The Killmores (A Killmore novel) by Martha Sweeney
4 Stars!!!!

Wow is what comes to mind first. This is the second book in the series and I was not disappointed. I was just glued to the pages to see how things would unfold. The author really has a refreshing style and the world she has created really grabs you and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The chemistry between Aiden and Laurie just heats up more in this book and the drama that unfolds around them really adds to the whole dynamic. I was drawn in as Laurie’s past comes back into play and how things get resolved. The whole undertone of the book of the mob and corruption really just adds to the story. I found myself really routing for Aiden and Laurie. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The Killmores (Killmore #2)The Killmores by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So hopefully you started with book one, Killmore, because this book is going to blow you away just as much and make a lot more sense to you if you do so. Also it will prepare you to clear your calendar like I did for this one. I knew I had to have a day set aside to devour this in one sitting. I completely neglected life and adulting for the first one and I just couldn’t manage to miss a moment here either. I was a skeptic that I would love this one as much given that Killmore topped my favorite read of all of Martha Sweeney’s novels and was a top five reads of 2018. This one is a continuation of the story of Laurie and Aiden, both of which are great strong and relatable characters. I really can’t find a way to share any of the juicy details without spoiling the greatness of the story for you so for any of that you will have to pick up this gem and devour it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed that you did! I can’t wait to see what will come next from Ms. Sweeney! Thanks for the great reads!

5 out of 5 stars
The Killmores is book two in the Killmore series written by Martha Sweeney is a great book that finishes the story between Aiden and Laurie. The characters are well written I love their little quirkiness and banter. This is an action-packed, espionage romantic suspense thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and want more!
Laurie is always looking over her shoulder on the run from her past. Though Aiden and she are together, Laurie can’t escape the demons who haunt her. To Laurie, she must keep running to keep the Devil’s beasts off her scent.
Laurie’s Nightmares eventually become reality and she thrust face to face with the Devil. We have new players enter the game, people die, truths are revealed, and Laurie is forced to chose: to either fight or give up completely.
Can Aiden save the woman he loves or will he be outwitted and left with his love dead in his arms? While Laurie is entrapped by the Devil, will she fight or give in? Will these two finally have a happily ever after all the years on the run?
I highly recommend this book/series and I hope we get to see these two again…

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I did not know what to expect when I picked up Killmore but I knew it would be good for sure being an Martha Sweeney novel. I had no idea it would be this good though. I was taken on a completely up and down emotional rollercoaster with Leia/ Laurie and I honestly couldn’t tear myself away for one second from start to finish. I found myself finishing up this book in just a few short hours. I am super excited to know the next one, The Killmores, is available now to devour. That is actually what I will be doing as soon as I finish up this review.

This follows the tragic and yet transformative story of Leia to Laurie. At first we meet Leia. She is miserable with her husband and wants so badly to escape his abuse. This man not only abuses her but lets others abuse her for profit too. Finally things fall into place and she finds herself in the witness protection program.

Seven years later and Leia is now Laurie running a business and keeping things close to the vest like her past, the few friends she trusts, many weapons, and of course her heart. Everything will get a little tricky though when the handsome Agent Aiden Kilmore comes into her life and needs her help. These two have a connection that will ignite the screen of your kindle on fire! I suggest that you have a tall glass of water nearby! Watch out for the twists and turns that you just won’t see coming even with the warnings. I can’t say much more without ruining all the fun. For all that and more you will have to devour this little gem for yourself! Happy reading!

The Killmores (Killmore #2)The Killmores
ByMartha Sweeney
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Killmores (Killmore #2) by Martha Sweeney was a action packed, not your normal romance thrill, with a power couple could give Mr. and Mrs Smith a run for their money.

I am in deep with this series, it’s everything I never knew I wanted in a action romance. Both are kickass, both are amazing, and this isn’t a story about the hot action, alpha guy saving the girl. No, no, this story is about a powerhouse couple that work together, fight it out and know how to give and take.

Outside of the nail biting action and heart pounding intense situations, the writing is on point. Everything flowed cohesively, transitions were near seamless and, the detail was rich and drawing. I felt like I was watching a blockbuster action movie instead of reading a book.

Not one for spoilers, I don’t want to say anymore as it will ruin this fan-freaking-tastic book. I will warn you that this is part of a series, and it picks up pretty much were the last leaves off. It has a continuation timeline and plot, so I highly suggest you read the first book, Killmore, as to not get confused.

