!
Dig Two Graves introduces us to Detective Gray and gives us his story, the disappearance of his six year old son, his never-ending search and his daily work as a Detective … this story revolves around a world of abuse, corruption, lies … it is the world where you do not know who is telling the truth and who is lying… there seems to be no end to depravity of the man …
It is a dark ride that the writer is taking us, be prepared to suffer and rage with Solomon … you will feel broken and lost and you will give up and you are so wary that you no longer want to continue on the road to redemption … there is no end in sight …
It is the best of the contemporary British crime stories and I can only hope that someone would pick up the series and create something that is in the same league with Broadchurch … (what is there in the south of England that brings out the worst in the man?). I cannot wait to continue walking alongside Detective Gray!

Blade’s Edge (Satan’s Devils MC #10) by Manda Mellett – Review by Jana Teppih

Blade's Edge (Satan's Devils MC #10)Blade’s Edge by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blade’s Edge is the TENTH story in Manda Mellett’s Satan’s Devils MC series! Can you believe that she has graced us with ten books of goodness already (and let’s not forget about the spin-off of their Colorado Chapter) AND hopefully she will keep on sharing this goodness!
Blade’s Edge is the story of Blade, Satan’ Devils enforcer and an artist at heart who gave up on his art when he was twelve years old … he gave up on sharing it, he still draws BUT he destroys it after he finishes … he carries a deep mistrust in him, against women, they are good for one thing only and then they are to be discarded … oh my, this lonely broken man was NOT ready for Tasha. Tasha is also broken and she is running for her life and while broken, she is still fierce like hell and of course one needs to be that if one wants to survive … on the streets … hiding … from this monster of a man who broke her and who is paying Satan’s Devils to protect him … What a conundrum! AND then we have Tommy! Oh my goodness! I don’t think there is anyone who would not love Tommy … that big man who takes Tasha’s back on the streets … I truly hope that Manda will give us HIS story as well!
I loved visiting with Satan’s Devils and learning more about the flawed and lovable characters and I am looking forward to hanging out with them again and I wonder who is in the line to get their own story next … so many of the guys are crying out for their turn!

What She Lost And Found by M.L. Garcia – Review by Jana Teppih

What She Lost And FoundWhat She Lost And Found by M.L. Garcia
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What She Lost and Found is M.L. Garcia’s debut novel and what a debut it is! It is a combination of romance, mystery, suspense, heartbreaking tragedy … and healing … We meet Daniela who lost her innocence in an extremely horrible way and it all got compounded by even more horrible event just two days later. These events have changed her life for ever … We also meet Nathan who needs to find his way into Daniela’s heart … this journey is long and painful and when you join them on that journey you need to be prepared for heartbreak and despair, you will also experience hope and love …
You can feel that this is the beginning of a great career and I am convinced that the next book will feel ‘smoother’, it is hard to explain – it was a great story with characters that you fall in love with and I admire the way she handled a very sensitive issue but it felt a bit clunky at times that I know she will smooth out the more she writes!
I am walking away from this book with something that M.L. Garcia wrote, it has been ‘singing’ to me at the back of my head and asking me to remember it for the moment when I feel down: “If you’ve been through hell and found the courage to survive, be happy you had the strength to make it through. If you figured out what makes your happiness thrive, be grateful you had the wisdom to figure it out. And for the moments that bring pure joy into your life, cherish each one.”

Tales of the Dragonfly Book III: Extended Flight by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Jana Teppih

Tales of the Dragonfly Book III: Extended FlightTales of the Dragonfly Book III: Extended Flight by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tales of the Dragonfly Book III: Extended Flight is another mind-blowing installment in Tamara Ferguson’s series taking place in Crystal Rock. She has couple of series taking place in this amazing place and they all intersect at some point and I have read every single one of them!
The story of Kiley and Aaron is a story that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let you go… you feel with them, you love with them, you fear with them… We have a crime boss’ daughter who is beautiful, brave and fierce, and then we have Aaron who has just returned from Afghanistan and has all that we women dream a man should have – heart and passion and kindness and…
The writer has a way about her writing, it pulls you in and makes you close your eyes and imagine… her stories bring light and hope into our daily lives and they are like a breath of fresh air… when I feel down and I crave for something that would pick me up and restore my belief in our fellow man, I pick up one of her books. My wish is that she keeps on gracing us with more of Crystal Rock and Dragonfly magic!

Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy, #8) by Jen Talty – Review by Jana Teppih

Trouble's Wedding CaperTrouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in Familiar Legacy series where each story is by a different writer. This one is by Jen Talty. It is my first encounter with this writer and as I got intrigued by the blurb, I decided to pick up a copy and I did not regret it! I loved the premises of the series – our cool black cat Sherlock Holmes reincarnation Trouble! In this story we find Trouble in Jupiter Florida and where he helps Annabel and Ethen to solve the mystery of a storage unit filled with wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns and jewellery …
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is a fast paced story that keeps you at the edge of your seat, the twists and turns leave you dizzy and you keep your fingers crossed for a happy ending! I could just imagine Trouble ‘speaking’ with British accent! I am sure I will pick up some more of Trouble’s stories as he is bloody brilliant!