So if you haven’t guest, I highly, highly recommend you get your hands on this book, this series. Take my stamp of approval that you will be capture by this power couple, their resolved and, the endless thrilling action.

Happy reading

5 out of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Sweeney. I didn’t know if I hated this book or loved it but I just couldn’t put it down. This story is suspenseful, action packed, with pull your hair out emotionally, intense ride and this is the story for you.

I loved Laurie she was such an amazing character with everything she has been through she doesn’t trust easily and she looks over her shoulder all the time.
She knows not to look to anyone else to keep her safe she can only depend on herself. The last thing she needs a man especially a Fed. But is he the one she has to watch out for or is her past coming back to haunt her.

The characters in this book are well developed and I loved the banter with the Snarky comments that were thrown at each other they made me laugh because the comments were out of this world. I loved the way they always kept each other wanting although never giving too much away.

Can the Feds keep Laurie safe? Will Laurie be able to trust men again? Will Laurie have a happily ever after?

Like I said earlier I didn’t know if I loved this book or hated it but this was a funny action pack romance with a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Sweeney has instore for us in book two of this series.

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Killmore by Martha Sweeney is part one of a two part series. All I can say is wow. How she dealt with what she did for as long as she did was amazing, the it all hits the fan. Fast forward in time to her life now, Laurie has moved on and enjoying life with her dogs Cain and Mabel (loved their names). But is the past really ever truly dead and gone?

I have a friend at work that I will talk books with from time to time. She is quite picky over the years I have learned what she likes. I recommended this book to her before I was half way through it and I can’t wait to see what she thinks of it.

There are things I want to mention but they could be considered spoilers so I won’t mention them. I will say that I cannot wait to get started on the next book.

Killmore by Martha Sweeney is a five star novel. I love how we are thrown into the story right from the get go. Some stories take a while to get the story across but this one starts of right from the start with action packed adventure. Lori got into the thick of things with a Mexican crime lord. When the feds get to her and want her to help them, she agrees because she knows she can’t be a part of this life anymore. Without any trust in her new witness protection, she has to stay on full alert and keep on training so she can be as strong as she needs to be in order to keep herself safe. Just because they are the feds, doesn’t mean they will be able to always be there to keep her safe. I cannot wait to read book #2!

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Killmore is the explosive first book in the Killmore duet by Martha Sweeney. These books are not intended to be read as standalones and you will need to read them in order, to understand the story.
This book totally blew me away and I was gripped from beginning to end. Thankfully I have the second book, The Killmores, to jump straight into as I can’t wait to see how this story concludes and how many twists and turns it will take us on, on the way there.
Heroine of the book, Laurie has to be one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever read. She is totally kick ass awesome and takes absolutely no crap from anyone. Starting off as the wife of a dodgy cop who pimps her out to a major Mexican crime lord, she then goes into witness protection only to discover that her next door neighbour is an even bigger crime lord. Then federal agent Aiden Killmore pretends to be her boyfriend to be able to spy on her neighbour. Totally hacked off with hoe she’s been treated by the feds in the past, Laurie does everything in her power to make life hell for Aiden. Through time Aiden breaks down a couple of the many walls she has built around herself and their fake relationship becomes real. However Laurie’s life is still at risk and life is far from easy for Laurie and Aiden.
This is a series that I’d highly recommend to other readers. This first book had me on the edge of my seat and I’m so excited to see what happens next.

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Killmore” by Martha Sweeney is the first of two of the Killmore novels. Our main character is a woman who is not to be messed with. She has been through too much as it is and is determined to do what she needs to do. She is strong, smart and sexy, a deadly combination. I won’t reveal any details, even her name, for it all plays a major part in this story and I don’t want to give anything away! This fierce woman is not one to easily trust anyone. Her guard is always up and she is always ready for what needs to be done. Some of her bickering with other characters got on my nerves, but is just goes to show that she doesn’t let anyone else dictate her life. This book is very story driven, and the story is a darn good one! When I had to put the book down, my thoughts would drift back to it and left me wondering what would happen next. The story is exciting, witty and very dark at times. If you like a leading lady with some secrets and an intense story, then this is the book for you! I give “Killmore” five stars and can’t wait to read book two, “The Killmores!”

This was an interesting novel. The author really catches your attention with the opening chapters. I loved following Laurie after she goes into Witness protection. The relationship that develops between her and Aiden as the story progresses was entertaining, sweet, and funny. I loved his personality and his character. It was easy to get lost in the banter back and forth between him and Laurie. Her character was my favorite. She was very strong and independent. She demonstrated that she was able to take care of herself and be prepared for the worst. I hate that she had to go through so much in the beginning with her ex-husband. I loved the small family she built for herself though. I was surprised with the way the ending went. I did not expect what happened. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Killmore is the first book of the Killmore series.

I love that this story has a strong female character who doesn’t lose her edge. The premise of the story is excellent as is the overall story line. The only thing that might be a sticking point for some people is that it slows down a bit toward the middle of the book with most of the action happening at the beginning and well toward the end. That being said, the characters are well-written so that helps. I love the snarky and suggestive humor, it helps keep the book from getting overly dark.

I am looking forward to reading the next part of the story in the second book.

Killmore starts off with a BANG of action. Then it lets you get comfortable for awhile. It’s hard to get a read on Laurie, I don’t know how I totally feel about her and still feel like she has secrets. She definitely has a tough outer shell to crack but cares deeply for those in her inner circle. Aiden, Paul, who can you trust? They both seem genuine and Aiden kind of wears his heart on his sleeve, but I still have a lot of questions. I feel like Dr. Codie wasn’t a fully resolved issue, maybe all these things are cleared up in book two. I’d call this a happy for now ending, with enough suspense, intrigue, and puzzle to keep me on the hook.

4 Stars!!!!

Once again going out of my genre choice and I must admit that I was quite drawn in. There is so much that drew me in. The author does such an amazing job of creating the world in which her characters live. I like how the book is written in first person view point. The use of the past as well to help put the story together is just so refreshing.

I really enjoyed the fact that Laurie was doing the right thing and helping to bring down the bad guys. I found that although the story line was a bit drawn out that it still had the desired affect that I was pulled in and couldn’t put the book down. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Aiden and Laurie was a leading factor that kept me glued to the pages of this book. I don’t often enjoy cartel or mafia based books but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I found that the author was able to be create the sexual tension between the two main characters as well as wrap the drama around them. I do like mysteries and case solving and I found that the author really put good use of this in the story. I very much look forward to reading more from this author as well as this series.

I have no idea how I didn’t know of Martha Sweeney’s writing prior to stumbling across Killmore. This is my first novel I’ve read by Martha Sweeney and it most certainly will not be my last (and not just because I’m dying to read the follow up book!) The very first page starts off with a bang and there are enough edge of your seat twists and turns to keep the pages turner until the very end.
When I tell you this book has everything I could ask for in a great romantic thriller, I mean it. Heart pounding suspense, danger, romance, the list goes on.
The storyline flowed very well and kept the fast pace throughout. I don’t want to spoil the story anyway but I recommend you read Killmore and see for yourself why this 5 star read made me anxious to read more of Martha Sweeney.

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore
ByMartha Sweeney
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Killmore (Killmore #1) by Martha Sweeney was a intense, gripping read that pulls you in.

My first read by this author and for this series. I know right, I’m starting at the first book, go me. If you follow my reviews you know I tend to not, start at the first book. It’s a strange weird habit that I’m trying to kick. But enough about that, let’s get into why you’re here. This book, and my thoughts.

A rather different read for me, though I do love action, I’ve never really dove too much into that actual book genera. So saying that this was a bit out of my comfort zone isn’t a stretch. I’m a bit mixed on this book. Pacing was a issue for me. I like my action thrillers fast, urgent and dangerous. This book was lacking the first two. It starts out with that dangerous urgency, but it tapers off and it falls into a lull, before it picks up, then lulls again. I don’t know if it was done to up the page count, but parts of this book could be chopped down to make a more cohesive read. There are some structural issues as well, choppy or confusing dialogue and, sometimes I wasn’t sure what the characters were feeling while talking, they were simply talking.

Other then that, the actual plot and MC were great. I very much like our MC, she was strong, fierce and a tad bit nuts. She was a no BS type person and I liked her style. The plot, was complex, twisty and dangerous. It had a nice darkness to it that kept the story edgy and gritty. Plus there is some hot, fan worthy, sexual tension that adds that something extra, to round out the story. And the ending.. cliffy. Why you got to do that? The next book is a must read, cause I need to know what happens!

Overall, though I’m a little mixed I do highly recommend you give this book a chance. A vastly original and unique read, it’s a little bit of a hidden gem, you just got to brush off the filler to see the excellent story hidden within.

Happy Reading

Killmore is a phenomenal must read book by Martha Sweeney. It’s the first book in the Killmore series, and what a great start it is! This story had me hooked from the first chapter and I was intrigued the whole way through. This story follows Laurie, aka, Pix as she goes through the motions of life in her one of a kind situation.

I really enjoyed the length of this book and how well rounded the story was! While I couldn’t relate to Laurie I was able to connect with her which made this book even more enjoyable. Martha has created a world that really intrigued me and I can’t wait to dive into book 2!

I don’t want to give any of the story away as it is a must read and best found out as you read, Laurie aka Leia, is in FBI witness protection. But what happens when your past comes back to your new future?
Laurie keeps to herself, doesn’t keep the same schedule everyday, and only has a handful of those she interacts with on a personal level. But she knows one thing for sure, she will never trust a man outside the bedroom.
I am now on to the next one, as that ending had me needing more.

You’re life has to be pretty screwy if you’re in Witness Protection and the FBI can’t keep you safe. But that is what makes good reading and television!
Laurie was used as an informant against a powerful Mexican cartel boss and as always, the Butcher’s Bill comes due and will be paid. The man who is tasked with protecting her is sexy, mysterious, and can’t really say anything about himself which is worst case scenario for the distrustful Laurie. But really, who can blame her?
I actually thought she was a bit too trusting, especially in Aiden and the government’s ability to keep her from harm. Maybe that’s because I’ve seen too many movies but I’m a worst case scenario kind of woman and money talks as it always does.
The plot twist about gave me whiplash and the cliffhanger……. THE DREADED CLIFFHANGERS!!!!
But seriously this book is fantastic and I didn’t wait more than about three minutes to calm myself before I jumped into the second book.

Killmore (Killmore #1)Killmore by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Killmore by Martha Sweeney is the first book in her new series, Killmore. Categorized as a romantic suspense book I fell hard for this book and couldn’t bring myself to put it down until the very end. Getting to see a strong female lead character who also happens to be beautiful and complex really made this a great read. Antonio Herrera is sarcastic, snarky, realistic, ruthless, and best of all protected by the Feds. The Feds are more than willing to look the other way about her dealings with drugs and human trafficking as long as she is willing to play ball with them. But Antonio has always had a hard time trusting those around her when it comes to her business dealings. While the Feds offer sounds good, is it too good to be true? Will she be able to keep those around her safe? How much danger is Antonio in with the Feds? Sweeney is a new to me author, but I am so happy that I picked this story up. The banter between the characters, will leave you smiling and fall out laughing at their antics. The steam in this book will curl your toes and blush your cheeks as well. I highly recommend this book to everyone looking for a great story. I can’t wait to see where Sweeney takes her readers in the future with this series.

This is a story for the books. Have you ever had to fight for your life? To know that every second could be your last? Leia knows too much and is being pulled from both sides. One side wants to use her the other wants her dead. The story was intense and thrilling. I was sitting up straight waiting for what was to come. The suspense was killer. To live in fear but to also have e strength to say that you will fight for your life. There was so much sadness and heartbreak. But also courage and bravado. The author developed the characters well.

Killmore by Martha Sweeney. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I flipping loved it! I can’t wait to read the next one! Its the story of Laurie whose husband works for a Major Mexican Crime Lord and is very abusive to Laurie until she becomes Antonio Herrera’s ( Crime Lord) girl! He forbids her husband to touch Laurie and she pleases Antonio in any way that she can. There is also the problem of Laurie being used by the Feds helping them to take down Antonio. Laurie ends up going into the Witness Protection program and moves off to a small town to run a small restaurant. She stays pretty closed off only letting very few people in until Aiden moves to town. There are immediate sparks between them but she’s scared to trust anyone. She still lives in fear of Antonio finding her. Will she let go and trust Aiden or will she play it safe and stay to herself. This book was so good and I can’t wait to read the next one!

The sexual tension between the main characters is prevalent right from their first meeting. Laurie is a feisty and determined woman, she has had to learn to be and letting anyone in to her life is not on the cards. I absolutely loved their banter and craziness as Aidan tries to make her his. The twists and turns sometimes made my head spin but in a good way and I know there is so much more to come to this story. I loved the interaction between these two characters and the chemistry was brilliant. The fast pace of the story keeps you on your toes and with the twists and turns you will be on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to continue the story with The Killmores book #2.
